Love this place. great fresh fish! worth every penny!

Sushi chefs with an attitude problem. The sushi is very good but there are plenty of restaurants in LA with great tasting fresh sushi without the inflated price and the inconveni...

Bustling and good 9/12/2002

Had a really good time here. I love that, though the food is extremely good and the chef is reknown, it's not a food chapel--it's loud, it's crazy busy, and some terrific food comes out of the kitchen. The sushi chefs are having a good time---if I get to eat here again, I'll definitely sit at the sushi bar. But, our omakase menus were stunningly done. A surprising standout was the hot chocolate cake (which I usually roll my eyes at) served with green tea ice cream. A complete surprise, yet one of the best I've ever had. Oh, and the kobe beef was pretty great too... more

SELECTION AT A PRICE 8/12/2002

Always the best palce in town for a huge selection of sushi delicacies and nuvo fru fru dishes... but the cost is absurd and the service only passable. The freshness is occasionally suspect but usually good. Pros: selection Cons: cost, service more

Always good 7/8/2002

I've been going to this joint forever and it's always good. I try other places but i always end up coming back to nobu's la cienega location every time. Aside from the usual sushi and sashimi, black cod w/ miso is yummy too. more

The Best 6/18/2002

This moves straight to the top of my sushi list. My wife and I had the omakase--eight courses, every one a winner, and with a lot more variety than your typical old-school sushi spot too. The vegetables and other ingredients are as fresh as the fish--I don't think I've ever lingered over a peppercorn before, but I did here. The decor is not particularly impressive, but it has a sceney atmosphere without being oppressive and you really might sit next to a movie star. Plus, it's good value: expensive, yes, but not as stratospheric as you might fear. more

Yuuuuummmm!!!!! 6/10/2002

I just love sushi and have probably tried dozens of japanese restauarants, but this one beats them all. All ingredients are fresh and you can really taste the difference. Though it has a name it can boast of, the service was great and the staff and waiters totally unpretentious. If you're on a budget, go there for lunch. I couldn't possibly think of anything negative to say about this place! Pros: Best Sushi, exceptional service more

The best 6/5/2002

Worth the price. The best sushi in town and the by far the best restaurant. more

Great for business lunch 6/4/2002

The angles of the dining room allow for a number of tables big enough and in a perfect locations for private business meetings. I asked that the chef present some of the signature plates and was not disappointed at all. I would highly recommend this location for a buisness lunch, especially for out of town or Far East customers. However, I would not take more than a group of six people there. We had five in our group and were well situated to talk while we dined. Pros: Dining area, Variety, Unique Cons: Parking, No Valet at Lunch more
