Dr. Mann & Dr. Jones & all the medical assistants are very kind, patient & helpful, however, that is NOT the case with the front office staff. They ignore you when you walk in & once they have to acknowledge you, they do so with frowns on their faces. They are definitely not ""warm"" people by any means. It's a shame because all the medical professionals are so nice & warm yet the front office makes you not even want to ever go back. more

I have been going to the allergy dept. at Mann, Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic in Cary for over 2 years. I decided to go because I could not breath at night from Spring through Summer. After tests, they found out that I am severely allergic to tree pollen and all weeds and summer grasses. I am excited to say that I am just about sympton free. Matt in the allergy department is great. He is very knowlegable and I feel great since I have been getting my shots. He is very friendly and he gets you in and out of the office very quickly. I would higly recomend this place to anyone who suffers from allergies. more

I have been going to Mann ENT for over six years now. I now live and work half an hour away, but I have had such a positive experience there that it's worth the trip! I see Dr. Spector and am so thankful for his attention to patient requests and preferences and his honest responses to my questions. I highly recommend him and have referred many people to Mann ENT. In my time there I've had sinus surgery, visited the different departments (hearing, scans, etc) and currently most of my visits to Mann ENT involve their Allergy Clinic. I was previously unwilling to do allergy therapy (needles and I don't get along so well) but now that it's available, have been doing the sub-lingual drop therapy for the past year and half. It has been a great experience--which is not the kind of thing most people have to say about allergy therapy! Since I get to do most of it at home I only had to go in to get my initial allergy test, and now go in once every three months for my next vial. All of my visits have been good--heck, even getting the allergy test done wasn't terribly miserable because Matt was so good about talking to me the whole time! Matt also takes the time to answer any questions thoroughly, which helps a lot too. The only negative things I have to say are that it's a bit confusing trying to find the allergy clinic the first time (there are signs all over the place, but it's around the back and you can't see it until you've parked) and that sometimes the wait time in the main office is quite long. But, I know that wait is because they really value giving their patients the time they need, and/or because their morning surgery is running long, and so now I go knowing their might be a wait, and I bring a book to read. All in all, I highly recommend Mann ENT, Dr. Spector and the Allergy Clinic! They have improved my allergy & sinus situation immensely, have very kind, attentive staff members and genuinely listen to their patients.\r more

\r I have been a patient at the Mann, Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic for 3 years. The allergy department, specifically Matt Butala, is second to none. Weekly allergy shots can be a hassle, among other things. Matt encouraged me to stick with it, and sure enough, my usual symptoms have all but disappeared. With approval from Mann E&T and guidance from Matt, I now get weekly shots at home via my wife. Bottom line, Mann E&T is the place to go for immune therapy. more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! \r \r When my teenage son was 15 years old, he was told by an ENT doctor that he should get surgery for his deviated septum when his face was fully developed at the age of 18. \r \r When my son turned 18, we went to Mann ENT. Dr. Spector said my son would need a number of visits and tests before the surgery could be scheduled - allergy testing plus a follow-up appointment for that, CT scan plus a follow-up appointment for that, etc. Of course all of these appointments and tests involved co-pays and deductible payments which cost quite a bit of money. Thinking this must be normal procedure, we started the long process. \r \r After completing all the appointments and tests, Dr. Spector asked if my son had at least four sinus infections a year. My son replied no, that he simply had a deviated septum issue. Dr. Spector said to get the deviated septum surgery approved by the insurance company, he needed to say that he had at least four infections a year - and in fact, Dr. Spector wrote in my son's chart that he currently had a sinus infection, and wrote an antibiotic prescription to be on his medical record. But Dr. Spector told us there was no need to fill the prescription since my son really was not having any sinus issues. I thought that was rather strange and deceptive but assumed it was all a quirky insurance issue.\r \r A week later, the finance person at Mann ENT called to tell us that the surgery was first denied by BCBS. Then she called back a day later to say that Dr. Spector had spoken directly to BCBS and persuaded them to agree to the surgery. I was confused and concerned that the surgery might not be covered and decided to call BCBS myself. BCBS told me that Dr. Spector had gotten approval not only for the deviated septum surgery but also for major sinus surgery - something we had not requested and something my son did not even need!\r \r I contacted Dr. Spector's office and expressed my concerns about the unnecessary surgery which my son did not need. Dr. Spector claimed that I didn't ""completely understand"" and that he would be happy to discuss my concerns with me if I wanted to set up another appointment to see him. Uhhhhh - NO.\r \r Instead, I took my son to a reputable ENT doctor which a friend recommended. Not revealing what had happened with Dr. Spector, I asked this doctor's opinion of what my son needed - and after a quick but thorough examination, we were told my son need surgery for his deviated septum - nothing else. I inquired about sinus surgery - the doctor said absolutely not, there was no indication of sinus surgery being needed and that kind of surgery was extensive and would not help my son in any way because his sinuses were totally fine. I then asked what procedures the doctor needed to perform to schedule the deviated septum surgery - allergy testing, CT scan etc. - and the doctor replied that no further testing or appointments were needed. \r \r The doctor scheduled the surgery for two weeks later, it was a complete success and my son's issues were completely resolved.\r \r I asked Dr. Spector to refund the money I had paid them for the unnecessary visits and procedures. Both he and his staff were very rude and refused to make any adjustments - even though all of the tests and visits they required were unnecessary.\r \r With doctors like this, there is no surprise that our insurance and medical costs are sky-high. Fraud is never a good thing.\r more

