midori is the best all-you-can-eat sushi spot in the valley! the food is great i love coming here when im really hungry because they do charge a little bit on the pricey side. i am a sucker for the baked salmon roll. its soo yummy. over all i love everything that they serve but the only thing thats keeping me from giving midori the 5 stars is the service. i went to midori one time not for the all you can eat because they stopped serving all you can eat after 9pm. some of the waitresses are very rude... i wasnt even done with my food and they got my plate and asked if i wanted it to-go, next time they should ask before they take my plate. more

I can easily say that this is the best all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant in Los Angeles. Everything is made to order so the fish stays fresh. Mind you, this is AYCE, so you aren't getting the absolute best fish in town flown in from Japan that day on a private plane (blah blah blah)... but you are getting a hell of a lot of it and it's really very good. I guarantee this will be the best $25.95 you've ever spent on sushi. Just make sure you come here hungry so you can get the biggest bang for your buck. My 6'4 boyfriend and I love to go to this place because I get to eat sushi and he can actually get full without having to fork over a bunch of money. The all you can eat is seriously the best. I've always hated sushi buffets because really, who knows how long it's been laying there? They make everything fresh to order and it's really pretty fast. In response to some of the one-star reviews, the AYCE rules are right there on the table. If you can read in English, I promise, you would have known you have to eat EVERYTHING on your plate, which, not surprisingly, means the rice as well. What I eat is always worth the value of the $26 price. And my boyfriend DEFINITELY eats his fair share. Give Midori a try and you'll see what I mean. A friend took me there for the first time last night. She told the waitress it was my first time and to explain how things worked there. The waitress suggested the all you can eat for $26 and showed me everything I could order with that special. I ordered 3 things. Later she stopped to tell me I have to eat everything on my plate. I joked ""If I don't clean my plate will you make me work in the kitchen and then clean my plate?"" She laughed but didn't explain what she actually meant. As I started to slow down and talk with my friend more than I was eating she again stopped and then told me I would be charged for what I didn't eat. I asked her what she meant exactly but she shushed me, put her hand up and asked me to wait while she wrote an order from someone that interrupted my question. Here's the crazy part. After writing the order (8 seconds later) she quickly turned and scurried off without answering my question (pretending to forget?). Then whenever I tried to get her attention she would look the other way (at nothing) and quicken her step to get by us. That's sad. They are too ashamed of their rip off rule to say it out loud, for other customers to hear, when someone new like me asks them to stop, look me right in the eyes and clarify. So I did what I've done since I was a kid and ate everything but the rice. I then called her over and asked if the boss was going to charge me for the 50 cents worth of rice I didn't eat and she said no with a laugh. Well yes they did charge extra on the actual bill and they charge FULL ORDER PRICE so over $70 later I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth that still tastes bad the next day. When I pay that much more than the food is worth I do it for the atmosphere, service and good moods that linger even after leaving a place and on into the evening. There are too many other nice places run by families that like people. You can see it in their faces and spirits. Midori likes money and treat us like cash cattle. I would rather give my business to one of the friendly, family run restaurants that are struggling in these times like the rest of us. PS, I had asked the waitress how much if I just paid for the 3 things I ordered and she assured me it would be more and the crab thingy alone was over $10. Today I used their internet menu to add up my 3 items and it only came to $25. That's a dollar less than their $26 SPECIAL. She knew the prices and played me (crab thingy is a little less than $10, not more). Even had the nerve to charge more than the $26 because I couldn't finish their MSG filled rice. How long do they expect to last? Give me my money back and here's your food back, Rrrrralph. My friends, family and myself have been going to Midori for years and it has been quickly going down hill. This once a fun place to have lunch or dinner but now the management and the servers have made it a very uncomfortable place to dine. The food was always fresh and the sushi chefs kept things very interesting. Our last three times eating at our favorite sushi place made everyone sick. Could be because we had such awful service and where rushed to eat and get out or maybe it is not as fresh as it once was. Sad for all of us loyal patrons of the last 10 years but we are looking for the new favorite Studio City sushi spot. Pros: Location Cons: Many more

