I took my 11 year-old daughter here to have a dress altered for a talent show. Sue told my daughter that she would be a lot prettier if she lost a few pounds. She then proceeded to tell her that she better not gain any more weight before the talent show, and that she wasn't allowed to have desserts or soda any more. My daughter was devastated. I don't except some people's excuse that this is just ""how Sue is"". It is never acceptable to be rude, mean, or demeaning, especially to a child. This is called bullying and no one should write it off simply as a character flaw. We will not be returning to this shop. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/6/2013

Sue is a miracle worker! I brought my wedding dress in to her today and when I tried it on, found out the manufacturer tagged wrong and was a size smaller than what I ordered. The store I bought it from would do nothing and my wedding is 2 moths away. Needless to say I was in tears. Sue told me not to worry, she could fix it. She told me to go get a new bra and come back. When I arrived back about an hour later, she had altered my dress enough that it now fit. Remind you that it was about 3 inches from zipping before she did we magic. It fit perfectly! I was in shock! She has done all of my dresses through out my life so it was a no brainer hat I would have her do my wedding dress. Now even more than before I am so thankful for sue and Main Street alterations! Without them I would be our searching for a new wedding dress! more

I can see where people may think Sue is rude but in all honesty it is just who she is. If you at least talk to her and dont think she is below you she is actually funny. We stood there and talked a few minutes and she was joking around with me. I was there all of 15 minutes to get a pair of pants hemmed. She measured them for me and even went ahead and hemmed them while I was there. I have never been to a place that will do it same day! I will be going back again and will tell other people about her as well! more

Love Sue!! 2/2/2012

I have been to Sue numerous times and love the work she does! She is honest and gets alterations done quickly. Her prices are much better than large department stores and the quality of her work far surpasses others. David's Bridal tried to charge me 65 dollars for a bridesmaids dress alteration that was simple, and also said it would be pushing time only having four months to finish it. Sue charged me 40 dollars and will have it finished in a week! I highly suggest taking your business to her! more

Rude, Rude, Rude - Never go there! 11/17/2011

This place will never get my business again. We took my daughter's wedding dress to be altered and she kept making snide comments about how my daughter looked in the dress. This was suppose to be a happy time in her life and this woman almost made her cry. The only reason I didn't say anthing was my daughter asked me not to since we needed it done quickly. Trust me there are better places to go for alterations that are actually nice and the people act like they want your business. If she's been doing this since 1978 she sure hasn't learned much about how to treat her customers better. more

LISTEN TO MY WORDS PEOPLE 8/20/2011

This lady is awesome. She comes off as rude and abrupt, but I don't think she knows any better. After you talk to her a bit, she's FREAKING hilarious! I had my bridesmaid's dress hemmed there and it was pretty fantastic. Honestly though, don't be easily insulted, she really isn't trying to insult you, her english is just a little off. She's been doing this since 1978, so she definately knows what she is doing! Go here! more

I will never go here again! 5/26/2011

I am an 83 year-old disabled lady and was pleased to see a disabled parking spot in front of the store. But - there were at least 4 or 5 difficult steps to be negotiated before getting into the store. That said, I would never go back anyway. This was the rudest, most impolite proprietor I have ever tried to deal with. Granted - I had a difficult jacket that one person tried to fix and could not. Since I really love the jacket I thought I would try Main Street. But this person wouldn't even open it up to look at it. She scoffed at it and said she wouldn't touch it.. I most certainly will never go back to this place that treated me impolitely and unkindly. more

Horrible customer service. Go somewhere else. more

Excellent!! 5/4/2011

I took my wedding dress in for alterations today. I had read some bad reviews about the customer service here, but the reviews all stated that the work was good so I figured what the heck. Sue was friendly and patient. She is a honest and upfront person. The only reason I imagine someone writing a bad review is if they wanted someone to lie to them! Sue explained everything that she would be doing, and made sure I was in agreement. She worked fast and obviously knew what she was doing. I learned during our conversation that she has been in this business since 1978. I feel completely confident leaving my wedding dress with someone who has over 30 years experience. more