The office needs updating.....exam room not very clean and bathroom needs to be fixed up. We too waited at least 45 minutes to be seen( with an infant in tow). I am quite sure the physicians can afford to completely redo the child waiting area and should do so. The practice may start loosing patients after all of these poor reviews. more

Worst medical experience 2/13/2012

Dr. Mann recommneded and performed surgery to fix a deviated septum for my chronic post nasal drip. (Constant lump in my throat). The pre surgery visits were all great. Dr. Mann was very enthusiastic and optomistic. There were no surgical complicationsl. Unfortunately, the post surgery experience was awful. I was almost completely unable to breath for a week. The worst part is that the surgery did not help. During my next follow-up visit I explained that I didn't feel any improvement. Dr. Mann responded by walking out of the office without saying a word to me. I was stunned. Needless to say I did not return for additional follow-up visits. No one called to apologize or to check up on me. This was the worst medical experience I ever had. more

Garbage and a waste of time and a rip off 1/30/2012

If I could I would give no stars and 2 thumbs down! If you can't get a appointment directly with Dr. Mann do NOT waste your time....even then it is a rip off if you have a co-pay of 60$. First time I went my appointment was at 2:30, DID NOT GET TO SEE THE DOCTOR UNTIL 3:30 and still had to sit in the room for another 45mins, just for the dummy to schedule me 6 more random appointments and sleep studies. The second time I went I had a allergic reaction to one of the drugs they gave me and ended up in the hospital for the night and a week at home sick! Just because DR Mann had so much he had to do and forgot that he had scheduled me appointment and some other dum dum had to fill in for him and gave me the wrong meds! And get this , I went to a second doctor to get a second opinion and IN ONE APPOINTMENT they figured out that I have vertigo. So lets do the math 1 appointment with a 25 dollar co-pay instead of a 60$ to see a specialist instead of 6 Appointments at 60 a pop . thats 360 bucks just to get in the door for him to tell me the same thing. Trust me I didn't cancel any of the appointments and they can keep sending me the bills and Ill keep shredding them! No good and simply pathetic ill see them in court ps they hire people that have no idea what they are doing - hiring surg. tech. grads to do there medical asst. that have no idea what they are doing and are inexperienced in that field and have no business doing that - They are to cheap to pay someone the right wages that actually know what they are doing! more

