These people are exotic experts - they are much more knowledgeable about exotics than your normal vet. I've been going to them for about 2 years now, and I've never been disappointed with their work. They discuss the problem with me, advise me of my options, and always discuss the costs involved before they proceed with any work. The doctors & staff at Midwest are friendly, and you can tell they care about my animals. I've seen ferrets, turtles, iguanas, mice and zillions of birds in there.\r more

Our first experience was on an emergency basis in the middle of the night on Sunday on a holiday weekend. We found out that the doctor on duty was not only capable but was able to prioritize assistance to the animals. At the end of the night we felt our bunny was treated with compassion and able hands. Our comment on the way home was that if our companions really needed help Midwest would take good care of our little girl ( she's 110 years old in human years).\r more

This practice has been a great resource for us to maintain our aging bunnies health the past three years. Our concern is to be able to have a facility that deals with exotics 24/7 and they have a number of very capable and caring veterinarians and techs on staff.\r more

From regular checkups, to the occasional unfortunate stressful emergency visits, everyone at Midwest treats our ferrets- and us- in an extremely professional, and always polite, manner. The knowledge exhibited by the staff in all facets of Veterinary care, as well as office management, is a comfort for anyone who values their pets as they are meant to. When bringing in our ferret for his monthly injection, the techs always take the time to confer with us afterward to let us know exactly what they did, because they know how important it is to us. It is obvious that the entire staff loves and cares for animals as much as their clients\r more

I have been to other animal hospitals and they do not compare to midwest. All of the staff are very friendly and caring. I would definitely continue to use this animal hospital in the future when and if needed.\r more

Claudia and Dr. Devold were wonderful and compassionate. They spent time with me explaining Gina's diagnosis and comforting me. Thank you\r more

The costs for services seem reasonable to me - after all, I'm paying for their knowledge, their services, their staff and any supplies/drugs. My view is I can pay $4 more for an office visit and see an exotic expert who likely can get to the bottom of the problem quicker - or I can take my chances with a normal dog/cat vet who maybe sees one or two guinea pigs a week (or month). Besides, if things get serious with your exotic, often your normal dog/cat vet will refer you to Midwest for special procedures or surgery.\r more

My spouse and I have been taking our ferrets to Midwest Bird & Exotic for more than ten years. As the caretakers of God's creatures, we take this responsibility very seriously and actively searched for a practice which held the health and well-being of all animals in the same regard as us. We have never had reason to question the commitment and knowledge of the entire Midwest staff when it comes to this, and could not be happier with the level of care our ferrets have, and continue to, receive.\r more

Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Hospital in my opinion is an excellent veterinary group for animals outside of the ""norm"" and from what I've seen from sitting in the waiting room I'm not the only person that leaves happy knowing that my furry companion is well taken care of and recognized as an important ""person"" in my life.\r more

I have been bringing my rabbit to Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Hospital for six years and I honestly would not take her anywhere else for care. I haven't had any pets prior to my rabbit, let alone an ""exotic"" pet, and the doctors at Midwest that have treated her have not only provided what is in my opinion excellent care, but have also helped me to learn how to better care for her at home, without making me feel embarrassed for asking LOTS of questions. When my rabbit was younger I didn't visit them as often as I do now, but even then I felt like they remembered what was going on with her, and not just generically referencing her from notes. Now that she is getting older, and has more complicated issues, I always appreciate that the doctor and I can discuss whatever the problem may be with my rabbit, and can come up with plans of action to take so that when I get home I know exactly what I need to do to care for my ""elder bunny"". I also really like that they make follow-up phone calls a few days after she has medical procedures done outside of routine checkups, just to see how things are going at home and if I have any questions.\r more

I was referred to Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital by my local vet. I had a ferret that needed surgery on her stomach. So I took her there and I love it there. So now I take all of my ferrets there. I have been going there for 9 years now. They are there for you in the middle of the night too. Dr. Poliakoff is my favorite vet there. I live in Indiana and it takes me like an hour and a half to get there, but I don’t care, it’s worth the drive because I know my ferrets are in good hands. So I would suggest everybody to go there for all of their exotic pets.\r more

I have been going to the Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Hospital for at least 11 years now and will not go to any clinic but them. I value their opinion and treatment for my birds. I currently have a Quaker named Angel and she is my third bird to be going to the clinic now. She will be going on 7 yrs now come April so that is how long I have been bringing her for her checkup and treatment when she became ill off and on. The staff all knows Ms. Angel too. The staff and doctors always have treated Angel like if their own pet and usually I need only tell them to tell her, 'good girl' and my Quaker relaxes and isn't so scared. I have a number of different illness issues with Angel and it just may be something only happening to her and it turns out could be normal for her and no other Quakers. The doctors, such as Dr. Poliakoff would run test, do treatment and Angel is back to her own self again.\r more
