Editorial review from Citysearch 8/31/2013

Stay Away! Our builder installed their wood casement windows in our home in 1995. They started failing before the short 5 year warranty expired. We have many large windows and couldn't afford to replace them until now. The installer from our new window company says we have one of the worst cases of wood rot he's seen, and we've had repairs done within the last 5 years. Many of our neighbors have the same windows and the same problem. more

I can't honestly recommend anyone to buy from MLC 6/8/2011

I ordered 5 windows and a french door from Michael (the owner's grandson) July 2010 . He promised deliver in 4-6 weeks. MLC did not deliver my order until after Thanksgiving. During that time Michael refused to return my phone calls. I had to visit their factory to get any update on the delivery status. When the order arrived, the French door was the wrong swing and damaged. They took the door back to the factory and repaired the problem, but the door arrived all scratched up from riding in the back of a pickup truck laying down. The windows I ordered have the mini-blinds built in between the glass (nice option) One window blind mechanism failed on the first cycle and I'm still waiting for repairs to be done. The control tracks came loose on every window. The mill work on the windows is very poor, filled with plastic wood filler, the screens don't fit well. MLC is very poor about returning phone calls (until you contact the owner) and very unprofessional when it comes to dealing directly with the public. Overall, I have had a horrible experience with this company. If I had unlimited funds, I would rip out every one of these windows and replace them with a quality product. I try very hard to spend my money with Michigan companies and keep our local economy going, however, in this major purchase, I advise you to spend your money elsewhere. more

Windows are okay...have to take care of 9/24/2010

With any window, maintenance must be done. Wood, vinyl, aluminum...doesn't matter. This is especially true of builder grade windows. Plus, customer service has always been very helpful and friendly to me in addressing any concerns with the windows. more

Wish I'd done it sooner! 3/25/2010

We replaced all of our aluminum, single pane, sliding windows in our 1967 ranch style house. We chose MLC Windows for their appearance, price and value, after shopping big box stores, and 3 other replacement companies, MLC was the best, hands down. Replacing our windows was the single best improvement we've made to our home. The windows operate smoothly, fit perfectly and do a wonderful job of keeping out noise, drafts and heat transfer. Pros: Wish I'd done it sooner! Cons: - more

$5000 cheaper than the rest 12/10/2009

My parents replaced every window in their home a few years back, and I helped them search out the best deals on windows. We ended up choosing MLC.\r \r One major thing that MLC Windows had above all the other window suppliers was that they were about $5000 cheaper than the rest. Yes, that's right: five-thousand dollars cheaper! That's a substantial savings. \r \r But one thing that we didn't want to sacrifice was quality. It'd be pointless to replace the windows only to have them not last very long. MLC puts out quality work; they look exactly the same as they did the day they were installed, and all parts function perfectly. I've used windows from other companies of similar design, and those windows tend to stop shutting all the way after being used for a couple years, and so those windows can't be locked. My parents use their windows constantly and have never had this problem.\r \r As far as energy savings go, these also had a substantial effect on heating and cooling costs. The heating bill dropped by about 1/4! Over the long run, that ends up being a few thousand dollars every winter. Though insulation is just as important, if you had to make the choice between that and windows, I'd chose to get new windows because of issues with functionality - you can't open insulation!\r Pros: Quality Windows more

Class Action Law Suit against MLC 12/1/2009

I want to start a class action law suit. I had windows installed in 2000 and today I am reading about all of the negative comments for the first time. We have thousands of dollars in water dammage that is from the first floor to the walkout below. The wall has rotted over the years and we are just realizing now that there is a crack in the origional frame. Please email me if you are interested in getting together to sue or bring to the ""fox 2 hall of shame"". ( perry4msu@comcast. net) Pros: NONE!!!! Cons: Read below and every other low start rating. more

dont buy 6/30/2009

STAY WAY STAY FAR WAY!!!!!!!! don't buy these windows... They are horrible.. Not only will they get huge air leaks in them but they leak water when it rains. We have so much water damage to our brand new house and they are taking us in a circle. Our whole subdivison (thats 56 houses) has these windows and we all are having huge problems.. Mike, who is a manager, is a j**k and just treats you ( the customer) like s**t and richard just doesn't know what to do with himself.. Bill Lochirco the owner is the BIGGEST j**k of them all and im not the only one who feels like this... SO at all cost please avoid this company!!!!!! Cons: poor window, poor customer service more

Leaking Windows! 1/30/2008

We purchased a home built by a builder as a model home in 10/07. The windows are MLC and have been leaking since we bought the home. They have been out 6 times to ""repair"" the windows and have not accomplished anything yet. We have sill damage and drywall damage. The slider window tracks fill with water and spill over onto the sill. The builder is closely involved with this window company and they are both protecting each other from having to pay money to replace these windows with a better quality. The builder is Tuscany Development and we have more issues than just leaking windows. We would not recommend MLC windows ever! You get what you pay for. Cons: Leaking Windows, Poor customer service. more
