My partner and I have a rescue dog and we wanted to be sure our dog was in good hands. We have been taking him to Metro dog for the past year and a half and I have noticed that he...

A nice trial day 4/25/2011

Our dog is very shy and is intimidated by bigger sized dog. But we need to board her for one week so it is so nice Metro Dog offers a free trial day. The staff members are very professional. They are like-dog trainers and know our dog even better than us. Our dog did very well during the trial day. She must have played hard during her stay and she was tired out when we got her home. We feel comfortable to leave her with them next time. more

My puppy ran away from me & tried to sneak in to Metro Dog 8/15/2010

When my 9 month old puppy really really wants something he flops on the floor and rolls over and over. This is how he was found one morning by the staff outside their front door. He loves Metro Dog and he really really wanted to be let in to play! I work a few blocks from Metro Dog and that morning was not planning on day-caring the puppy. As I entered my work building I was surprised that he was suddenly nowhere to be seen. This was a huge surprise as he has separation anxiety and had never left my side in the month since I had adopted him from the shelter. Worried & not knowing where else to look I walked up the street to Metro Dog. One of the employees was just leaving the building to look for me knowing that I was somewhere nearby. She was relieved to see me & laughingly told me that the puppy was indeed at Metro Dog & had been begging to be let in. All the folks who work at Metro Dog are so kind & fun & seem to be talented at working with the dogs. My puppy is shy with people but has a happy spaz-fit whenever he sees any of the employees. They all seem to know him & his antics well & I'm happy to see him like them so much & also follow their commands when they tell him to do something. My puppy is small (about 13 pounds) but loves to play with any size dog. Usually he is just in the mix and playing with any of the dogs there, but every now and then he's in a smaller play group of only small dogs (which is so cute!). When I take him to the park or dog parks he is a social pro so I know that he's learning great skills at Metro Dog. When I pick him up he is always sleepy & happy. I always enjoy hearing stories from the staff about how the day went. One by one I'm learning the names of other dogs there as they point out his best pals. One day I was chatting with an employee as I picked him up. There must have been 20 dogs around her - but they were all sitting or laying down calmly. As she was telling me about the day, a large dog walked over to sit and lean on her leg & she absent-mindedly picked up the dog's ear & was rubbing it as she talked. Nobody moved for the several minutes I was there (especially the dog getting the ear rub). I'm so glad to have found Metro Dog. I think it's a wonderful place where dogs can have time together but also have positive human attention. It's such a great place for dogs and people too! I highly recommend it! more

Great place to leave your Dog in the City! 9/8/2009

Great place to leave my Dog. I have a Dachsund and he is very shy. He is not mean, but just not the most outgoing with people and other dogs. They are so great here at making him feel welcome. I feel so comfortable leaving him here. They are the best!!!! I actually had one of the staffers recognized him in the Greenlake area and he was really excited to see her. Makes me feel great! Pros: Very Nice People, big space, very clean and really Friendly Cons: None more

Lola loves it! 7/16/2009

I purchased a monthly package and have been So Happy with Metro Dog. I've been taking my dog twice a week and have been 100% satisfied. Pros: fabulous location, flexibility, employees. Dog People! more

Happiest Day of his week 7/4/2009

Captain sits up and looks excitedly out the window as we drive up. He loves spending a day at Metro Dog. Great caring people who love dogs. Pros: playtime for city dogs more

Doggone Good Time 6/1/2009

My young dog loves this place! He plays real hard and the staff makes sure that he doesn't overexert himself. Although he only shows up twice a week, they know his name as I walk him in the door. He comes home tired and happy. \r \r We boarded him for 4 days while we went away on a long weekend. The staff kept us up to date on how he was doing during his stay. \r \r I recommend this place as a great doggie daycare for your pup. Pros: Great Staff, good hours! Cons: Wish could pick dog up a little later. more

