Best

The place is nice and the service was excellent. I would definitely go back & try more of their appetizers.

Worst

I'm writing to inform of my displeasure with my experience last night (Friday, April 30th) at this restaurant. Yesterday was my birthday and my family and I had plans to go to ano...

Slow as other reviews had said 7/21/2005

though overall a fun experience, we were quickly taken to our (nice) table once we arrived, and waited for quite some time even to get a menu for my wife or water. The service was extremely slow and they weren't packed...it seemed like they were short help and our waiter was overwhelmed with the number of tables he had. The food, though, was very good...though my wife's veal was too gummy to chew easily and she left half of it. The seared Lobster sushi rolls were most excellent!!! In the end, a quirky, eclectic setting with weak service for the $100+ price for two and not one I'd readily recommend. Pros: atmosphere, unique menu Cons: slow service, high prices more

Treated like Royalty 7/12/2005

My fiancée and I celebrated our anniversary at this wonderful place. I called ahead and asked for the owner to put some flowers/candy or something that my fiancée would appreciate out on the table when we arrived. The owner was more than happy to do this for me and did not ask me to pay for this service, although I did compensate her for this act of kindness. Wonderfully romantic and a place that I would not hesitate in visiting again!!! more

NO SILVER....the wine 6/30/2005

Being in the medical field I have the opportunity to eat @ some great places. I would have to say Mambu's Tuna is wonderful. I love great seafood and I love a great steak! We had a bottle of champagne to start and then I asked the server to bring a bottle of Silver Oak. She said"" What's Silver Oak?"" mmmmm...I was embarassed for her. All in all not a bad experience but you should carry Silver Oak on your menu. My boss loves Silver Oak and I would visit more often if that was on the list. more

Great Birthday Bash! 4/6/2005

Anita and the staff at Mambu treated my group fabulously! When the group grew from 10 to 25, it was no problem, the staff just added more tables. Ricky, our server, took such great care of everyone in the room! Everyone had a wonderful food. I had the Tuna! It was so tasty! The Mango Cosmo Martini was yummy! I will tell all my friends to stop at the Mambu! Pros: Service, Food, Ambience more

Yummy 10/24/2004

My fiance told me we were going to have an anniversary date. After the best massage ever, he brought me here for our anniversary dinner. The food was wonderful, it's a cool looking place and the service was fabulous too. So close to downtown without all the tourists. Mambu is wonderful, creative and doesn't try to be one of Nashville's trendy restaurants. It Just Is! Pros: fabulous food, courteous servers more

not all that 9/24/2004

The decor and ambiance of Mambu is certainly cool and quirky and I received good, but not overly speedy, service. However, the food is just OK - nothing special. The menu items offered sound like they should be good, but something happens in the kitchen to just kill the meal. My husbands paella-ish dish was overly hot without having any real other flavor and my fish had a poor texture. And really guys...stop with the mango salsa already. Since I am allergic to mango, my menu choices were nearly halved. Pros: fun decor, comfortable ambiance more

Love Mambu 8/20/2004

We recently made our first trip to Mambu and everything was marvelous. They had so many wonderful offerings it was difficult to choose. My favorite things were the tomato salad (made with tomatoes from the owners garden) and the blackberry shortcake with lemon curd. The owner and staff were extremly friendly and fun. Great atmosphere and nothing to disappoint at Mambu. more

Wonderful Experience 6/15/2004

My husband and I went to Mambu's a few months ago for the first time. He had been there already for lunch with co-workers and thought it was a nice spot. He raved so much about it that we decided to go there for an evening out. It was even BETTER than I expected. The atmosphere was wonderful, the food delicious and the whole evening was just a good, good time. It was so romantic. My husband and I sat there and just talked and laughed and had a great great time together. We have been HIGHLY recommending it ever since. more

Cool place! 5/11/2004

We dined at Mambu last night, and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was really relaxed, and the service was friendly and right on time. Food was exceptional. This is a great place for a romantic dinner for two or even a larger group of people. Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere more

