I have taken my wife and friends to this place on several occasions and every time it's been fantastic. When you go, try the veal! Christian and Vito make both make the experience a hoot and if you get them going they'll tell you stories about their home lands... even have some drinks with you. I recommend this place to everyone I meet! more

Terrifyingly Bad 3/11/2010

It's my fault. The only reason my wife and I visited Mezzaluna was because of a coupon in the Entertainment book. The meal wasn't worth the gas to get there (three or four miles) let alone the discounted meal. I had pasta with salmon in marinara sauce. The salmon must have been salmon paste from a tube. It's almost impossible to describe how disgusting the taste was. I took two bites, paid the check and left. Want some context to this scathing review? We visited on a Friday night (7pm) and there were only TWO other people in the entire restaurant. It was pouring rain, but across the parking lot, there was a line of folks waiting in the rain to get into Frontera's Mexican Restaurant. There were plenty of folks eager to dine out that night - I guess we were the last ones to figure out that Mezzaluna was the last place anyone would go. more

Excellent Food and Engaging Service 7/8/2009

I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about when they complain about the service. When my party of 18 showed up, we were treated to engaging and lively service from the maitre d'. He was playing the snarky waiter role so I guess I can see where some delicate flowers need to stay away from this location. The food quality is easily on par with anything I have had at Garozzo's or Bucca de Beppo. So, again, I have no idea what prior reviewers are saying when they say that the food is no good. Long story short, if you think you can check your expectations of grovelling service and Olive Garden-style food at the door, then go to Mezzaluna and put yourself in the capable hands of Christian. Otherwise, save yourself the aggrivation and go eat at McDonald's. Pros: Excellent food, good wine-food matching, service is fun Cons: Desserts are not fresh, limited quantities during the week. more

The Worst Dining Experience I can Remember 6/2/2009

My husband and I ordered Manhattens before dinner. They arrived made with scotch. I told the waiter very nicely that these drinks were not made correctly. Tried to explain to him, but he was clueless and rude. I took the two drinks to the bar myself to see if I could get better luck. The Manager was bartending at the time. I sweetly explained the problem, the literally grabbed the drinks from me, threw them glass and all into the sink and shouted at me to point to the liquor I wanted to use in the drinks. I was nearly in tears. Could not enjoy any of the rest of the meal I was embarrased in front of our freinds and the evening was ruined. How they are still in business, if they are, is an amazement to me. Horrible. Cons: Beyond Rude more

DO NOT EAT THERE!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! 5/19/2009

We went for Lunch and we were greeted by a server who hardly spoke English. It was very hard to understand him & to place our order. Rather than ordering their $6 lunch specials we decided to order a $13 entree off the main menu, which included salad. The food was small, bland, & overpriced!!! They only gave us a fork to eat our chicken with and when we asked for a knife he didn't seem to understand what we were asking for. We were already displeased with everything before the real trouble started! Luckily we had a entertainment card to make up for the high priced food. When we handed him our card the server disappeared and the owner popped out. He was rude & aggressive and said they didn't accept it at lunch. When the coupon clearly states that its valid anytime but Saturdays. When I asked him about it he accused me of calling him a ""Liar"" and that they had not honored it in 10 years. We had to go out to the car to get proof. At that point when we presented him with the proof he lost his temper, accused us of calling him a liar, cussed, and started slamming things around at the cash register. It was the most appalling, unprofessional, and rude thing I have ever seen in a retail business! He threw our corrected bill on the table and it was still way to high. We noticed that our Free Salads were not free anymore and was instead charged $5 for them. He then said that b/c we used the coupon our included salad was not longer included. We had not choice but to pay his deceptive & inflated bill, but we will never go back & I urge anyone who is thinking of going not to go! I wish I had read these reviews before I had went! Cons: Food, Service, Deceptive Advertising more

Worst service in town! 2/3/2009

This is the second time that I have received rude service at this restaurant. \r Both times, the waiter acts smug and short with a very disdained tone of voice. He acted as if we were inconveniencing him being there. He was very nice to his friends that were eating there. This was unbelievable. \r The taste and quality of the food was average and over-priced. The waiter told us upfront when we ordered our lunch that the salads were free and came with the meal. When I used my Entertainment card, he re-added the salads and tried to scold me for using the card. He told me that it was not valid during lunch hours; yet the Entertainment book clearly stated that the coupon was good anytime.\r This restaurant should put itself out of business soon..... Pros: ??? Cons: rude, poor customer service and average over-priced food more

