Best

When I go out to eat, I expect to pay a lot for my meal. I also expect to get a lot of food for that money. I'm a bit of a foodie and only want the best. Well, this place did deli...

Worst

What seemed to be an upscale, fancy steakhouse, turned out disappointing. The kitchen at Fleming's is exposed to the guests. After 15min, I wished I wasn't sitting "in the kitchen...

Best meal I've ever had! 11/21/2004

My husband took me to Flemings for my birthday. Everything was abolutely delicious. The steaks would melt in your mouth and the potatoes are large enough to share. The dessert, a hot fudge filled chocolate cake ala mode was heavenly. Our waiter, Rob, took great care of us and made us feel like royalty. He made sure we knew about the menu and paid close attention to every detail, making our dining experience wonderful! We'll be back for our next special occasion! Top notch! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

Perfect Proposal 9/30/2004

My boyfriend and I visited Fleming's for what I thought was just another dating anniversary. The food was wonderful (I don't think I could eat another veal chop for fear that I would be disappointed by it anywhere else). The service was great (almost any employee that passed at least glanced to make sure we had everything we needed). I asked for wine suggestions and our server asked what type of wine I liked. He suggested a similar wine that I had never heard of but thoroughly enjoyed (I now look for it when I need to buy wine for an occasion). Finally, the ambience was set just right at our table for when the dessert came out - with an engagement ring stuck strategically on the plate. Thanks to Fleming's for making such a happy occasion even closer to perfect. Pros: Wait staff, food, Enthusiasm of hostess more

Private Dining 7/18/2004

I work for a local pharmecutical group in Nashville and we held a meeting at Fleming's Prime Steak House and Wine Bar. the event went off without a hitch. The servers were very attentive and our meals came out perfect. I would suggest this to anyone looking for a nice place to have a private dinner Pros: menu selection, quiet, great service more

smooth-n-satisfying 5/20/2004

It's ritual for me to dine at Fleming's when I'm in Baltimore. I've always had a great experience here. Foods great! Waiters are awesome! Coming from Miami I know good food when I taste it & this is definitely great food! I highly recommend the food, the wine, the desert & the ambience. Overall, a must!! Good times! Pros: Good parking, Friendly atmosphere, Great food more

No Brainer 5/12/2004

Having eaten at Fleming's in Houston, my husband and I were eager for this location to open. I am really surprised by the comments of poor service because we were impressed with the attention we received. More so, the food was exceptional. Our wine was so tasty that we went out and bought the same wine glasses the following day. This is a family favorite. Pros: , Location Cons: , Pricey more

Fleming's is a cut above 2/3/2004

From the bartenders, wait staff and hosts, we received excellent service; all in a friendly and professional manner. The bartenders at the bar went above and beyond with the service, giving suggestions and samples until we found a selection we liked. Our meal was served with skill and care by an attentive staff. We highly recommend the chocolate lava cake, but be sure to order in advance as it is made to order. Our table was near the rear corner and we did not experience the noise other diners have reported. A nice place for a special dinner without the crushed red velvet wallpaper if you know what I mean! Pros: service, atmosphere more

romance 2/2/2004

My husband and I have made Fleming's our anniversary spot - it is very romantic and we have always had wonderful service! Pros: Great food, Great wine choice, Good parking more

Great steaks 12/21/2003

We went to Fleming's last night and it was very enjoyable. The appetizers were wonderful; particulalry the baked brie. The steaks are prime and delicious and flavorful. I see a lot of similarities between Flemings and Ruth's Chris; which is okay by me. It's a comebacker for sure more

An overpriced spin on a classic... 12/15/2003

This restaurant is disappointing. Flemings fell short in all areas in addition to the obvious overbooking of reservations. Upon reaching our table, we had to elbow our way through other tables in order to sit down. Thus, we were within three feet of fellow diners. We saw our obviously stressed server on two occasions throughout the meal. The food presentation was deplorable...a large plate with a small filet looked unsatisfactory to a hungry customer, regardless of the seperate sides ordered, such as a loaded baked potato or spinache...a very unambitious side for such a price. Though Flemings is a grave attempt at a classy spin on the classic "Outback" restaurants, it falls terribly short in service, style, class, and overall experience. Flemings is in no way unique, which does not set it apart from any typical family-style restraunt. One is simply overpaying for a lame attempt at a delightful "ambiance". Pros: Unique decor, Vast wine selections, Convenient parking Cons: Chaotic atmosphere, Poor food presentatio, Insincere service more

Move Over Mortons & Ruth's Chris... 10/28/2003

Move over Mortons & Ruth's Chris...there is a new kind of steakhose that leaves them in the dust! I will say the steaks were of great taste & quality at all 3 of these steakhouses, but EVERYTHING else was better at Flemings. We had good experiences at the other 2, but Flemings was a WONDERFUL one each time we have eaten there! And, as a bonus they are not as pricey as the other 2. If you go, be sure to try their Fleming Potatoes - YUM! Pros: Delicious, Good parking, Wonderful Experience more

top of the steak heap 10/14/2003

my son goes to Towson University and everytime we visit we make a trip to Flemings. we are from NYC so Peter Lugers Steakhouse is our gold standard. Flemings is superb in every way. heads over Ruth's, Mortons, Prime or Shula's. stick to the excellent steaks and especially chops (lamb and veal). avoid the overly ambitious exotic preparations (marinated, seasoned, cajun or asian)crab cakes, creammed spinach, asparagus and house potatoes are a must. wines are great!! Pros: great steaks/chops, valet parking, wine selection Cons: king crab $42.00 ??, greasy fries, high noise level more