Home Away from Home 4/8/2009

Our dog is 5 years old and has been going to Metro Dog daycare two days/wk since he was a puppy. I am happy to say that we have had nothing but the BEST experience since day one. more

Cheers Bar for Dogs! 3/31/2009

My guy, Max, has been a regular at Metro Dog for almost 8 years. The loving care from the terrific and attentive staff is amazing...jeez maybe he can drop ME off for the day and he can go to work instead! Good boy Max! Pros: Genuine loving care for your best pal Cons: No cons from us! more

My Dog has a great time 3/17/2009

My dog thinks she is at camp when she visits, especially overnight. I like the notes they take about her stay and her interactions with the other ""campers."" She has been going for four years now. Convenient hours. Pros: Great staff Cons: none really more

Love Metro Dog 3/9/2009

We were referred to Metro Dog by friends and have not been disappointed. They are very professional - the facility is clean and our mini Dachshund loves it. We have only used them for daycare so far, but will be leaving our dog there for a week in March. I feel totally secure that he will be well cared for! more

Best Dog Care in Town!! 2/8/2009

Metro Dog is the BEST Day Care/ Boarding facility around town. I adopted a high energy hound dog from a local rescue organization. I found out the hard way about her separation anxiety issues....I needed to take my dog to a doggie day care A.S.A.P. I have boarded and used the day care for over 2 years and I'm delighted to see the same helpful smiling faces welcoming my dog. If it wasn't for the owners and staff at Metro Dog I would not have been able to work through all of the issues my dog had when I adopted her. The owners and staff are knowledgeable and compassionate dog people. They give me detailed information about how my dog behaved throughout the day with the staff and other dogs. My dog has always come home happy and tuckered out...\r Just what the doctor ordered! \r I have worked in the veterinary field for 20+ years and I highly recommend any of Metro Dog's services. Pros: Convenient, easy to drop off/pick up your pooch, friendly staff more

wonderful doggy daycare 1/6/2009

The staff is conscientious and caring and treat the dogs as they would their own. They are always polite to the owners and often go the extra mile in customer service. One time a neighbor's dog was out and although I didn't have their phone number, I knew they took their dog to Metro Dog. I called Metro Dog who not only called all the numbers they had for the owners, but one of the staff drove to the house to try and catch the dog in order to bring it back to Metro Dog and wait for the owner to show up. I have never had any problems and have been taking our dog in weekly for two years as well as numerous overnight visits when we are on vacation. more

Like Camp. For Pets. 12/30/2008

Our dog (lab/cattle dog mix) always seems excited when we pull the car into the Metro Dog lot. Lots of energetic dogs to play with. She's not huge (~40 lbs), but we've never had any problems with injuries, stress, or smell. And the people really seem to understand dogs and to appreciate return business (most of the staff recognize our dog on sight now). We had to leave our dog over the holidays recently- when we got back, we saw she was given a complimentary bath, and we had a greeting card sent from them (with a picture of our dog playing) in the mail. Pros: Great for high energy dogs; involved, friendly staff Cons: Boarding can get expensive (but is still ok compared to other vendors) more

Tuckered out doggie 12/23/2008

As soon as I turn the corner to Metro Dog, my dog starts wagging his tail and can't wait to get out of the car. He's always tired and happy after a day there. The staff cares about him, and I get a report about how he's done that day. When he boards there, the staff is aware of his age and gives him breaks throughout his stay. Pros: Attentive staff, convenient times for drop off/pick up, grooming available Cons: Barking a litte more more

Metro Dog is not safe -- Unexplained 6"" gash on my dog's head. 12/8/2008

\r I am just about to take my dog in to veterinarian to have them take out 8 steel staples in my dogs forehead. We left our dog at Metro Dog over Thanksgiving and we received a call on Thanksgiving about a gash on his head. When we returned to sort this out they told us that 'they don't know what happened' and 'the dog just came in off the floor with this huge gash'. \r \r They way they handled the whole incident was very insensitive and I caution others who are looking for a place to take their dog. I also think that people should check out other reviews of 'open wounds' See google maps reviews Lindsey F.'s comments on April 23 2008 ""We've been taking our dog here for a year and half and it's been great until recently. Within the last 3 visits my dog has come back injured twice. The first time he came home with an abrasion on his cornea and the second he had a huge gash in his ear. Both times I asked Metro Dog if anything happened and they said they didn't notice anything.""\r \r This place is no longer safe for our dog. Please watch out. more

