NOT A GOOD CHOICE unless your family 6/3/2012

NOT A GOOD CHOICE unless your family member can INDEPENDENTLY dress, walk, eat, bathe, and most importantly advocate for themselves at this facility (or you can be there with them ALL day/everyday). My family member was here about 2 weeks. Long enough to starve and dehydrate to death. I believe that only during visits from family members did he eat or drink and quickly his health deteriorated and he passed away. When he was admitted he was talking, eating and walking with a walker but all with some assistance due to decreased strength and fatigue from a stroke. He went to get stronger to go home. The MD or PA comes only once a month, so no one is monitoring the medical condition of the patients unless your own doctor comes to check. NO ONE monitors or keeps track of food and water intake, urine output, or for signs that something is wrong. He contracted C-diff (which is common in SNF) and skin was raw on thighs and back where he just laid in bed. During my visits, I overheard One woman so sweetly asking for a bath. She stated that there was a mishap the day before and no one came to bathe her so it had been 4 days. The desk clerk told her she would have to wait until tomorrow. more

Don't Believe ALL of What you read 3/28/2012

I to as many of you reading this review saw the reviews that were given to this facility. I have had the plesure of having my loved one at Heartland of West Houston for a few months. As with any facility of its kind you will experience both good and bad but the true test of the facilities quality is how the bad situations are handeled. I can speak from personal experiece after having my loved one in more than one facility that the administrative staff at Heartland is one of the best that I have encountered. I want to keep this brief so in closing I will say you can't believe all of what you read. Just take a tour ant they will show you the rest. more

Place of no Return!!! 11/8/2011

This place is worst than a funeral home because they kill people there. The nurses killed my father by not taking his vital signs, His blood sugar was 16. The MD at the hospital stated that my father had to left alone for at least 8-10 hours before anyone noticed him. My father was there for REHAB!!! Bad facilty. more

Very unsanitary 10/20/2011

My mother was there for three months after surgery and contracted mutiple infections. C-diff three times and various others. No hand washing was seen by me. She also lost over 20 pounds as a result. We finally were fed up and moved her out. The next place said she had a horrific anal infection from improper cleaning. My mother subsequently died and I believe this place contributed to her death. Very unskilled and very unprofesional and very unsanitary conditions. more

DONT BE FOOLED! 8/31/2011

This place is not even good enough to bring your dog much less your family member! My brother is here and he is not being taken care of. They promise one thing and end up doing something else, they dont bathe him like they are supposed to and now he has bed sores, they do not give him the right medication, food is awful, there is always an odor in the hallways, and the nurses dont come when he calls and they are rude to family members including the administrative people. Yes the rooms are large and there is a flat screen TV and they have a really good REHAB but his overall care is horrible and his family are trying to move him out of there ASAP!! That place is being investigated for their neglect for disabled people and medicare fraud. DONT bring your family to this facility!!!! We also tooked the tour and loved the patio rooms but we soon found out how bad this place really is. more

They Obviously Turned This Place Around 5/19/2010

I was a little hesitant to bring my mom here after seeing the reviews, but a tour and good word of the discharge coordinator helped ease my mind to sign her up. It was one of the best decisions that I have made during this roller-coaster ride through Cancer. The room they had her in was gorgeous with a flat screen TV and cable. She had a nice quiet hospital bed and all of the staff was on the ball the whole time. When you walked out into the hallway, they weren't just sitting around the internet or gossiping in the lunchroom, but they had their noses down and working. They have a top notch fitness area with plenty of toys for differing physical abilities. My mom just died in this facility this morning, so my journey with them is now over...but Heartland has made this as pleasant of an experience as possible considering the circumstances. I would recommend that you bring your loved ones there. Pros: Attentive staff and well designed rooms Cons: None come to mind more

Heartland Health Care Ctr is a dangerous place for any patient. 12/31/2009

My mother was here for rehab after hip surgery. She had her toe broken by the shower aide who pushed her down the hall with her foot turned under the wheelchair. On 3 separate occasions we witnessed food needing refrigeration left out in a cart by the nurses' station for 4 hours (have pictures). No intercom so calls are left unanswered until someone finally comes to a patient's room. No way for a patient to call for help if a fall has taken place. One Sunday the evening meals for all patients on our hall were sent back to the kitchen because the "aide" didn't have time to serve the patients. After a few patients kept asking about their dinner we were able to get the meals brought back and served.Saw pills in the floor of the hall on three occasions (no way to know who didn't get their meds those nights). An uncapped syringe was left on my mother's bedside tray from another patient. (Mom wasn't receiving injections) Mother sufferred diahrrea from the food on multiple occasions. I reque more

Heartland Health Care Center is a Nightmare!!! 8/20/2008

Do not send your family here! This place is a nightmare! The facility is filthy, the staff is non hygenic, the administrative staff is not professional. The nurses are inconsiderate! Medication errors have occurred and have been conveniently covered up. Now there are a few ""techs"" that are A+ employees but that is it! The food is recycled garbage! It's extremly hot upstairs and freezing downstairs limiting your visiting areas for the population housed there. The shower lifts are filthy with athletes foot and other fungusis. And this is all I have time for - the smell of this experience is forever imbeded. Pros: Poor Management! Cons: Poor Management! more
