It's hard for me to believe all the recent negative reviews for this place, after experiencing Louis 106 recently and being impressed with all that they had to offer. When my fat...

I went here last night, enticed by the Austin Restaurant Week Menu offering a three course meal for $35. This was a Wednesday night so we didn't expect it to be hugely busy, so wh...

this place was really disappointing-- 7/15/2005

i have been eating here for years, but wont again. the last time i went for lunch, the waitress was inconsiderate and forgot our orders. when mine came, it was inedible-the past a had been sitting under heat lamps for too long, and my friend's fish was sitting in a pool of oil. we were each given the wrong wines, and had to repeat our orders. i have always gotten EXCELLENT service from the tall, dark-haired waiter who knows a lot about wine, but , other than him, my experiences have been uneven. the hostesses also tend to want to see parties of two in very uncomfortable areas near a lot of traffic. Pros: good moules, good valet parking Cons: bad service, greasy food, uneven service more

We love this place for lunch 5/30/2005

The menu is terrific - we haven't had a bad meal yet - and the specials are fabulous and very well priced. Service has been really good, even when we've eaten upstairs. They will also validate for parking in the lot across the street. Pros: food, ambience, parking more

WORST SERVICE IN AUSTIN!!! 5/20/2005

Louis 106 should not call themselves a fine dining restaurants. The absolutely horrible service at this restaurant completely ruined what should have been a joyous occasion for me and my family. I came to Louis for my graduation from UT with a large group of people. We were made to wait a long time for our table (even though we had reservations) and after being seated, we saw no waiter at our table for about 15 minutes. When I asked to speak to the manager, the owner of the restaurant was provided. He was the rudest, most unaccomodating man I have ever met. I work in the restaurant industry and his treatment of me was disgusting - He made me cry at my own graduation dinner! He never even came up to our table to see how we were doing after we complained to him! Fine dining?-I don't think so!! Pros: Good parking, Ambiance Cons: Service, Management, Expensive more

Top Notch Dining 5/7/2005

My friend and I wanted a nice upscale place to take our dates and this place ending up being perfect. I read great reviews on their food but mixed on their service. From our experience, this place is top notch on service. We dressed up and every bit of the night was as elegant, if not more, than we expected. The waitress (Megan) was super friendly and accomodating. My date was allergic to shell fish and she went out of her way to help her order something that would not bother her. The wine list was incredible and the specials were delicious. I recommend making early reservations and asking for a table in the back. We had our own booth and it turned out to be a most elegant romantic evening. I highly recommend this place for fine dining for a special occasion. Pros: Great Atmosphere, Superb Food, Splendid Service Cons: Busy more

Great atmosphere, food, okay service 11/16/2004

I have heard of this place and finally made it over last weekend. I was very impressed with the environment and set up, as the place seems to take you away. It was very busy this Saturday night and they look like they can handle big groups. The Sea Bass was magnificent, the Ahi Tuna was pretty good - but not the best I've ever had- and the squash soup was awesome (if you like spicy). Only downer was the service. Our waitress seemed stressed out, brought out the wrong salads, and it took longer than usual to get our main course. Appetizers were quick, but way too long for the main course but the sea bass made up for it. Also has big downstairs room to accomodate big parties. I will definitely go back to Louie's 106 and highly recommend this restaurant! Pros: Great atmosphere, Sea Bass, Squash Soup Cons: , Long wait 4 dinner more

Waste of Time 2/21/2003

I have eaten here twice and both times were miserable. While the food is quite good, the service is ridiculously bad. Servers are unapologetic about the shoddy service and act as if they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. Pros: good food, reasonable prices Cons: slow service, rude service, lack of parking more

An Unpleasant Experience 2/20/2003

The food was good at Louie's 106 but the service was awful. First of all, the host ignored us and waited on the men who came behind us. I felt like they looked down their noses at my boyfriend and me even though we were nicely dressed and had a reservation. The waitress was huffy when we asked for a table not up against another couple. The paella was delicious but the service was terrible. I would not recomenend eating here - there are plenty of places in Austin with better food and service for the price. more

crab cake!! 2/13/2003

This place was not that crowded and we were seated promptly (and it was a Friday night, too). If the food were to recieve a grad, it would be an A+! The appetizers were excellent, especially the crab cake (best crab cake I have ever enjoyed). Go there now! Pros: divine food, prompt seating Cons: sparse parking more

So not worth it!! 12/4/2002

I went to Louie's 106 a couple of weeks ago and hated it!!! The food was bland......and the chicken sausage tapas tasted funny. But what really ruined it for me was the service!!! Our waitress was the most snobbish person I have ever met.......she hardly ever smiled, and answered most of our questions with monosyllables. I had gone there mainly coz of the citysearch reviews.....and I was very disappointed!!! Would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. more

Wedding Night 8/26/2002

My husband and I were starving after our wedding. We love Louie's, so it was only perfect to have a late night dinner there. Our hotel was just around the corner and it was far enough from the large crowds of sixth street to be relaxing. more
