We booked a Saturday afternoon banquet for our son's Communion party for about 45 people. We were quoted a per person price and were running a seperate tab for the bar. I called a few days prior to see if I needed to make any food choices and to give my count. I was told in a very condescending manner, "" you already made your choice it was family style"". Ok, so I figured everything was under control. I have had many banquets at other establishments and there are have always choices. The day of-everything seemed fine until the soup arrived, which looked very much like a cream chicken soup- which is what I expected. It turned out to be clam chowder. No one realized until after eating a good portion of the cup what it was. We then had a family member in tears because she is allergic to shellfish. Fortunately, she was ok. I asked the waitress, why clam chowder? I did not choose this. She said it's whatever the chef makes that day. I say it's more like what was left over from Friday! She went on the say that my family member should have alerted the restaurant of her allergy. Why would she for a family style lunch? It was then time to pay the bill. There was a per person total, a bar total and a seperate total for soft drinks cokes, etc. totaling 108.00 My husband (who rarely would complain about a charge on a bill) was very taken back by this. Unfortunately, we had people to thank and say good bye to so, we paid it and cleared out. This was eating at me so I called a few days later and was told thats just how they do things. She said it's stated on their menu, I never received a menu. Everything was on me, why didn't I ask, etc. I don't feel this is a common practice it should have been mentioned. I could not understand why we could not have even been offered pitchers for the kids or something. Moreover, I feel this should have been included in with the per person price. I have never heard of such a thing. I was told that they are a restaurant not a banquet facility. Funny, I booked a banquet. After about a 15 minute conversation, where I was told how completely wrong I was, I realized that I was getting nowhere. Clearly, these people do not have a very high value for their customers. I will nor will any of our friends or family consider having a banquet or patronizing this ""restaurant"" again. I would have been happy had they split the charges or even took some responsibility for the soup incident. All of the fault was thrown our way. It may not have been all that much money to her but it was to us - in fact, I was told how $108.00 was not going to make or break her. Are you sure? Learn how to treat your customers a little better they are the reason you are able to open your doors everyday. There are too many other great places in the neighborhood.
