Tasteless and horrible food 11/19/2011

This place is horrible. I should have read the reviews before going there. This place is horrible and food is tasteless. We went to weekend buffet and not eve a single dish was edible. I will never go there agon. more

Terrible Service 10/15/2011

The service at the Madras Pavillion in Sugar Land is just plain old horrible. The lady at the register who I think is the owner's wife had a real big attitude when i asked her a question. I went there twice and both times i had to wait about one hour after i had ordered until i finally got my food. Also, the furniture is old and filthy which makes you not want to sit in the chairs. I doubt that i will ever go there again and i would never recommend this restaurant to a friend! more

Wow! The BEST Indian Food I've had compared to NYC's best 5/6/2011

I am from Sugar Land, TX and have been living in NYC for the past 5 years eating at New Yorks finest Indian restaurants. I didn't think Madra Pavillion in Sugar Land, TX had a chance to please my palate. I was blown away with how fresh the food tasted and how nicely presented the food was. The environment of the restaurant was very relaxing with an outside seating area overlooking the water reservoir for beautiful sunny days. I loved how the restaurant was flushed with windows with lush greenery to be viewed rather a highway or concrete parking lot. The design is traditional Indian and I heard that they have hosted cooking classes for groups that want to learn how to cook Indian food and showing how the clay ovens are used. Thank you Madra Pavillion for such a lovely experience! more

Keeps getting worse 5/12/2009

I live near here so have visited Madras a few times, and each time I wished I had just drove to India's instead. A few weeks ago was the last time I visited about 11:30 am, and the place looked dead. Since we were early, I expected a fresh buffet, but instead, everything looked overcooked, and tasted bland. I hear the other Madras is good, but the one in Sugar Land...not so much. Cons: bland food more

Good food but dirty (and unhygienic) furniture 10/26/2008

Madras Pavillion in SugarLand serves good food but probably we will stop going there to eat as furntiture (esp. sofas/chairs) etc are very dirty & old. I never understand why the management can't fix it. \r \r I love the food there but my kids don't want to go there because of dirty funiture and hence unhygienic conditions in the restaurant at Sugar Land location. I guess reatsuarnt owners need to understand that people come to restaurants to enjoy food as well as ambience or in other words for overall good experience & food. Pros: Good Food Cons: unhygienic & dirty furniture. Not recommended for kids. more

Worst Indian Food in Town 6/5/2008

I strongly suggest against going to Madras Pavilion. The food is horrible. There was not even a single item on the buffet that was fresh and tasty.\r \r If you are looking for stale food and bad service go for it... otherwise there are much better places around town. Pros: Convenient Location Cons: Everything more

Outside is great....inside it is LAZY SERVICE 1/29/2008

Terrible Terrible Terrible Service 7/8/2004

Outside of the building is gorgious but inside is another story. Very plain interior and most people were talking vey loud. No one asked us what we would liked to drink...got our water after 15 minutes..no thank you or have a nice day...when we were coming out and passing by the counter, the person there (probably the owner) quickly turned around so there was no possible eye contact. Pros: Good food Cons: , Un-welcom atmosphere more

Terrible Service, great food. 11/15/2003

Saturday at 5:30 pm we arrived. No one greeted us at the door. None of the tables were prepared. Several tables had dirty plates left from lunch. We were the only customers when we arrived. The waitress pointed us to a booth and piled cutlery, napkins and glasses in the center of the table for us to sort out. No music was playing. It took 15 minutes to get a drink order and another 10 for our food order. The food that came was EXCELLENT, but the poor service continued. My rice didn't come until the end of the meal. No one checked on us. We waited 15 minutes after we finishing for our table to be cleared. AND THERE WAS ONLY ONE OTHER CUSTOMER IN THE RESTAURANT BY THEN!!! We complained and asked for the manager. The waiter shrugged and said no one was in. We left no tip. Pros: Excellent food Cons: Terrible Service, Disorganized, Dirty tables abound more