Alterations Great, Attitude Horrible 3/28/2011

The owner is very old school. She is abrupt and rude. Her work is great but her attitude horrible. I took two pair of pants in and they were in a target bag because I was in a hurry. When I picked up my altered pants she gave me a sarcastic grin and handed my pants to me crumbled up and tied in the bag. I didn't know I was being rude by bringing them in a bag. The attitude is so bossy and out of line. Like I said, they do good work. I just feel sorry for those who have to deal with such negativity, especially her family...can you imagine. I tried to be tolerant but don't go there anymore. more

Bad customer service. The worst I've seen in a LONG time! 3/23/2011

I called and asked for a quote on a pair of pants. I was given a $5-$10 quote. Awesome. I took the pants in, they told me $25. Ok, fine, but they rudely laughed at me (like I was crazy) when I told them what I had been quoted. They were very rude. They told me the pants were being priced as a dress. I told them I was not willing to pay $25 for the alteration, seeing how I only paid $24 for the pants in the first place! As I walked out I said I would take it to another place, and the 2 women got snippy with me saying that I would not be able to get it done for any less than that and last (and worst of all) the woman yelled ""GOOD LUCK"" very rudely at me when I was walking out. It was very petty and childish. Very surprising for small business owners. Wow! Can't believe that they can keep their business open when treating their potential customers like this! Not only did they lose my money today, but forever. And the old saying is true, I will tell anybody and everybody NEVER to go there. There are other alteration companies that may be the same price, but at least they are willing to treat their customers with respect. And I WILL go pay $25 for the alteration, but never at Main Street Alterations. I need to be treated like a human if you want my business. Thank you. (PS. I also wouldn't have given the ONE star, that's too high. but I must give one for the review to post....) more

Great Work! 2/3/2010

I called and asked if I could bring my daughter in for an alteration of her jeans. The lady said ""come in"". so we were there and out the door in 10 min. I was amazed at how fast she marked my daughters jeans for alteration. This lady know's her stuff. I asked if we could get them the same day and she said that we would have to get them the next morning. It all worked out fine. My daughter just had to wait until the next day to wear her new jeans. Her jeans fit great and they looked like they came off of the assembly line like that. The thread was exactly the same color as the original... It was all good! Pros: know's her stuff Cons: cant be done while you wait more

Will NEVER ever go back 6/9/2009

I tried giving this place ZERO stars, but it wouldn't let me publish my review so I had to give it one star. Long story short... from the moment we stepped into Main Street Alterations the owner (head seamstress) didn't stop yelling at us (I was taking a friend that needed her wedding dress altered). A wedding is supposed to be a happy occasion, especially when you're trying on your wedding dress, but the owner was making it everything but special. We tried asking reasonable questions about the dress and the alterations and the owner kept cutting us off saying ""Shut up! I'm the professional! You don't ask questions! I do my job and then I tell you what needs to be done!"" This is very uncalled for, especially when you're paying someone to do a job... you DO NOT treat clients like the way she treated us. We made the BAD decision of leaving the dress there because of time constraints (the alterations were needed urgent). My friend went back the next day for a formal fitting and the only thing different from the previous day was that this time the owner had my dear friend in tears!!! By then we had had enough and made the decision of going back to get the dress and finding a new seamstress or a new dress. The only good thing was that the dress was too small and by the time my friend went back for the formal fitting, the owner had been able to alter the dress so that it fit my friend (this was in less than 24 hours). This, however, is not a good enough reason for me to go back to her. Customer service was horrible (except for the owner's assistant who was polite); the owner was always in a foul mood; Didn't make us feel welcome AT ALL and no one should ever have to put up with this. I wouldn't recommend this seamstress to anyone. Pros: Location Cons: Owners really bad attitude more

They're the best! 3/23/2008

They do great work at Main Street Alterations. They have very reasonable prices, can work under tight deadlines, are friendly, and do excellent work. I've never been anything but completely satified with my garments. Use them! more
