Best

Stephiane L. I am so suprised I have been eating at Lou La Bontes 20 some odd years it is the BEST I truly have never had a bad dish or service thats why I keep going back its alw...

Worst

I'm surprised that it is still open for business. The NY steak sandwich is too dry. I actually sent it back but they said it was the meat not the over-cooking to make it cardboard...

Great food, consistant. Wonderful bar. Stop and eat dinner whenever I'm working in the area. Two motels, one on either side. Like the Quality Inn the best. Nice to have a good dinner and a couple of drinks with a reasonable price tag and be able to walk back to my room. If your a carnivore try the daily prime rib. A big thumbs up. more

The food is Italian with American choices as well. I had the best mushroom ravioli and the hubby had a perfect prime rib, he said it was delicious. He also had a homemade dessert that was also very good. If I drove through Auburn again I would make a point of returning to the restaurant. more

The hotel clerk referred us to this restaurant for dinner. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar for some drinks and grub. We made it just in time for 1/2 price happy hour appetizers and ordered the deep fried artichoke and the nachos. Nachos weren't my favorite, but loved the artichokes and the spicy aioli. We split the prime rib for dinner, and it was tender, juicy, and delicious!\r \r The man next to us ordered the roast garlic appetizer, which I instantly regretted not ordering. It came with 3 whole roasted garlic cloves, toasted garlic bread, chutney and cheese. It smelled and looked amazing, and judging by his response, it probably tasted as good as it looked.\r \r It's a nice local joint. We had a nice chat with the bartender, and also the locals (who were very friendly). We were beyond satisfied with our experience here and will return when we are in the area. more

One of the oldest restaurants in the area with ambiance and great food. It is conveniently located just off of I-80 if one is headed toward Tahoe or Reno and a great place to stop if you enjoy karaoke or a dinner show on a Friday night! My family and I have been enjoying this place for at least ten years or more and find it to be one of the most comfortable bars around. more

What a pleasant meal. Lou La Bonte's is located along a frontage road of I-80 in Auburn, California. It's a cool roadside tavern and dining room. It looks like it's been there 50 years. It has brilliantly lit neon signs beckoning diners to stop in. The place is a near perfect museum of a fine dining out from the 1950's. The place is crazy cat cool and the bar was hopping on a Friday night late roadside dinner.\r I was in a random mood and asked the waitress to give me her favorite entree that didn't have seafood. She recommended the Wild Mushroom Ravioli in Marsala Cream Sauce with chicken. It was amazing. I also had the French Onion soup which was very good. I think I will try this place again when in Auburn. more

Came in with my daughter and best friend for his birthday. I was skeptical because the restaurant looked very old and outdated (it is almost 60 years old) but I was very surprised that the whole meal was so yummy, best food I have eaten in years, I even had bites off the others plates at the table. I will be back. I wish they had more revenue so the could give the place a face-lift, but in the mean time I will keep going back for the tasty food. more

We where celebrating and wanted to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. The ribs where great! They where very juicy and meaty. The service was Fantastic. Everyone there made sure we where well taken care of. I eat here often and will continue. No complaints here. Well worth checking it out. Thanks more

I LOVE the Monte Cristo. They cut it in half and grill all 5 sides then cover it with powered sugar. I try to make it a point to catch lunch there if I am in the area. more

Lou La Bonte's is an excellent place for a nice cool martini and a 8 oz cut of prime rib. The 8 oz. cut of prime rib (just the right size) is nicely priced for $14.95 and includes garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed vegtables, and, of course, creamed horseradish sauce. Just the thing for a hungry traveler who doesn't want anything fancy or exotic. more

Two big screens showing sports, big steaks, tasty food. There's even a crime role-play event every Friday night, which we didn't get to see, though. more

Was driving through the area early on a Saturday evening with my two young teenage nieces and remembered Lou Labonte's from many years ago when I lived in the area. the burgers we each had were incredible! The whiskey peppercorn sauce was addictive! The garlic mushroom burger was a hit, as well as the low carb for the niece watching her figure. Fries were also great, and the salad on the low carb plate was great. Overall, we were happy with our delicious burgers, and the girls enjoyed the somewhat retro atmosphere. We stayed and talked for a long time, but didn't feel rushed by the staff. It was a fun trip down memory lane, and I'm glad we stopped for dinner. more

I've only been to Lou La Bonte's for banquet gatherings/party's in their banquet room catered by them, I've never eaten in their dining room, but I certainly would. The Prime rib was amazing simply said, seasoned pefectly and cooked just right (I prefer an end cut myself). Their chicken was also done well, the wild mushroom ravioli was nice. I also loved the potatoes, steamed vegetables, and the mixed green salad was perfectly dressed even though I thought at first sight it was going to be a little heavy it wasn't at all.\r The food is the star here, and then environment is comfortable, the price is also right on the money. more

My first experience with Lou La Bonte's was for a mystery dinner theater. It was great fun for the interactive cast and patrons. What stood out was the quality of the food. This is not a theater that serves passable food. This is a quality restaurant that occasionally has fun things happening. The old standards of burgers, steaks, and prime rib maintain the Road House feel of the place. If driving Interstate 80 from the Bay area to Reno, look for Lou la Bonte's once you pass the north edge of Auburn. It is a great old road house perfect for a mid-journey stop. more
