What happened to Big Tony? Mallorca is going down the drain now! 11/8/2008

I'm sorry but I'm a huge lover of Spanish and Portugese food. When Big Tony was running the show at Mallorca, that was the place to be, the place to dine and be seen. You were treated like a king and no request was out of reach. The food was to die for. I don't know where Tony went but if he's managing another restaurant I'd like to find out because ever since he left Mallorca, it's gone down the drain. This Suzy guy is a joke who is managing now. The food is not the same and I feel sorry for their loyal waiters who have been there for year still giving quality service because this new joke for a manager they have running the show is nothing but an egotistical fat uneducated loser. I'm sorry but there is something to be said about a knowledgeable manager like Tony who knows the customer is always right and and an uneducated manager like this new Suzy guy who has no class and has no concern at all for it's clientele that spend the big money there. After my last visit there, I will never return. Did they take away the great chef when Tony left or what? If anyone knows where Tony went with that great chef please post. Thank you and don't visit Mallorca you'll be disappointed. I would recommend either Blue Point or Johnny's Downtown if you're in the warehouse area for now. Pros: It has a bar Cons: Poor Mangement and Food as of this past year more

Poor Managment at Mallorca 11/8/2008

My family and I, along with many friends have dined at Mallorca for years because of their quality food and great service and attention to detail. Pros: It's in the warehouse district Cons: Under poor horrific managment since 2008 more

Never more 1/23/2008

I went to MALLORCA with 6 friends from NYC visiting me here on Cleveland, The service was ok! But after we set down We asked for SANGRIA and it was horrible, tasty more like water that anything else and wasn't any fruit as supposed be. Anyway I complaint to the MANAGER and he told me that the sangria was fine and even we left all the Sangria on the glass he still charge us for it! Never more go back there again! Come on after $250 bill he could make up to us since we didn't drink it. more

Don't let Mallorca ruin you New Years eve 1/10/2007

After arriving promptly for an 8 o'clock reservation, my date and I waited over an hour for our table for two. No problem, we had eaten here once before and it is well worth the wait. Upon ordering the broiled sirloin steak, I asked the server if it would include the del monaco and the filet. He assured us it would. When our food came, the filet (which is about 1/3 of the steak) had been cut off. After a few tries, we were able to get our servers attention. Hesitantly, he agreed to have our final bill adjusted. Call me stingy, but we were comped $6. I was then met by a far from courteous manager. He explained to me the steak had been served that way for a decade. I replied, ""We ate the same thing here 1 month ago, and it was NOT served this way."" We were comped a few more dollars by a manager with no regard for customer service. We felt the overall service, on New Years Eve, was very disappointing and management was quite rude. As a downtown resident for over 3 years, I intend on giving Mallorca no future business. This establishment did not make an effort to please patrons who chose to spend their new year at Mallorca. FYI, they do NOT take Discover. Pros: Great Menu Cons: Lackluster service more

Good place, not my favorite 11/19/2006

This restraunt was OK. The appetizers we got were delicious, the prices were a little up there...but I got a Crab-stuffed lobster tail, and I may be shunned for saying this...but it was almost too big. It lacked flavor for size. I would have much preferred a smaller tail that tasted a little better. Pros: ambience Cons: bigger not always better more

What a let down 3/10/2006

What a let down. The bread served was a commercial french bread product. Butter was served in plastic single serving containers (like you get from a cafeteria). We ordered Seafood Casserole (Paella) (25.00), and a Seafood platter that was on special (43.00). The Meal came with a small salad that was actually the best thing we had: crisp greens and vegetables with a delicious spicy dressing. The dinner also came with steamed carrots and broccoli, rice and deep fried potato thins. The Paella was a flavorless mixture of white rice, vegetables and shell fish. It tasted like it was simply thrown into a pot of water and boiled......nothing special. The Seafood platter was more flavorful but nothing I would rave about. The side dishes were very average. The service and ambiance on the other hand, were excellent. Overall, that was our first and will be our last visit to Mallorca. Pros: Service, Ambiance Cons: Food more

Great Place!!! 3/31/2005

We went to Mallorca's for our office lunch. It was WONDEFUL!!!! The food was excellence. The ambiance was very nice. The prices were good and the foor was FABULOUS!!! I had Chilean Sea Bass which is my favorite and it was perfect. I would higly recommend this restaurant. Only thing I didn't like was the fact some waiters reached over you to grab plates from others. This is a small inconvenience compared to the rest of the service which was impecable. Please go and enjoy!!! Pros: Good Food, Good Service, Nice Atmosphere more

Yuck! 2/3/2005

We lived in Spain for a year, and this is not spanish food (the descriptions were for spanish dishes, but the food was nothing like it)!! It tasted like they added thickeners to all the sauces, even to olive oil. The waiters were very nice, the dining room was romantic, and the wine selection was extensive, but the food was some of the worst I have ever tasted! more