Terrible 5/5/2004

We went to Mambu with 4 other friends for what we thought would be a nice, relaxing dinner. The hostess was rude right when we walked in. When we were finally seated it took the server 20 minutes just to fill our water glasses. There was never a hello, how are you or any sort of greeting. Just rude! Perhaps they want it that way. If so Mambu will not last long in this town. There are too many other places that care about customers. Pros: decor Cons: , rude staff more

Manbu! 4/18/2004

I loved this restaurant. The duck was spectacular. The martinis were incredible. The staff was very pleasant. more

Great Night Out 2/8/2004

Once again Mambu did an outstanding job of providing us a great night out. Reservations are a must for a weekend night and the later you go the more relaxed the atmosphere. Make sure and try the suggested wine, this month a great wine and a great value. The entrees were interesting but at the same time pretty straight forward which was refreshing in the age of ""fusion cuisine."" For a great ending you have to go with the coconut cream pie -- out of this world. Pros: Valet, Interesting Food, Dessert more

Over-Rated 2/8/2004

The food was about average, but not worth your money. It was over-priced and we definitely were not blown away by the atmosphere. A decent experience but there are better options out there. Pros: Unique food, Valet parking Cons: , Cramped more

Really like this little place.. 1/23/2004

I have to disagree with those reviewers who complained about the owner being 'snooty'. Last night I went in with a group of friends, about 12 of us, and while being younger, we've often gotten ""the look"" at some nicer restaurants, and that was NOT the case the other night. I thought we were treated very well, in fact. If those reviewers found THIS place intimidating, they likely haven't eaten out very much... the ambience is chic/cutting-edge, but homey and friendly, too. Foodwise, a good menu with the ""fusion"" restaurant standards, but their specials add diversity and interest. Wine and martini lists = A+! Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: price more

Mambu is FAB-U! 11/25/2003

I had dinner at Mambu tonite with my husband and in-laws. We are all new to Nashville and it was up to me to decide where we would dine. Because of all the fabulous comments on Mambu, I chose it. Boy did I impress the in-laws! Ambiance was soft, candelight, smooth jazz quietly played while we ate our dinners. Our server was incredibly attentive an sweet as could be. And the pepper crusted salmon was to die for. We will definetly be returning to Mambu - despite the somewhat snotty hostess! Pros: wonderful wine list, romantic ambiance, valet parking more

snottyhostess 9/20/2003

If you don't mind having the hostess role her eyes at you because you have never been here before. If you don't mind having a less than attentive server, or waiting an exceptionally long time to get your meal, then this may be the place for you. Snobby restaraunt can take lessons from Mambu. Now about the food. The dinner may not have been worth the wait but it was definately delicious. The martinis may be the best in the state if you don't mind the wait. I doubt that I will ever want a martini that badly that I can't just make it at home. Pros: food, drink Cons: service , hostess, wait more

Great DIning 8/21/2003

Great food and very good service. This is undoubtedly the most bang for your buck in Nashville. more

I will never be back... 8/21/2003

Ive been twice now. First time was nice, second was a disaster. We even invited 6 friends. From the snotty middle aged hostess to an inattentive waiter, to very poor food (compared to what we had before), my girlfriend and I felt bad having suggested we go there. Being in the 22-25 age crowd, I guess we did not belong there, even though our bill was $400. Of course we got stuck with the standard %18 gratuity, so maybe that is why she did not pay attention: work the other tables. I was a server in a good establishment for about 4 years, and this is not how you treat your customers. Pros: ok parking, downtown Cons: service, some food items, decor more

WONDERFUL! 8/14/2003

I recommend Mambu to everyone who wants a delicious meal and martini....not necessarily in that order! The service, food, and ambiance were all equally electric and when I am back in Nashville I will be back at Mambu! I hope your experience is as incredible as ours was! Pros: Good Parking, Quick Seating, Friendly staff more

Nothing Better Than Cory and Anitas Food 5/27/2003

Mambu has consistently proved itself over and over again to be the BEST of the ""Bistro"" type restaurants in Nashville. Consistent, inspiring and original..and the folks in the kitchen are not afraid to season the food. Great service, friendly and warm..I always feel welcome and at home. Keep it up!! You are the BEST in the sea of mediocre restaurants!!! Pros: delicious food, service, good bartenders more
