Mike's Apizza & Restaurant

The sauce on the pizzas is way too salty. And the pies are much too expensive with multiple toppings. And a few years ago, when I came in just before close to get slices to go, owner was unfriendly (I've noted a lack of warmth to customers on more than 1 occasion), refused to take order- could have been more accommodating, as I would have taken them cold. Guess he doesn't need the business, or care if he loses a customer. more

Try the calzone's! Mike's has the most amazing calzone's around with the smoothest, creamiest ricotta cheese! A large is more like an extra large. You can easily feed a family of 5 or 6 with leftovers. The pizza is very good too. After reading the other comments, it is true that sometimes the pizza is burned. We find that you can't order too late at night as this is when it occurs. Zuppardi's is a favorite too, however, they are way too expensive! $39 for a large half and half and small white pie in my book is a little ridiculous. more

Pizza is too thin to cook as long as they cook it....They burn it quite a bit. If it was brick oven I could expect it but it's not. more

My family & I attended West Haven's Italian Street Festival yesterday. I thought everything was fine, except for Mike's Apizza. In the past, my husband & I have eaten at Mike's, and several times we were served burnt pizza. Well, yesterday at the festival convinced us that we will no longer be customers of Mike's. At the festival, we ordered 2 slices of cheese pizza & were presented with the BLACKEST pizza I've ever seen. I asked the woman who served us for 2 other slices, and she responded to me that all the slices were burnt like that. Eventually, we received 2 proper slices. What a disgrace Mike's Apizza is! Shame on them! In these times, you would think they would to their best to please their customers. How could the cooks & wait staff serve such garbage??? My family & I will go to Andy's Pizza or Reno's or anywhere where we are treated properly. more

I love pizza. This truly is one of the best pizza's anywhere. Try a plain cheese. Unbelievable! more

We always wnnt to Mike's for pizza when we vacationed from Indiana to visit my grandparents in West Haven. It was always a much looked-forward to culinary experience. Whenever I have occasion to travel within 100 miles of West Haven, I insist on a side-trip to Mike's. Unfortunately, it has been over five years since my last memorable bite of Mike's slices from heaven. If I let memory serve, I can almost taste it. It is like no other pizza I have ever eaten. Don't dilute the wonderful and delictable flavor of a PLAIN CHEESE PIE by heaping all sorts of meats and veggies on it. Ahhhhh! Ummmmm! Heaven! Decent Pizza - Snotty people - you'd think they'd give better service to keep customers coming back! We walked in & waited to be seated for 20 minutes while all the staff walked around us & ignored us, then they acted like we were bothering them because they were a little busy - so we walked out! Pizza's not bad - Zuppardi's is much better!! Nicer people too!!! more