Mann ENT takes care of their patients 7/14/2011

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Spector for about 3 years. She had sinus surgery twice and based on conversation with the nurses in the hospital they are very impressed with Dr. Spector and his patient care. As mentioned in earlier reviews, there are times that you have to wait for Dr. Spector, but given the time and patience he has with my daughter, I feel that he is worth the wait. My daughter also receives allergy treatment from the allergy department. Matt is very professional and responsive. We rarely have to wait for allergy shots. I recommend Dr. Spector and the allergy department. more

Great place! 7/14/2011

I've been going to Mann ENT for about 4 or 5 years now for my allergies. Waiting times to see dr Spector can be about 30-45 mins but since I only see him about once a year or so it's not that big a problem for me. I go and get my weekly allergy shot and never really have to wait. Never had a problem with the staff, always had great friendly service. I've recommended the place to friends and they're happy with it too. more

i say 3/8/2011

Abysmal Attitudes 9/17/2010

This review is from an experience I had one year ago, so to be honest, things may have improved. I certainly hope so. I was absolutely stunned by the terrible attitudes of the majority of the staff here! The front receptionist was heaving sighs and giving people a tone, pretty early in the day. She seemed indifferent to anyone's concerns, especially about the wait. The nurse that attempted to ask me questions and input my information into their computer system was, by far, the rudest nurse I have ever had an experience with in my life. It came to a point when I was so irritated with her sneering and incredible snottiness that I got angry with her. She backed down, but I should have left then and there. I noticed that she wasn't wearing a name tag. Nobody was, that day, except a technical employee who was nicer than the rest of the staff was. The doctor may have been nice, though I saw him for maybe five minutes. I had waited an hour, went through x-rays of my sinuses, got treated like a leper, only to be told to take some drops and consider a major, expensive surgery. The allergy testing staff that is down and behind the main office was very nice, to my surprise, when I went to see them a few days later. I went back to get my records, months down the road, when I had found a better clinic. And even the records clerk was incredibly rude and difficult! To the point that she made a real donkey of herself, not realizing I was standing close enough to hear and see her. How can so many people at such a major medical clinic be so unpleasant and unfriendly? I will never, never go there again, and I warn all of my friends and family. Steer clear. more

Bad Experience 7/15/2010

This is one of the worst clinic we ever visited. They have tons of instruments and they will use everything to determine and mention that everything functioning fine. \r When they tell you that they want to perform different tests.. think twice, becuase finally you will end up paying a huge money.\r I defenetly wont recommend this clinic. Pros: Nothing Cons: Poor service, Costly and poor service more

Waiting for over an hour to see the doctor is expected based on personal experieince and what the staff says 9/10/2008

After waiting about an hour to see Dr. Mann, the staff informed me it is typical to have to wait an hour or more to see the doctor. They didn't appear to see anything wrong with this. My appointment was scheudled for 10 am and it was likely I would not have been seen until 11:15 - 11:30. As a ploicy of mine I do not wait more than 20 minutes for a doctor. Since this was my first visit and I needed to see a physician, I decided to stick it out for a bit longer. At 45 minutes I was told it would be at least another 15 to 20 minutes so I asked for my file and left. I do not recommend this doctor for these reasons. He may be good at what he does but his total lack of respect and courtesy for others turned me off. Pros: none that I know of Cons: the Doctor expects his patients to wait for an hour or more for a scheudled appointment more

long waits, poor follow up, smooth surgery 2/15/2007

Eighteen month old son had ear tube placement 2-3months ago. The sugery went well. 2 of 3 times he was seen in the office we waited 45minutes - 1hr because the Dr was late. We were the first or second appointments of the morning. Then he only spent a small amount of time with us. Son recently had bleeding from his ear and discharge. We called to have him seen and the receptionist said they did not have an appointment for another week. Put us through to the nurse line and we left a message. Nurse called back with instructions to use drops we had never heard of, did not have a prescription for, and did not state how long to give the drops or clearly the dosage. We called back and got some clarification but by that time our pediatrician agreed to see him the same day. He was diagnosed with ear infection. Pros: smooth surgery Cons: long wait, short exams, poor office staff, poor follow up and responsiveness more
