Resturant ""Want to be"" 1/15/2012

I agree with Eatoutgirl 110%. To call Milano's a resturant is a bit of a stretch. There were 8 people in our party and the service was 4 steps below McDonalds or Burger King. The place was almost empty (we thought it was because of the rain outside), and our reservation to be seated was a little on the late side. The promised valet parking service was non-existant, we had to find a parking place for ourselves. It was a good 20 minutes before we saw our waitress. She gave us the opinion that she preferred to take only drink orders. The menu did not look like any Italian Resturant menu I had ever been in either in the USA or Italy. I have lived in Europe for over 5 years and have visited almost all of Italy, including Milan. The menu was about 25% Italian foods and the rest were at best some kind of experimental Mediterranean/ Mexican/Asian/American Southwestern mix. There were absolutely no Italian comfort foods on the menu. They did not have scallops, calamari, and several other basic foods that a mediocre Italian place would have. The daily specials were reduced to only one, a veggie rice dish with an mid-Eastern touch. It took the waitress about 20 minutes to take our 8 orders. It was about 5 minutes later we got our drink orders and another 10 to get our ice teas and water (no ice). After about 15 more minutes we got a little garlic and olive oil mix with 2” round bread slices. The meal was served about 30 minutes later, after all the olive oil and bread was eaten, the waitress kept busy out of site and did not check on our table during this 30 minutes. One table had two guests come in and leave during this time without seeing the waitress. The meal was over priced and the quality and quantity was two steps below what I got in the Marine Corp mess hall back in the 1960’s. I had expected them to at least offer average quality for what we received and paid for that night. My recommendation is to walk another 50 feet and go to LaScala Resturant! The quality and service there are 4 star and the Italian food is superior, not to mention the little extras they offer! Milano’s is a night lounge for the local black hoods, not an Italian eatery. I gave them a single star because I could not give them less. Save your money, do not go here! more

Customer Service Lacking 7/25/2010

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately in the past year it has deteriorated tremendously. The wait staff is most unprofessional! One of the waiters was literally bragging about how he has followed people outside who have failed to leave a tip, or left what he felt was an insufficient tip. It was said in almost a threatening way, like, you better leave me a decent tip if you don't want that to happen to you.\r I also observed very poor management skills over the wait staff as they spoke curtly and rudely to customers.\r I enjoy eating out, and would never go here again. Pros: Location Cons: Wait staff more

Ugh - CANNOT recommend 7/25/2010

I should have wrote this a long time ago. My friend and I would go to Milano's occasionally for the crabcake. One night my friend left a tip and I needed change in order to run my tip back to the table. I was engrossed in a conversation and walked out the door. Now, mind you, there was a tip on the table. \r \r As we were approaching the car, a woman came running out to us to ask if there was a problem with the service because $3.00 certainly wasn't enough for a tip. She then proceeded to tell us how hard the waitresses work and how underpaid they are, how they rely on tips and what are they expected to do with such a small tip ($3.00). Unbelievable. We were shocked at the rudeness and her behavoir. \r \r The next day my friend called to complain, the owner wasn't the least bit interested. I followed it up with a letter documenting exactly what was said and how we were treated, it wasn't acknowledged !!! \r \r I could never recommend this restaurant to anyone in all good faith. They are rude and unprofessional and I have never set foot back into that place of business. I work way too hard to give my money, and my tip, to people that don't appreciate it. Cons: Rude waitresses more

Dishonest and Rude 6/10/2010

Took my wife, son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren on Tues (6/9/10).We wanted to eat here since they had steamed shrimp for $9.95 per lb. The waitress took our drink order and informed us that the shrimp are not $9.95 but $13.95. We said how can this be when the sign on the door and the easel as we entered said $9.95. The waitress said she would get the manager for us. The manager said she doesn't care what the signs say but they are all out of the $9.95 shrimp all they have are the $13.95 per lb shrimp due to the Gulf oil crisis. She suggested that if we didn't want those that we could pay for our drinks and leave. I ask you, if you ran Milano's, would you lose probably a $70.00 tab over $3.00 for a lb of shrimp. This was very dishonest to post a price and then refuse to honor it. We paid our bill of $8.00 for 2 sodas and a beer and then went across the street to Bill Bateman's where we ate the steamed shrimp for $8.99 and had a great meal also. milano's will never sucker us again, ever!!!! Pros: Fair Crabcakes Cons: Poor Service more

Do NOT eat here 5/9/2010

I should have followed my instincts upon walking into this place, opening the sticky menu and seeing the completely outrageous prices. I had the seafood alfredo. The shrimp tasted like bleach. Disgusting. The scallops were overdone little hockey pucks--I'm pretty sure they weren't real. I ate very, very little of this dish. The pasta wasn't even good. Overall, I felt like this meal was on the verge of making me sick. I have never in my life tasted seafood like that. I googled ""shrimp bleach taste"" and, well, yeah. If you'd like to feel good after you eat, do NOT eat here. more

Tuesday Crab Cake special really is! 11/11/2008

A huge delicious broiled crab cake w/2 sides for $14 is the real Tuesday deal. I had Greek salad that was massive and more coated French fries than I could eat. Coffee was one of the best restaurant drinks that I've ever had. Service from Jessica was perfect and done with a smile. I was happy to see that the utencils were of the man size variety. Pros: Service, Value, Clean restroom more

BAD SERVICE, BLAND FOOD 9/28/2008

I had a terrible experience at this establishment. It was all good for about 15 minutes then it went down hill fast. The waitress was so occupied with all of her other customers, that there was a time we didn't see her for about 30 minutes. Once she brought out the salad and bread that was it we didn't see her again. The food was VERY bland, to the point of no taste. I had to return my food because they brought out the topping for the pasta, but no pasta. I then had to stop another waitress to ask for the check since my waitress nevercame back around. Then they added the gratuity to the check. WHAT THE HELL?!?! I have never heard of that for dinner for two. I didn't plan on tipping the waitress 20% like I normally do because she didn't deserve it. \r My advice to whomever reads this, go to Olive Garden. Pros: good salad and homemade vineigrette Cons: everything else more