Best daycare for my best friend-the staff is the best 9/18/2008

My dog loves this place and I liked how they helped her socialize with all different sized dogs. Everytime I go, they know her by name and when I pick her up, they give me an update on how she did, who she played with, and any other exciting things that happened that day. As soon as we drive up, my dog leaps from my car and she can't wait to get inside. I think she knows every morning that when we get in my car, she gets to see her best friends at daycare. Pros: outdoor area, friendly and knowledgeable staff, convenient location and drop off parking, clean environment, lots of services, I can go on and on..... more

So glad I found this place... 8/4/2008

Metro Dog was able to take my dog on a busy 4th of July weekend. It was a VERY pleasant, easy experience all the way around. When I picked up Bruno, two staff members described his behavior- it was clear that they got to know him while he was there. It looked like he had a great time. I really appreciated how friendly the staff was with me. I felt like they were happy to be there, and happy to have Bruno. When the need arises for doggy day care or overnight care, I will certainly use this place again. Pros: Friendly staff who obviously love and understand dogs, great customer service, flexible hours Cons: more outdoor space would be great (but I understand that is hard to come by in the city). more

My dog didn't want to come home!!! 6/11/2008

I just picked my dog up from a week long stay. He had a blast as always. He didn't want to come home!!!! I have a hyperactive cazy terrier that can be a challenge to handle. They know exactly how to handle him. Not everyone does! The facility is great. I love that they don't separate the dogs by size and put them in small unsupervised rooms. My dog is small, but likes to play with bigger dogs. They have such a large indoor area the dogs can really run around, also an outdoor area to play and go potty. They have a low employee turn over rate so the staff really gets to know your dog. I expect my dog to come home smelling like a dog. That way I know he has been playing with the other dogs and having a good time. I have been taking my dog there for the last 5 years and wouldn't take him anywhere else!!! He always comes home healthy, happy and really tired. Thanks Metro Dog. Don't know what we would do without you!!!! Pros: knowledgeable staff Cons: not close to my home more

injured dog and smelled of urine... 4/22/2008

My partner and I have a rescue dog and we wanted to be sure our dog was in good hands. We have been taking him to Metro dog for the past year and a half and I have noticed that he ALWAYS comes home smelling of Urine, even after he has been given a bath. The past few times we have taken him there for all day stays he has come home with a corneal abrasion and last night he was acting strange after all day stay. We noticed when we touched his right ear he would wine and pull away. We called Metro dog to ask if they noticed anything or if another dog had bitten our dog and they said everything was fine and they didn't see anything. After a closer examination of his ear we found that it was very bloody and there was a large wound on his ear. I feel the employees are very friendly and genuinely care about dogs, but perhaps Metro dog needs to reconsider the number of the dogs they take in each day, if they cannot effectively monitor every dog and miss something as big as a dog bite to the ear. Due to injuries and concern about the cleanliness we have decided to no longer use Metro Dog for day care. more

I feel really comfortable with leaving my best friend with them 4/3/2008

My 1.5 yo lab TJ loves "going to school" 2-3 days a week. Watching the staff work with the animals, they really know their stuff, and are Dog People. Whenever they've noticed a problem with TJ, whether off-behavior, digestive troubles, or possible injury, they've notified me right away when I pick him up (once calling me when it seemed like he'd twisted an ankle) They've also let me know right away about changes to the facility, schedules, etc. Pros: talented staff, well-run, and organized Cons: location can be tricky at rush hour for getting back to Ballard more