I could pretty much live off their seared tuna and king mackerel... don't even bother to dip it in soy. Try to avoid the busy weekend nights if you're not into waiting. I don't bother with the all-you-can-eat, I can't enough to make it worth it. I'd rather spend that extra cash on a hefty sapporo. The Banzai roll is pretty tasty as well. Midori is fantastic! Their prices are perfect and the service is friendly and wonderfull! I have no complaints about the food whatsoever and for those who can eat a normal-larger sized meal, the all-you-can-eat deal is great. I wouldn't personally suggest it to those of us who eat smaller portions because whenever I get it I find myself struggling to eat enough for it to be worth it haha. I have been going here for years now. Their fish is fresh and their sushi and rolls are very good. We pretty much put this place to shame with the all you can eat deal($25.) they have. You cannot compare this place to Todai-thumbs down on that place (across the street)....The service is good and this place is very casual. So if you are in the mood for alot of sushi/rolls and want to be totally relaxed go here. Everything is good and for all you can eat, its totally worth it. I recommend the seared ahi tuna roll...So de-li-cious!!! more

The worst. Really. All you can eat of imitation crab...The rolls were terrible...old chewy pieces of fish and too much rich. Fish has never been this dead. We were seated at the bar, served by the least attentive Sushi chef, who wiped his nose constantly with his sleeve...mmmm mmmm good. Next to us were two patrons who were devouring food, literally with both hands. Obviously regulars, they alone are a reason to avoid Midori. Yes, it is ""all you can eat"" but why bother. On the way out, the valet tried to charge us a second time. All you can pay. Seriously, there are at least 5 better sushi places within walking distance, even for ""all you can eat."" this used to be our sushi spot, however now we go to the one in tarzana. this place has good sushi however the service is horrible. they use to be better but i guess the hype and their popularity got to their heads because now they don't even take care of you anymore. last time i went there, we ran out of sushi and it took them like 10mins before they came and got our 2nd order and then another 15 or so mins for the food to come out. other than that the sushi is good and fresh Pros: good fresh sushi Cons: bad service, very limited parking more

I've traveled quite a bit and thsi is the BEST SUSHI i've ever had. Maeda offers typical Japanese cuisine on top of their many specialy rolls, sashimi and sushi. You may order a la carte or go for the all you can eat special, which ranges from $18.00 - $23.00 depending on day of week and time of day. Parking is horrible, but if you park a few blocks away the walk is welcomed after such a ""hearty"" meal. The staff is curteous and attentive. Maeda has great sushi but I can't say that it is the best in Southern California. The place had a bit of a unpleasant smell but the good sushi and friendly vibe were enough to take my mind, I mean nose, off of it. The all-you-can-eat for $22 certainly isn't cheap and you may find it difficult to eat your worth with the huge rolls they dish out. more

Maeda is, hands-down, the best sushi place in Southern California. The selection is wonderful, the chefs are friendly , and the prices are more than reasonable. I'm probably a little biased since I, probably, go to Maeda once a week. Parking is difficult to find sometimes and it gets pretty crowded Friday and Saturday nights. I recommend sitting at the bar...it's a much better experience. Oh yea...before I forget....try the Tataki and the fresh Ono. This place is heaven on earth. The best all-you-can-eat sushi in town, I first checked this place out when I moved into a house around the corner. Lo and behold, Capt. Kirk (William Shatner) was enjoying what I would soon find out is a top-notch sushi joint. AYCE sushi with fresh pieces of fish so big that they ""drape over"" the rice and $10-12 specialty rolls included in the AYCE menu. For value and quality, you CAN'T beat this place. Even under just the quality criteria, nothing I've had beats this place. more

We first went to this above average all you can eat sushi bar a year or so ago and have not gone anywhere else since. The value and quality are amazing! Since then, we have gotten to know the sushi chefs: Bass, Jay and Mr. Yu - they are all great. Since this is an all you can eat situation, it is always a good idea to try new things. We have been exposed to so many new and wonderful things. I would recommend this place to anyone. more

I love this place. The Sushi chefs are fun people and make you feel at home. I like having them choose what Sushi to try. The BSC roll is awesome. Its baked scallops on top of california rolls. Make sure you get a seat at the bar. If not it takes a lot longer for service. Can't beat the price either. $20.00 for all you can eat great Sushi. Pros: Fun, Inexpensive, tastie more