Prime 9/23/2003

Flemings is by far the best value of the high end steaks. The Wedge salad is half a head of lettuce and a large sliced tomato. It has one of the best Blue Cheese dressings you will ever find. The Prime NY Strip is broiled to perfection and with a side of Lobster Tail you can't go wrong. My wife and I split this and it is more than enough with the basket of bread. The sides are a great value as well. Each one will serve about four people. Our bill for 2 when we split a meal is less than $80. Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Good Value Cons: Pricey more

Best Steak 8/31/2003

If you want the best steak in Tampa Bay then you want Flemings. Flemings food is great from the appetizer to the desert. Make sure you try the crème bruele for desert. The service is the best around. If you want a good steak then go to Flemings. Pros: Food, Service more

Fleming's...well, it was ok I guess. 8/28/2003

What seemed to be an upscale, fancy steakhouse, turned out disappointing. The kitchen at Fleming's is exposed to the guests. After 15min, I wished I wasn't sitting "in the kitchen." The bar, also exposed to the diningroom, was filled with the "happy hour" crowd sporting shorts and tee-shirts. As for the food, the big NY Strip was very good. A la carte of course, onion rings with the chipotle dipping sauce were great. My wife ordered a special, small NY Strip with crab meat, asparagus and hollandaise sauce. She didn't enjoy the meal. The Strip was too small to avoid the lines of fat. We started with salads, they were fine. Seat "in the kitchen," loud bar, steak too small to enjoy. The big NY Strip was delicious, salads were ok, and the wine list is impressive. The only fine dining portion of my evening was the bill ($140). Pros: Steak, Wine list Cons: Noise, Ambiance, Exposed Kitchen/Bar more

Outstanding! 7/23/2003

Fleming's may lack the name of a Ruth's Chris, or The Prime Rib, but don't let that deter you. The wine list is decent, and our waitron knew his way around it. While their menu is largely in the tried and true category, they're good at what they do. The steaks our group had were superb. The sauteed mushrooms were a pleasant surprise, as were their other sides. Their selection of after-dinner single-malts and ports are sufficient. For dessert, the key lime pie was outstanding. The only negative is that it's not kid-friendly. Which is fine- if I wanted to deal with screaming toddlers and their godforsaken parents, I'd go eat at some godforsaken chain. Great for dinner for two or a group of 6-8 (but you'll definitely need to make reservations), in that their sides are ideal for sharing. It has a "clubby" atmosphere, but nothing particularly intimidating. Pros: Ambiance, Wine list, Superb steaks Cons: Dinner only, Bad for parents/kids more

Wine and Steak 7/6/2003

I prefer seafood and there tuna is wonderful. Still, like many restaurants in the desert, they cater to the beefeaters. Impeccably finished restaurant with great wine list and superior service. Pros: Service, Food, Location Cons: Price more

It'll Try Morton's in the Future 6/4/2003

The service was slow, the waiter rude, and the ambience was worse than a local fern bar. I'm very disappointed to have spent $200 for this meal - one of the worst "fine" dining experiences I have ever had. The restaurant has no imagination in the dessert menu. You can get creme brulee, cheese cake, and key lime pie anywhere. I will say that the fried brie was absolutely wonderful. If the quality of service and atmosphere were closer to the quality of the food, the trip would have been worth it. I won't be back. Pros: Good appetizers Cons: Bad Service, Poor Atmosphere, Bad Parking more

Not that great.. 5/15/2003

I was disappointed in my last trip to Fleming's. The kitchen was very slow (took 15 minutes from the time we ordered until the salads arrived), which is understandable, but the server only apologized for the slowness. A complimentary cocktail would have been nice. The food was good, but not great, which is what you should expect from the prices. more

Fleming's Poor Service 2/16/2003

My wife and three couples dined at Fleming's recently. We had 6:45 reservations and were seated 25 minutes late. The explanation given: Others were seated at our table with the understanding that they needed to leave by 6:30 and most restaurants in this area seat guest fifteen minutes late anyway. The manager agreed to make up our late seating with dessert - no charge. After dinner, each coupled ordered chocolate lava cake. The wait staff informed us it would take fifteen minutes for preparation. Forty minutes later dessert was served. The manager gave us the option to take appetizers off the check (which would take ten minutes to do) or give us free appetizer coupons. We opted to change the check. The staff offered no apology for poor service and the manager seemed more interested in getting rid of us than addressing our concerns. more

Never Again 2/12/2003

It became apparent the minute we spoke with our waitress that we would do her a huge favor by finishing dinner within 45 minutes. We specifically told her we were not in a rush. At these prices, one should be allowed to dine. No sooner had the salad plates been cleared, there was dinner! When I complained to the waitress, her response was "I'll get a manager. Don't take it out on me". Never never again. Pros: good food, nice wine selection, free parking Cons: uninterested staff, turn those tables!! more
