parking 6/20/2012

MOSI needs to make it clear when you enter that parking is done by machine and you need correct change or you will pay through the nose for parking. You do not get change. If a tourist puts in a $20.00 bill he will get tokens for his $16.00 change. Not good PR. Locals might be able to use it again but also may have no reason to return any time soon. Too easy to misplace tokens. I didn't appreciate paying $5.00 for parking...especially since the last time I went there it was free. more

Go anywhere else, not to MOSI 7/29/2010

As the biggest museum arounf the south you would hope for something special. Not only is MOSI not special, its poorly designed exhibits, its lack of cleanliness and its lackluster staff just put the nail in the coffin of my ever going back. The second floor disasterville is just boring, badly rendered graphics, a hurricane room with a big fan in it, oh wow exciting, not. And a planetarium show that is a movie and 10 minutes of stars, huh? and the presenters were kids who seemed to know very little about the sky, script readers at best. What is the upper management of this place doing except pulling down big paychecks, they certainly don't care what is happening on the floor of the place. This is another reason Florida gets a bad rap and in this case we deserve it. Keep your money!! more

Consistent mediocre experience for ages 10 and up 7/6/2010

Outdated exhibits that demonstrate scientific concepts poorly. The exhibits are either old or created cheaply. The cafe food is hit or miss. Science demonstrations are similar to those on You Tube. Astronaut experience is actually a poorly ventilated windowless room with 3 or 4 bouncies. No certified or degreed astronomer for the planetarium shows. more

MOSI and its greatness 5/8/2006

I have got to say that this place is just amazing. I am not exactly a child anymore, but I spent half a day on the second floor playing with all the fun things they had. I also really loved the bodies exhibit and would tell anyone to go see it. It is just incredible, and a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to see exactly what the insides of you look. You can see the blood stream and muscles, and it is just amazing to no end. If you have a few hours, please please please go see it. more

Interesting Learning 3/23/2006

MOSI is really a great asset to the Tampa Bay Area. This is a great place to take kids or adults for everyone to have a great time. The exhibits are always educational and fun . MOSI also tries to keep thing fresh with new exhibits on tour. Besides just touring the complex they also offer IMAX movies and summer camps for kids. They also offer discounts if you are a friend of MOSI. more

MOSI ROCKS! 3/23/2006

MOSI rates right up there with the museums we used to go to in DC (like, uh...the Smithsonian?). OK, so it's not that big, but the quality is what matters, and MOSI is all quality. The recent 'Bodies' exhibit is not only on the cutting edge of excellenece, but controversy as well. Gives a whole new meaning to "I see dead people". Superior. more

great exhibits 11/23/2005

This place is very educational for all ages. They have a new exhibit that is contriversal because it is dead bodies. but it teaches alot and is a very good learning tool. I also like the hurricane room where it shows you what it is like to be in hurricane force winds up to 74 mph. they have a kids play area with play houses. and much more to offer everyone. They also have a great Birthday party program where you can make different things depending on the theme. We went to a dinosar party where we made a dinosar tooth. This is a neat place to take the family. more

Fantastic science experience 10/30/2005

I think MOSI (The museum of science and industry) is smart for creating that new dead body exhibit. They are a science museum, and that is a great science learning experience. MOSI changes their exhibits fairly frequently, so whether it's dinosaurs or space, they always have something interesting. The IMAX dome is cool, but because it is not a traditional IMAX screen (normally they are just larger square screens) it can makes you a bit dizzy. Prices have certainly gone up over the years but are still reasonable. Expect to see a lot of kids running around as the museum often attracts elementary classes and field trips. more

Fun filled days! 10/4/2005

This museum has a lot to offer. We visited the Bodies exhibit and it was very enlightening and educational. The displays were spectacular and the staff was readily available for questions. The museum offers different activities including Imax movie shows. The prices were decent and they do offer a military discount. more

Play (and Learn) in the Great Indoors 8/23/2005

MOSI has finally listened to the cries of parents in the area (and elsewhere!), and has opened a totally hands-on attraction that appeals to kids of all ages. The interactive exhibits are compelling, even if the child can't quite comprehend the scientific principle at work. A highlight is the Publix-sponsored food section, which features a pretend farm, a mini grocery store, a kid-sized kitchen.,a diner counter/stools, and of course, loads of fake food. Even the littlest scientists will enjoy the crawlers' area, a cordoned-off, well-padded baby sanctuary filled with foam pillows, shaker wands, and loads of other sensory delights. Plan at least two hours for the KIC room, and then go enjoy a reasonably-priced lunch in the on-site café (what a treat to find veggie spring rolls on the menu!). more

