We carefully went through the discontinued sample dresses they had in the back. My daughter found a lovely dress she adored! We asked the price and happily paid and signed the contract stating there were no returns. With my documents signed the clerk(Amy) came from the back saying she had given us the wrong price, but if I was willing to pay double we could still have the dress (the dress I already paid for ). We were in shock. My daughter is heartbroken. I am shocked by this behavior and this businesses unwillingness to hold up their side of the contract.... more

Marcella's business practices lack integrity, quality, and respect. I won't labor you with all of the details so here is a brief summary. I left her salon in tears three days before my wedding carrying my Vera Wang dress. Alterations were not complete and what had been done was careless and done on the cheap. When I complained, Marcella actually told me that I should shop at K Mart where I belong. Classy. I walked ovet to Nordstrom in tears and pleaded with them to finish and at their suggestion, fix all that had been done by Marcella's boutique. I contacted Vera Wang after I returned from my honeymoon and they promptly sent me a check for my bill at Nordstrom. I've never left a review online before. This was just that awful. Unfortunately, there was no 0 rating, because that's what I would have rated Marcella's. I only wish that I knew about yelp and have read these reviews before going to Marcella's. I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks in advance, came in to the store and my name was not in the book at all. I waited around while they ran like chickens with their heads cut off, to figure out who I was and when I was scheduled for. This should have tipped me off, as to what kind of customer service I can expect, but I brushed it off and proceeded to the area where all the dresses were. Long story short, I found the dress I liked and bought it. I tried on a size 10 and it fit me perfectly, but when i went in to get measured, I was told we should probably get a 12 because the sample has stretched. Let me just tell you, this dress is silk organza, not satin, and it DOES NOT STRETCH. I thought, they were professionals at this so, I trusted their opinion and said, ok 12 it is. The very next day, I get a call from Ali (snobby bitch), and she tells me that based on my hip measurements, designer says I need a size 14. I was shocked, but she convinced me that this is what the designer has said needs to be done, so stupid me, said ok and went with it. Five months later, I came in to try my dress, and low and behold, the dress was 2 sizes too large on me. The snobby bitch tried to convince me that I had lost weight. However, 3 pound weight loss will not make a 14 that much larger on me. I then emailed them and said that I want them to either reproduce my dress in size 12 or less, or do alterations for free because this was their mistake. Ali, responded back to me and said that they would not do anything like that for me and that was final. Let me just tell you, I went in to a different store today, where the seamstress looked at me in my oversized dress, and she was in shock. She said that I should have gotten a 10 instead, and that silk organza does not stretch. What do you know!!! So, to all the brides out there, I beg you, don't screw yourselves over by going to this horrible place of business. While they may have somewhat nice dresses, your experience will be less than enjoyable. You will be paying through the nose for snobby bitches to lie to you, and will in the end be talked into something you don't need, so that you can pay even more. I am devastated right now because the alterations that my dress will need, are going to make me lose some of the great beading on the dress, and the dress will not be the same one that I ordered and fell in love with. I currently have 4 friends who are getting married next year, and I can tell you that I have told each and every one of them of the horrible experience I've had at Marcella's. If I can save one more bride the tears, pain and stress that I've had as well as money, I will be very happy. I do not want any of you to go through what I went through. All you future brides, be smart and don't go to Marcella's. I wish someone gave me this advice, but it's never too late for those of you who are still looking. Good luck! I purchased a sample gown from Marcella's a few years back but never ended up wearing the dress in my wedding. Nothing was wrong with the dress, I just ended up finding one by Luly Yang that I loved. The staff at the time was helpful and told me I could have them store the dress until was ready to collect it. Long story short, when I was able to pick up my dress I was told it would take a week for them to locate it and I needed to provide proof that I was the owner by submitting my receipt in advance of pickup. Fine. I did as I was told. However, when I went to pick up my dress I inspected it to make sure it had not been damaged and that it was my original dress. Sure enough there was a huge 3"" rust stain on the train of the dress. I asked the staff person to discuss options with Marcella and get back to me on how they could correct the situation, as it was not there when I bought the dress. The next day I got a phone call back stating that Marcella would do nothing for me because I can not prove that the stain was not there when I purchased the dress. Not only was this response disrespectful of me and my purchase, I would not have spent $3k on a stained dress! She did not offer to try to spot clean it, get it dry cleaned, comp any of her services or items. Nothing! Worst experience ever. The owner is the rudest woman (?) I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. When she got mascara on my dress and then left a spot (she told me I had to choose between a gray spot and a yellow one) when ""cleaning"" it, she dared me to try to find another dress on short notice. Horrible woman. Horrible service. It's easy to be lured by the dress options there but not worth the risk. ** The one-star rating is only because zero wasn't an option. more

