My 12 year old cat Buddy had a stroke Saturday afternoon. Our regular vet was already closed and the website referred me to Midwest Animal Hospital. I've had some very bad vet experiences in the past. In an emergency you are at your most vulnerable because your pet is in pain and you are walking into a clinic where you and your pet are unknown. Thankfully, while it’s always traumatic to put a pet down, this experience was not as horrible because of the way it was handled by the staff. Buddy and I were treated very nicely by all the staff. I didn't think the cost was too high for an emergency vet. My total bill including the $100 exam was $230 which is not unreasonable for euthanasia. While I was in the exam room waiting for the sedative to work the tech asked if he could settle the bill, which is actually a good idea. He took my card and brought the receipt all in the privacy of the exam room. Three days after Buddy passed I received a very nice sympathy card from the staff. I hope I do not have any more emergencies but if I do I will not hesitate to come here again.\r more

I had a wonderful experience. They were very caring and compassionate when my pet bird passed away. It died suddenly and I brought it in, to find out the cause of his passing. They sent me a beautiful card afterward and also gave me back the body in a beautifully decorated container. Very compassionate people.\r more

We find all the staff and doctors at Midwest to be very helpful and concerned with their patients and clients. The emergency vets are VERY determined to help in bad situations. We've been there at 2AM on occasions with our bunny and cat and the care is excellent. If you care about your pets in an emergency, take them there. They are like your children-- you would want the best for human kids too.\r more

Dr. Poliakoff and the staff at Midwest are the BEST. We have 2 ferrets, one of whom became ill at a very young age. From the time we first took them there, to the time we had to put the sick one to rest (5 years), they went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our pets the best care possible. They were compassionate and caring through 2 surgeries and a few emergency visits. I would recommend them to ANYONE. I consider Dr. Poliakoff and the rest of the staff more like friends than doctors.\r more

I cannot praise the Emergency Care staff at this hospital enough. Even though my dog is not a regular patient there, I really felt they took the best care possible. The entire team was so sincere, I could not have asked for a better experience. I am confident they took every measure to prolong my pet's life. I highly recommend this animal ER. My personal vet couldn't praise them enough either as they consulted with each other on actions to be taken.\r more

When we have concerns the front desk staff listens and ""translates"" to the vets and they take proper action in reasonable time. They explain the directives and follow up progress after the visit. We are very found of Lauren at the front desk.\r more