Was good until they put dead people. 8/20/2005

If you read Tampa bay local newspapers recently you will see a lot of dead people on the news. Mosi`s great idea is to attract people by putting dead bodies on display. I really don’t want to pay more than before just to see dead people hanging from the ceiling. I already live next to the cemetery for free. Hate passing by the cemetery at night so no way I will go to MOSI in the future. Please, have some respect for the dead cause we all will be dead someday in the future. more

Museum Of Science & Industry 8/17/2005

One of the most fascinating museums I have ever been to, although not on the same level as say, the Smithsonian, its just as good in its own way. The IMAX Dome theater is a must see, its simply amazing to see a movie on such scale and with such clarity. There are many discounts available at virtually any time of the year, so it shouldn't be hard to get in for well below standard fare. more

I love this museum 8/14/2005

This is a great place to take the kids. My kids enjoyed every aspect of this, from the drive there to the actual exhibits. Its decently priced, and fairly clean. I would reccomend this museum to everyone, whether you have children or not. In fact, i will be taking my neices and nephews there as birthday presents from now on! more

Mosey around MOSI 8/11/2005

Mosey around MOSI MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry) is a wonderful museum designed for the entire family. Featuring hundreds of hands-on exhibits, it's sure to keep all ages entertained. Brave the raging winds of the Hurricane, where the 74 mile per hour winds will have you holding onto your seat! This and many more exhibits await you, including a butterfly exhibit! Don't forget to check out the IMAX theater, where you can see some amazing movies, larger than life! Let your inner explorer out, and visit MOSI today! more

New exhibits save MOSI 8/6/2005

First, I am spoiled when it comes to science museums. I grew up in St Louis where there is a very large, mostly free science center. MOSi does well. The new kid friendly center is very cool. There are many hands on exhibits in an open space. The walls are even lined with family restrooms. The main section of MOSI was a little disappointing. There were not very many hands on exhibits that worked. Many were just plaques to read and many were broken. Even so, my family spent 4 hours there and had to drag my daughter away from the kids section. I did not see many employees except at the ticket counter and a couple that were doing presentations. Additional staff may be the key to keeping the exhibits functional. more

Different 8/5/2005

Tampa's Museum Of Science and Industry is different. We visited a few years ago and it reminded me a lot of similar museums in San Francisco and Philadelphia: lots of hands on experiments and demonstrations for kids, and things from which well-educated adults can even learn a thing or two. I drive by most days and frequently see school buses outside so I'd assume that may be a slight downside, but all in all it was worth the money and we're really looking forward to the Bodies Exhibition later this month. more

Lots of fun 8/5/2005

My niece and I went to this museum and had a blast. She is very much into knowing how things work and why. They had many different exhibits for her to explore. They also have an IMAX movie theater which show some great movies. Would recommend. One of the coolest exhibits is the hurricane room. You can sit in a room that blows air at hurricane force speed. Very cool more

Great for the younger kids 8/5/2005

Most of MOSI's displays would entertain the younger kids more than the teenagers. The one complaint I have is that many of their displays are often broken and/or closed leaving some room for improvement. The facility was expanded and includes a dome IMAX theater which plays movies throughout the day. I would highly recommend watching one of the 30 to 40 minute movies (usually educational and documentary). The seating in the theater is reclined to allow for the best view of the movie. Sit towards the center of the theater for the best seats. more

Education and fun place for the kids!! 7/28/2005

This place is awesome! You learn so much without even knowing it!! My kids love it and beg to go back! They have awesome different interactive displays! Like a lightning display, and hurricane... Just soo much! Very highly recomended! you and the kids will love it!! more

Same Old 7/28/2005

I guess science museums are all the same. This one wasn't that spectacular other than the Hurricane room which was ok. It seems there's only so much science out there and every science museum pretty much has the same stuff. That and I might have only been to 2 museums but that shouldn't matter. more