The week i got engaged i made my first appointment at Marcellas. I knew that they had a great selction of bridal gowns and carried all the hottest designers. My best friend who got amrried a year ago, got her dress at Marcellas and loved working with the staff there. I cant believe these other reviews that im reading. My consultant was amaazing and helped me find the perfect dress. After placing my order the staff was helpful in helping schedule appointments for fittings, and accessories. They were AMAZING!!!!!! Im really glad i chose Marcellas over some of the other bridal boutiques in the area. They provided me with everything i was looking for in a dress shopping experience. I went to Marcella's, ready to purchase a dress. The sales associates were down right rude. I was the only one in the boutique and they didn't ask me if I needed help and I had to flag one of them down to even try on a dress. After looking through their scant selection of dresses, I actually found a lovely dress among their sample dresses (beautiful vera wang). When I inquired about alterations on sample dresses, the girl who finally helped me get a dressing room informed me that they didn't alter sample dresses. Another sales girl saw I was trying on a sample dress and informed me that alterations on sample dresses started at $500. After contending with snooty girls at this supposed upscale and elegant boutique I left without the dress. I'm sure I can purchase it elsewhere. And if I can't I'll find a different dress. I purchased my beautiful Jenny Lee dress last June. It just arrived last week. I was working with the most wonderful sales associate, Chelsey, she gave me awesome personalized service. When I called to check the shipping date of my dress toward the end of January I was told Chelsey was no longer with the company and that they had no idea when my dress would come in. This was unacceptable, considering I spent ample cash there. Several calls after that ended in the same manner. Then, one month after the expected delivery date I get a call saying my dress is in. Yay!!! So I try to make an appointment to verify it is the correct dress and pay the balance and they don't want me to because they are having a trunk show, but I have to pay by Monday. The sales girl told me ""just pay over the phone"". First off that is rude, second we spend over $6k there and it would be nice if i was still treated like a valued customer. and for that kind of money I would like to mak esure my dress is in good shape, and the right one! I was really disappointed with the salesperson I had to deal with at Marcella's. At first, she was very friendly, but as our correspondences progressed she became very moody and sent me strong email messages that really upset me and I ended up reporting her. Brides - if you're gonna spend that kind of money wouldn't you want the customary service to match?! I'm just saying. I ended up going elsewhere. It's too bad, because they do carry high end designer dresses that are harder to find in the Seattle area. I ended up traveling outside the Seattle area to try on dresses. If I could give negative stars, I would. I hated the treatment from the sales staff. The salon carries high end dresses but they have the rudest, most inexperienced sales staff. Bridal shops are mistaken if they think of their customers as one time purchasers. They have lost all future referrals from me but have earned my disgust and now, this review. I purchased my gorgeous Jenny Lee wedding dress, (see JennyLeeBridal) from Marcella's La Boutique this past January and I am so glad that I did. Their dress selection is fantastic and I was treated so well each and every time that I made my 3 1/2 hour drive from Portland to Marcella's. I have to say that it was an extreme pleasure to see them and I looked forward to each and every trip. Please READ this, Marcella's is by far the best bridal shop in Seattle! I have gone to all the shops literally here and in Portland too. They have by far the best designer gown collection and sales staff that I have met anywhere. I even went to New York, they were so rude. They don't try to pressure you like other stores in Seattle and they really try to make sure your experience is excellent. If you want name brand designer dresses that you have heard of, lol, Vera Wang, Monique Lhuiller, Reem Acra, than please go to Marella's. I just love them, you absolutely won't be sorry! more

I'm not sure the ladies that were dissappointed went to the same Marcella's La Boutique that I went to this afternoon. I visited two shops that were referred to me. Marcella's was, by far, more accomodating, had a larger selection, and the staff spent alot of time with me trying and retrying on a zillion dresses. Marcella remembered my friend by sight from 3 yrs prior, and I got a hug out of Kitty, one of the associates. You can't expect a place like that to be on time all of the time. You sign a document that says 'No returns or exchanges' so you can't be mad about that. If you don't want to spend more than 2000$ on your dress then don't go there, it's not for you. I'm not sure why there are so many terrible reviews on Citysearch about Marcella's. I had an amazing experience! Marcella's was the first and only place I went to try on wedding dresses and my wedding dress ended up being the 3rd one I tried on! My sales person was extremely helpful and honest and Marcella was always there when I was in for fittings and trying on my dress and she was fantastic! Having done our research, we knew that Marcellas would have the type of designer gowns we were looking for. When we called ahead to make appointments, we mentioned that we were a lesbian couple, and they were very welcoming. We spent about four hours trying on bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses with one of our bridesmaids and had a great time! Marcella herself was present at every one of the subsequent fittings and showed a genuine personal interest in us, our plans and our satisfaction. The staff was always courteous and helpful, and the seamstress did an amazing job. Yes, this is an upscale salon, you need to make an appointment to see the gowns, but its so worth it. Marcella is a true professional and the boutique provides the ultimate in bridal pampering you definitely get what you pay for.
