Mercy Church

Wow - God has done so much in my life since coming to Mercy Church! I am so grateful to be led by pastors who chase after God, His dreams for the Central Coast, and are so invested in my relationship with Him. The first things that stood out to me about Mercy — the genuine kindness of the people, the awesome worship, their investment in my life, and Pastors who care more about what God has to say than what they had planned to say. more

Mercy Church is my favorite place to be on a Sunday!! I feel like I'm home when I'm here. The culture that is established here feels like family for sure. I have grown in my faith and understood more of who God is exponentially since coming to mercy church. I've never been somewhere that focused so much on relationship with God instead of the rules of God. I feel so accepted and seen here. Mercy Church is such a great church to be a part of. I moved to San Luis Obispo 10 years ago looking for a church community to be a part of. When I came to Mercy on a Sunday, I was welcomed by so many people who genuinely cared about me and included me in their lives beyond just shaking my hand and saying hello on Sunday mornings. They were passionate about God and lived out their faith on a daily basis. I learned what it means to intentionally care for people, to serve others, and share my faith. I joined a small group, where I developed lasting friendships and eventually started my own small group where more people have found a home and have come to know Jesus. God has blessed my life so much through Mercy Church. more

We’ve been a part of this church for 15 years and now my husband and I are raising our 4 kids here. They care about you, believe in you, and train you to live the Word! more

What I liked the most is the community and families. Great messages every Sunday, really great worship, and very friendly volunteers. It is inspiring to see so many people of every generation passionate about discovering and living in their purpose in Christ! more

I am so grateful to have found Mercy Church. I came to college looking for a church and went to this one because I felt that the person who invited me genuinely cared about me as a person rather than as a seat filled. Since my first visit, I have felt so loved and encouraged. God has really used this place to help me grow in my relationship with him in the past four years! more

I am very fortunate to have found Mercy Church. I started attending when I was in college and at a very dark time in my life. While I was struggling in my faith (and every other aspect of my life), I was shown much love, kindness, grace, and compassion. I love Mercy Church! The Pastors and the leaders have really helped me grow in my faith and helped me to intentionally live my life for Jesus. I am really happy to say I have been going to Mercy for almost eight years. In that time, I’ve had a lot of big life changes, and I’m really grateful to have had the people at Mercy be a part of my life through it all. When I first started looking for churches, I definitely wasn’t expecting to be as involved as I have become at Mercy, but I am really grateful for it. As the years have gone on, I’m becoming increasingly convinced that the pastors and leaders and members of this church are all looking to do the best they can for people and to bring Jesus to people. Its actually been pretty amazing to see so many people wanting to do SOMETHING for Jesus by sharing his message and engaging in discipleship. It has inspired me to be a better me, and to have a deeper relationship with God. Since going here, the church has also started a second campus in Santa Maria, which is such a great example of the heart that this church carries for people and their community. Definitely recommend coming to this church and getting to know some of the people here, I’m glad I did. more

When I first came to San Luis Obispo, for school, I wanted to find a church that I could call home while at school. I eventually got connected through a friend in class to Mercy Church. Since coming to San Luis Obispo and after graduating, I’ve been going here since. It’s a place where I’ve met a lot of life long friends that I’ve seen grow so much since I’ve been here as well as myself. Mercy Church is a place where I’ve been challenged to be a leader and to lead along side, those same friends. A place to learn more about having a deeper relationship with God and putting others before myself. To be able to do life with one another, serve God with each other, and help the next generation come to know Jesus. That’s why I can say that Mercy is still my home today. more

Mercy is a great church and the people genuinely care here. This church is about discipleship, the cell groups and sermons will challenge you, and people will call you to a higher level. This is nothing like the church I grew up going to. When I was new to Mercy, people wanted to get to know me and would invite me into their lives. They remembered my name and would even buy me lunch. I had never felt more welcomed by strangers. I have since joined a cell group and have leaders that I actually respect and look up to. They are not living a life of double standards and really try to practice what they preach. If you want a church that exists to check off your "Christian Box" for the week or one that just makes you feel good about yourself look somewhere else. Mercy Church is a family. You may not get along with every single person in your family, you may be asked to help out and do some chores when you don't want to, you might be told not to run into the street or touch fire because they will hurt you (even though it may seem fun at the time). They also take care of you! When you are hurting they are the shoulder to lean on, when you are hungry they offer you food, and when you are happy they celebrate with you. All of these are things I love about my own family, and am so grateful that I have Mercy when my family by blood is so far away. After coming to Mercy and learning what the vision Jesus has for my life, I don't think other churches will work for me anymore. Come to Mercy church if you really want to experience what an abundant life is. Come to Mercy if you are fed up with being a lukewarm Christian, come to Mercy if you have always felt that deep down your life should mean more than this. more

I love Mercy Church! I came about 6 years ago as a brand new christian, not knowing much about who God was, but now feel confident in my identity as a child of God. I am glad to be at a church where i am always learning and being challenged to go deeper with the Lord through sermons, classes, and small groups. I am so grateful to be surrounded by a loving and genuine group of people, especially our Pastors Terry and Denise, who have set a great example for me in personal relationship with God, leadership, marriage and raising a family. Mercy Church will forever be my family. more

I am so blessed to be a part of Mercy Church! Jesus has totally changed my life in the last 10 years I have been part of Mercy Church. I'm grateful for all the leaders who took the time to invest in my life and support me. Every person and leader is full of grace and they really care about people. The classes are incredible and really taught me how to live out my faith. Pastor Terry and Pastor Denise are incredible leaders. They lay their life down for people, they don't just preach from the pulpit. They are the real deal! more
