DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO DR. BROWN. \r
\r
We live literally down the street from this urgent care, and have been coming here for years. Dr. Janicijevic is wonderful, and my husband has chosen him as his PCP. Dr. Brown has treated both me and my teenaged son mostly adequately, and my husband less than adequately. After last night, we’ve made the family decision to never ever agree to see Dr. Brown again. From now on, I’ll call ahead to see if Dr. Brown is on staff before I go to Medi-Help, and either take the much longer trip to an ER (or maybe just try the new urgent care that just opened not two blocks away) if he is.\r

His usual bedside manner is uneven, ranging from occasionally friendly to simply polite to less than polite. He seems uncomfortable dealing with the hands-on parts of his job, and equally so with answering questions. He lacks authority in his diagnoses and he seems irritated to have to make or discuss them. \r

His attitude is dramatically worst when it comes to his OBVIOUS dislike of children. I’ve had my 6 year old in to this urgent care three times, and each time we’ve had the bad luck to end up seeing Dr. Brown. The first time he was both brusque and uncomfortable treating my then-5 year old, I thought it might be a one-off. The second time, he was less than pleasant or friendly, and his annoyance/distaste for dealing with a child was clear, but at least he didn’t have to do much (we were there for an x-ray). This last visit, he was inexcusably rough and abrupt to my 6 year old in pain. He was also disrespectful of us as a patient and a minor’s parent, as he gave no explanation of care or warning as to what he was going to do or whether it would hurt. Dr. Brown walked out of the room suddenly and without talking to me or my son, just telling a nurse in an irritated tone, “I’m leaving until he gets calmed down.” My 6 year old, was not out of control or wildly behaved, but sitting in my lap, crying from pain and fear. Because Dr. Brown had grabbed and squeezed a painful infection without offering, let alone applying, any numbing agents.\r
