Worst

I'm surprised that it is still open for business. The NY steak sandwich is too dry. I actually sent it back but they said it was the meat not the over-cooking to make it cardboard...

Ahhh... same old story. Can't hold a tune? Sing out of key? Too drunk to read the teleprompter? I've got your solution...whistle karaoke. No need to mess with sloppy words, or embarrass yourself when you sound like Bobby Brady singing ""time to change"". Just whistle it. Blowing tunes into the mic sounds really freaking good loud. If you find yourself on I-80 on your way back from a wedding, stop at Lou La Bonte's (Foresthill exit) for Saturday night karaoke. It is especially fun when you surprise the small town establishment by bringing the entire wedding with you. Don't worry, there is a Best Western next door when La Bonte's serves it's last Budweiser and kicks you off stage. They may stop serving food at 10, but thank God there is 24 hour Jack in the Box with a walk through window near by. It is even better when the bride orders off the dollar menu in her $8000 gown. So maybe Lou La Bonte's isn't worth 5 stars, but the Foresthill exit area sure IS!\r In any case if you can manage to whistle karaoke your favorite song without laughing, it's worth the pit stop to prove it to 40 close friends and family. more

The mushrooms omelet was freaking amazing. They used real baby bellas instead of the standard white mushrooms. I was deep in a mushroomy heaven. more

Roy is the Karoake Host and so friendly. He also has an amazing voice! \r \r He lended his harmonies to several singers, adding immensely to the pleasure of the performances. \r \r The mood is friendly and welcoming. The bartenders pour generously and the pricing is very reasonable. \r \r Great place to stop en route to or from Tahoe. \r \r We were too late to try the food, but really, it was the karaoke that drew us in. We were up in Auburn for a Christmas caroling weekend, and tried it Friday, then promised ourselves we'd return the following night because it was so much fun. \r \r Roy's book of songs was nicely organized. It's not extensive, but it's quite thorough with a lot of favorites. \r \r Be sure to tip Roy and Debbie, the very sweet bartender (who also happens to have a beautiful voice!). \r \r There is a big warm fireplace, perfect for driving the chill away on those cold mountain nights. more

Great Meal 6/10/2011

I had a wonderful meal here. We started with deep fried avocado, who would have thought it was great. I got brave and had something called airline chicken with polenta. I was one very happy person .The sauce was wonderful. All said and done the waitress offered us cheese cake and it to was the best. I would return in a heart beat more

Lou La Bonte's Restaurant is a keeper. 8/5/2009

We often eat here. Their prime rib special is good and very reasonable in price. They serve a good breakfast, better than most. This is worth a try. The bar is usually packed with interesting people. more
