This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They have completely cheated me out of my security deposit. I am going to take them to small claims court if I have to. They create stress and aggravation no one needs!! more

This is by far the worst realty company that I have ever had to deal with. The staff are dishonst, often rude, and basically unconcerned with the comfort and safety of their clients. The staff who maintain her properties are incompetent and unfriendly (to put it mildly). I don't know about what the other reviewer said about Nancy Alperin's involvement Scientology or forcing her staff to be, but I think that this reviewer must be right about her discovering this sight and having her staff write fake positive reviews. I have never experienced or heard anything but the most negative things about her company's business practices. If you are smart, you will stay away and if you do not, you have only yourself to blame because you have been warned! more

It's hard to believe they are still in business. I've been in the real estate business in the Philadelphia / Wilmington areas for almost 36 years, and I can tell you that within the industry their infamous reputation precedes them. more

Maxwell Realty is a a horrible business. I would sugguest using another real estate agency if you are looking to purchase or rent. The customer service is horrible as well as the agents. I am not sure where the other comments came from but that certaintly was not my experience renting with them. In fact, Christine was rude and stood me up 2 times when looking for an apartment. She was not professional in the least. more

I recently rented a 1br apartment in Riverwest and Christine was the most thorough, intelligent, and well mannered agent i have come across in all my years of renting. She explained everything in full detail, and showed me only apartments that she knew I would love rather than waste my time like other agents. She was dressed to the nines, like how all agents should present themselves and showed full knowledge of the application process as well as details of each neighborhood i was looking in. I will definately use Christine next year when I am ready to buy. 5 Star recommendation!! more

MY HUSBAND AND I WERE NEW TO PHILADELPHIA, AND A FRIEND RECOMMENDED US TO MAXWELL REALTY COMPANY WE SAT DOWN WITH NANCY ALPERIN, AND DESCRIBED WHAT WE IDEALLY WATED. SHE TOOK NOTES, SUGGESTED WE GET PREAPPROVED FOR A MORTGAGE, WHICH WE DID THAT DAY, WENT OUT THE NEXT DAY WITH NANCY, AND 10 CONDOMINIUMS LATER THAT DAY PLACED AN OFFER ON OUR PERFECT PLACE. NANCY NEGOTIATED FOR US A GREAT DEAL. THE ENTIRE PROCESS TOOK LESS THAN 48 HOURS FOR US TO FIND OUR PERFECT HOME. WE ARE GREATFULL TO HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE FOUND MAXWELL REALTY AND NANCY WE WOULD RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE THAT WANTS A SEEMLESS AND EASY BUYING PROCESS!!! more

I recently rented an apartment in the Rittenhouse Square section of Philadelphia through Maxwell Realty Co. I worked for weeks with Christine and Nancy, they were both very helpful throughout the whole process of finding me the perfect apartment. I would refer anyone I know to Maxwell Realty for both rental and sales. Just wanted to add that Christine is a liscensed real estate agent in the state of PA. more

They are the worst business I have ever come across. I am not saying this because I am trying to be mean, it is true. Not only did they cheat me out of my safety deposit but they could seriously sued because of there contracts they negotiate. Hopefully they have rewritten them but who knows. I would call and ask questions and they wouldn't get back to me for MONTHS not even weeks, months! These people take full advantage of tenants, buyers, leasers and more. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere and if you don't have fun wasting your money on a company that has no ethics. more

The staff are unresponsive to legitiment complaints; including safety issues and general maintenence. Do not rent with them. I wish someone had warned me! more

These are the rudest people I've ever encountered. the maintenance is awful- they don't come when they are supposed to, and they don't return calls. i have 2 months left of my lease and i am counting down the seconds until I never I have to deal with the again!!! Just AWFUL!@!!! more

The administrative assistant Christine regularly rents apartments out and isn't even a licensed real estate agent! She is also rude, and refuses to rent to Asians or Blacks. I say GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! No need to rent from low lives! more

I was real happy to find this company until I moved in... Its about 7 weeks into the rental agreement and my mailbox with missing doors has yet to be fixed. Most notably, they lost my rent check and refused to pay my banks somewhat hefty, but standard, check cancelation fee. They are entirely inconsiderate and rude (much like others have said) and on more than one occasion I had to argue my reasoning for not wanting them entering the apartment without me there. I strongly DO NOT recommend this company and urge you to find someplace else, Philadelphia has much better to offer. more

The Real Estate agent (Amanda) was curt and unprofessional to say the least. When left a deposit for one month's rent, the agent refused to give a receipt. They stated that "we don't give receipts" but offered to give me a photocopy of my check. And verbally confirmed the move in date and the apartment. 10 days later, when I called in to confirm my move in date, the same apartment was leased to someone else. Maxwell deposited my "deposit" check in their account (the one that I didn't have a receipt for) and refused to return the deposit. Left numerous messages for Nancy Alperin (apparently, she owns the company). Nancy failed to respond to my emails/phone calls. After retaining counsel and threatening a civil action, I was refunded my deposit. After the ordeal, I checked their BBB rating and they had three disputes logged in (August 2005). Please be very careful. If you choose to retain their services, please get "everything" in writing. more

Maxwell Realty is a relatively small firm that has quite a number of listings in Philadelphia. They only have a handful of agents, but I have found that the service and attitudes of each agent can vary by a wide margin. I have dealt with three of the agents in this realty. Of these three, one was absolutely horrible. She kept on giving these rude stares at me while showing a property. (In my opinion, one should not have to dress as if going to a wedding just to look for an apartment.) This agent also had the nerve to call me up and speak to me as if I was beneath her. Another agent was very polite and professional. If only she had been available... Lastly, the third agent I dealt with was okay. She was willing to answer my questions, but she wasn't exceptional. In my opinion, there are more than enough real estate agents in this city who are willing to be helpful and courteous. You don't have to be treated like dirt while looking for a property. I would not deal with this firm by choice again. more