Mallorca 12/11/2004

This restuarant in downtown Cleveland can't be beat for Great food, great service and great value. First the service, very attentive without being annoying, quick without making you feel rushed, and everyone was friendly to boot. The food was awesome or as some I've heard say ""to die for"". The seafood is outstanding and the more exotic items on the menu are even better. I had the ""ostrich"" and was ""thrilled"" by my meal. The desserts are wonderful too, if you have room. Which brings us to value. At first looking at the prices I was ready to be dissappointed. ""No way"" the portions are tremendous and being complimented with the service and food make Mallorca A#1. My opinion is that ""Mallorca"" is the premier dining establishment in the Cleveland Metro area. Pros: Food, Service, Portions more

THe Best Restaurant in Cleveland 9/7/2004

The best in Cleveland bar-none! I've been there about 5 tiems. Each meal I've had or those I was with was WONDERFUL. The service is kind and attentive. Great wines. The owner is wonderful!! This place is romantic, charming and a perfect place for fine dining. Pros: food, service, wines more

Nothing Special 7/18/2004

We were set to enjoy Blue Point when our concierge convinced us to go to Mallorca because it was ""just as good, but cheaper."" Well it was fine, but nothing special. Our cocky young waiter did not know how to pour wine or remove a lobster from a tail. Bus boys continuously leaned across us to get our empty plates. As for romantic, didn't see it. The tables were line up in rows in a plainly appointed, well lit room. The food was pretty good, but nothing special. The wine list was big, but unimaginative and nothing special. Mallorca may be cheaper than Blue Point, but it's nothing special. Pros: food, quick service, after dinner liquor Cons: , not romantic more

Fabulous Food And Service 9/3/2003

We were visiting from Pittsburgh for the weekend and was looking for something different. The staff at the Marriot Hotel highly recommended that we go to the Mallorca. They promised that we wouldn't be disappointed and boy were they right. We asked for smoking and even though they didn't accompany our request we were still very satisfied. The service was inpecible and the food was fabulous. We haven't stop talking about how great this place was and how we can't wait to visit again. They told us that the one in Pittsburgh wasn't as good but we're going to try it anyways. Good idea to make reservations ahead but if you're not in a hurry it's Worth the wait. Pros: excellent service, great food, worth every penny more

The perfect start to a great night 3/30/2003

Simply the finest anywhere I have been a regular at Mallorca for three years. Dinning there about 3 days per week, I simply can not get enough. Often times I will sit at the bar with friends, enjoy some of the finest cocktails you will ever find while lavished with delicately prepared and lavishly presented food! The atmosphere compliments an already exquisite experience. When you dine at Mallorca you are with friends. I suggest during your next visit you and your significant other order my favorite dish, it is off the menu and simply elegant. You will start with an appetizer of Garlic shrimp and stuffed scallops, for the entree you will have a full cut filet, medium and a 32oz. lobster tail. When you finish your meal, enjoy an after dinner martini (the finest I have ever had anywhere) you will come back to this site and thank me! Pros: Superior service, best cocktails, addictive food Cons: No outdoor patio, small bar area more

Best Restaurant in town 1/30/2003

Mallorca is great! NOt only are they worth every penny, but their service is outstanding. They put Ken Stewart's to shame, not only in food but especially in service! Pros: great parking, great food-worth it!, excellent service more

Wow! What a place! 1/18/2003

We had a very memorable, very delicious meal. The service was professional, courteous, and pleasant. The food was VERY plentiful and delicious. We ordered the garlic shrimp appetizer, the lobster tails with crabmeat stuffing and paella. All very good. I was very pleasantly surprised when the waitstaff sang ""Happy Birthday"" to me in Spanish. My ""birthday"" cake was delicious and different, too. We will definitely be back; in fact, we can't wait to go again to Mallorca!! more

best place i ever ate 1/17/2003

This is the only restaurant in Cleveland that servces Fresh seafood. The portions are also very large and delicious. The service is Perfect. The prices are very reasonable more

Latino perfection 11/27/2002

The food, dine & wine were all fantastic! Wonderful Latin food & staff. Pros: service, food, ambience Cons: parking more

Huge portions of fabulous food! 10/2/2002

I have dined at Mallorca on several occassions. The portions are huge! I would suggest that for two people you order a single entree and you will still have plenty left over. The servers are mostly efficient. The salads are supreme! Pros: portions, upscale Cons: parking is difficult more

THE BEST OF CLEVELAND 9/3/2002

I took my girlfriend there because of the good feedback on msn about this place! Better than ever imagined! The service was by far the best I've ever had! The food was GREAT. We started with garlic shrimp and for 10 bucks it is almost a meal in itself! There must have been 20-25 shrimp. The 24 ounce lobster tail stuffed with shrimp and crab was awesome and I'm not even a big seafood person. All meals are served with bread, salad, spanish rice, spanish potatoes, and steamed vegetables! ALOT OF FOOD! Every one gets a shot of an almong spanish liquor at the end of your meal! Plus the place is as romantic as it gets! I loved it so much we went back 2 nights later were I proposed to my girlfriend! Get to Mallorca! Pros: Great food, Great prices, HUGE MENU Cons: non more
