Worst

I'm surprised that it is still open for business. The NY steak sandwich is too dry. I actually sent it back but they said it was the meat not the over-cooking to make it cardboard...

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way home to Sacramento after a day playing in the snow. It was totally unplanned -- Ikeda's a few doors down was closed. \r \r It turned into a completely romantic dinner sitting right in front of the fire and the fact that we were wearing jeans and sweaters didn't seem to bother anyone. My boyfriend declared the sausage and Portabello mushroom pizza we shared one of the best he'd ever eaten and we ordered an apple pie and creme brule. They could have carmelized the top a little longer, but it was pretty fantastic. My BF's apple pie was delicious! \r \r We had a wonderful time. The wait staff could be a little more welcoming for that extra touch, but they were nice enough. We plan on going back to sit by the fire again, next time to try a full out dinner. more

This place has been around awhile and every time I eat there I have a great time. After a wonderful meal of steak and scampi we stayed and sang in the bar. We had a fun night. I will always make Lou La bonte's my stop on my way to Reno the food cannot be beaten and the people are all so very friendly Thanks Lou more

We had an appetizer, fried calamari and shrimp with butter, basil cream sauce. For dinner we had Prime Rib, with salad and blue cheese dressing, and Fettucine Alfredo with shrimp. For dessert we had flan. All cooked perfectly. Restaurant has a full bar, and a very nice, and clean atmosphere. They also serve dishes, like pizza that will appeal to the kids. A big plus is they're within walking distance to the hotel (next door). more

Lou`s was here before I-80 replaced old highway 40 that leads to Lake Tahoe and beyond. The prime rib, steaks and ribs are the best! Bar snacks are awesome like Blue cheese fries, chicken wings and ribs. It`s easy to get on and off the freeway. I`ll be back! more

Prime rib was the special for the night and it certainly was perfectly done. The asparagas was wrapped with bacon and cooked with onions and was very tasty. Great food, we go there whenever we're in the Auburn area. more

We are here in Auburn on a tour of gold country - the restaurant next door to our motel was mobbed so we walked to the next restaurant down the street and were delighted with the delicious meal we had at Lou La Bonte's. The prime rib special - smaller portion 8 oz - was more than enough and the horse radish sauce was really perfect. Great veggies, salad and garlic mashed potatoes. Ater four days on the road this place really hit the spot. Cost much less than meals in Sacramento Old Town and the flavor and quality was far better. Staff were personable and professional and made our evening a delight. more

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. My husband and I ate here on a Thursday night, The waitress and the buser were excellent. They were very curtious and came to the table several times to make sure we had all that we needed. The steak was cooked to perfection. The food is fresh and delish. The restaurant is clean with a cozy atmosphere. more

NEWS FLASH******* Karaoke is alive and doing well in Auburn. I was visiting a friend in the area and they mentioned karaoke in Auburn. Why not I said. The DJ was an older guy who was really into his music and his job. I thought his sound system was good considering the fact that I sounded pretty good. Trust me... I don't usually sound that good. The crowd was mixed. The bar was hooping. Drinks were reasonable. A few folks even got up to dance. I'd go back there next time I am in the area. more

I am a fan! Stopped by after a round at Black Oak. Sat in the bar and enjoyed the photos of the history of Lou's. Ordered the world famous pancakes . They ere good. That being said, the hash browns were perfect. more

My husband I and ate here a few days ago. we where celebrating and wanted to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. We had the ribs, the where delish. The service was great. Everyone there made sure we where well taken care of. I would definitely eat there again. Well worth checking it out. Thanks more

Lou Labonte's was a big surprise to me. I thought being and old place I would be disappointed. WOW it was great. We had the prime rib and it melted in our mouths. My husband talked me into starting with fresh steamers and it was one of his better ideals. The waitress was so friendly she truly went out of her way on a busy night to make sure we were in need of nothing. I will tell all my friends of this great place. 2 thumbs up more

Me and my mom went in and ate just the other week. The service was great and so was the food. I had the buffalo wings and they were amazing! I'd go back there any day and eat again. It's well worth checking into for a first time costumer. I recommend going there, you won't regret it. more

I am a returning customer's love this place the staff are very friendly. The place is \r very clean and has a cozy atmosphere. I stopped in on a Saturday night the waitress was very friendly and came back a few times to make sure we were ok. I had the Jumbo Shrimp Scampi it was deli-sh. I will definitely keep coming back. A most when in the Auburn area. more

My husband and I have been customer's for many years and love everything about Lou La Bonte's Restaurant. The Atmosphere makes you feel like being home with family. The Waitress was there before you even had to call. Everyone was friendly, but the food was the best ever. If you're ever near Auburn area, do yourself a favor and visit the best Restaurant in N. Ca. more

specialty burgers are excellent! Atmosphere is secondary. Like the others, I think the 1 star reviewers were expecting something completely different. Good homemade comfort food, Good hometown feel, and the returning elderely clientelle speaks for itself. Great pitstop to reno/tahoe. more
