Another fine job 9/2/2015

I took my car in for routine maintenance and received excellent and trustworthy car care. They did not try to sell me un-necessary things like fluid changes that were not due or new tires when the current ones are in good shape and they take the time to explain things to me no matter how minor. Very happy with the service. more

We've been using Marv & Mikes for at least 9 years now and appreciate the reasonable costs and high quality work. For a cantankerous, old car, they are very precise about what can and should be done and at what costs and benefits. They have never done anything without first consulting us on the options. more

I had nothing to worry about 8/28/2015

Marv and Mikes have proved that trying out a new garage may not be so hard. I was hesitant at first because I already had a dedicated garage and had been to the dealership (they were too expensive for me). After calling around and getting prices from everyone in my area about brakes and rotors, I found that Marv and Mikes was the easiest to ask and absolute in the break down of prices. Rick was kind enough to email me the prices to get a good look them. They were kind enough to look at my car and told me that the work I had requested wasn't even necessary! That saved my life (and my wallet). They are suuuper busy and you may need to wait awhile for your car. But I will definitely go back for their ease of communication via email and the honesty in their work. What a gem! Why haven't I been giving them my business all this time? :} more

Great Job 8/26/2015

I had my first experience with Marv & Mike's this past week. This business is exemplary. We had some special completion requirements due to a kid going off to college and they worked with us to get the job done to meet our needs. I was also very impressed with the way in which the repair requirements were explained to me. At all times I felt like I was dealing with professionals. Everything here was done at a higher level than you would have expected from an automotive repair facility. They have earned my future business! more

Work done prior to estimate 8/17/2015

Once I was told that the back seat would have to be removed in order to perform the repair service I asked for an "approximation" of what the repair might be. The next week they called me to say that the backseat had been removed and the repair would be an additional $350 on top of the $135 charge to remove the backseat. After being assured there would be no additional charges to return the backseat to its position I decided to cut my losses and not have the repair work done. When I picked up the vehicle after closing time I found many of my backseat area belongings left out in the bed of the truck that had gotten rained on. And then the invoice for the backseat work was $27 higher than I was quoted. The owner apologized for having left my belongings exposed to the elements and refunded $27 but didn't feel the need to reimburse me for work that was done prior to an estimate even though he stated that providing an estimate before any work is their standard procedure. In knowing that an accurate estimate may have been difficult to provide I had asked for an "approximation." They have performed adequately on other vehicles of mine in the past however I was disappointed this time. more

Poor Customer Service 7/6/2015

On both of my recent visits, I was treated as if everyone is overworked and underpaid and they really didn't have time to deal with me. After the second diagnosis, I needed 10 minutes to consult with my husband before making a decision. When I called back to speak to the mechanic, they couldn't be bothered to to reach him in the garage next door, so I had to wait an hour for him to come back into the office to call me back, which meant my car could not be worked on that day. In this day of wireless phones and cell phones, this is ridiculous. And he got all huffy when I wanted an estimate on when the car would be done on the next business day. The work on both visits was well executed, but the customer treatment leaves a lot to be desired. Not the way I want to be treated when I am dishing out hundreds of dollars on repairs. I will only be back when I need a service Jiffy Lube can't handle as they treat me as a valued customer and actually have time to talk with me about any issues I have with the car. more

Coming home from work and my car starts to twerk. (Not pretty) 5/30/2015

So I'm coming home from work the Saturday before Memorial Day and my car starts to twerk!! Basically, while at a stop light, my idling is rough and it felt like it wanted to die out on me in the middle of my trip back home from Alexandria, VA. to Rockville, MD. I was fortunate to make it all the way to Marv and Mike's and they were able to fit me in with their busy schedule and not to mention a short week. I got my pcv hose and pcv valve replaced and I was back on the road. Thank you again Rick Welsh for your analysis and whomever worked on my car and thank you Rachel for keeping me updated on my car and all the information I need to keep my car running. more