YUCK 5/30/2008

I'm not really sure how this place is even open. I can only figure it must be a money laundering operation for the mob. I should have known something was up when we were served dried up old bread for the appetizer. The staff made us feel bad about asking questions, they stood there making things uncomfortable while we looked at the menu (as if forcing us to order), then the almost refused to make me a dish without meat in it. The wine was extremely over priced as was the food. The food came and it was only SO so tasting. I could probably have made myself something that tasted better. We were the only people in the restaurant on a Thurs @ 7pm. I can see why. Don't waste your time or money going here. YUCK. \r \r Oh- and I was charged and extra TWO bucks for leaving chicken out of my dish. Not vegetarian friendly! Pros: the inside was pretty? Cons: everything else more

Traditional/European Italian 4/8/2008

Mezzaluna is an absolutely delightful restaurant! This is an European style Italian restaurant where you order the Antipasti (we ordered the Prosciutto con Frutta Fresca, which was REALLY good), then the Pasta course (which is best split between you and your dinner partner as the portions tend to be large; we ordered the Penne alla Vodka, which was tasty) and then you order the Secondi, (traditionally a meat dish with small portioned side dishes). My husband and I ordered the Vistello Brandy. The veal was tender, with good flavor and the sauce was delectable. The wine selection was decent and the Tiramisu was decadent! All was priced appropriately.\r \r I've noticed other entries slamming this restaurant on service (which is good and appropriately attentive) and the size of portions. Perhaps these individuals would be better off dining at Chuck E. Cheese or some other standard, chain restaurant.\r \r I recommend Mezzaluna if you are looking for a classic, Italian meal. Pros: Food, Service more

AWFUL, SHADY STAFF, BLAND / OVERPRICED FOOD 3/11/2008

This place just started off bad. We don't usually hold it against a small restuarant if it looks tacky, which this place did. Tiny and set up like a wedding reception. There were three other groups of people dining when we were there. The head waiter/manager/whatever he thought he was, gave us the worst service I have ever experienced. He seemed disinterested that we were there and wanted only to talk to a group of people he knew. He had such an arrogant attitiude I wanted to leave immediately. The calamari was $10, overpriced, received very little and had NO taste. The food was SO overpriced, more so than even advertised. I was charged and extra $3 to sub PASTA and SAUCE for potatoes!! Unbelievable. The meal was mediocre. When receiving the check, the waiter deemed it fit to write in HIS OWN TIP that was 25% of the bill. Outrageous! Never Eat Here. Cons: Service, Food, Prices more

Suprise spot. 12/7/2007

When I first walked into mezzaluna I was shocked at how nice it looked. The restaurant is located in a strip mall but looks like it should be inside a nice hotel. I was even more impressed when I opened the menu. There was a wonderful selection of dishes that you will not find on any other italian menu in town. The meals were excellent and you could tell real effort was put into small perfections. The food had a real down home italian feel. The only downside would have to be the smaller portions of some of the dishes. Most places try to stuff you silly, this certainly is not one of them. I would definetly recommend giving this place a try, especially if you like to try new things. Pros: Great menu! Cons: Small portions on some dishes. more

Lukewarm bland food 6/20/2007

The atmosphere to this restaurant is romantic and cozy. You forget that you're in a strip mall. We were seated promptly and the service was attentive. The simple problem is this: the food wasn't that good. We began with the complimentary bread and oil. The oil was so lightly seasoned as to be almost tasteless. And the bread appeared store-bought. It was warm but not hot, which seemed to be the theme of the evening. Our shrimp appetizer came in a lukewarm creamy tomato sauce that could have used more seasoning. And it would have been better if piping hot. We had a salad of mixed greens, goat cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes that was quite tasty. For an entree, my wife had the signature dish of Chicken Mezzaluna--breast of chicken stuffed with sausage and other goodies. It was pretty good, but again could have been hotter. I had the gnocchi in a gorgonzola sauce. There wasn't anything to the seasoning except the taste of gorgonzola. And the food arrived lukewarm at best. It was cool by the time I finished. This dish especially needed to be served piping hot. The dessert of tiramisu and creme brulee was fine but not spectacular. There are better Italian values for the money at chain restaurants like Johnny Carinos or Carrabas. Even Olive Garden is a little better, though that's cutting it close. Pros: Atmosphere and service Cons: bland lukewarm food more

Fantastic Lunch or Dinner 5/25/2004

Impeccable service, wonderful food, exquisite wines, and healthy portions. Highly recommended! Small and intimate, very romantic for evening dinner or a quiet lunch. They occasionally surprise patrons with added benefits/food/drink or ??? Always enjoyable, always memorable. A quality place for a quiet business lunch or dinner, as well. But, please, don't bring the kids and demand hot dogs or PB&J sandwiches. Pros: Wonderful Food & Wine, Impeccable service, Excellent Value Cons: , No Parm & Oil w/bread more
