Los Rosales Mexican Restaurant

Los Rosales is a fabulous Mexican restaurant that does not serve your average Mexican food. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, and the menu is unique and goes beyond what you might expect at a Mexican restaurant. Their ceviche is, no doubt, the best you will get in Nashville and the pricing is very reasonable. The Nopales salad with apple and raisins is a treat that you rarely see at other Mexican restaurants in town. Their carnitas are the best in town, and they are actually made correctly by stewing the meat and then lightly frying them so that they are crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Their chips are homemade rather than from a bag and are delicious! On top of all the great food, their services is fantastic. I was never out of water and they constantly made sure that we were happy with our food without being intrusive. I highly recommend that everybody visit this lovely restaurant! I visited a number of times when first opened and I was delighted to find such a fine Mexican restaurant. The servers were pleasant and helpful, the menu selections were unique...overall a classy establishment. The restaurant closed for a few months then reopened. I have visited twice since and I am VERY DISAPPOINTED! There seems to be only one waiter who is in all unfamiliar with the menu and generally unpleasant. Several of the special menu items no longer are served and when I attempted to enjoy a bottle of wine I brought in, I was told that they would not open the bottle. I offered to pay a corking fee and they refused without giving me an explanation when I asked for one. They have a full bar and were well equipped to accommodate, but refused. I live about 30 minutes or so away from Los Rosales, but it would be dangerous for me to live closer, because I would eat there A LOT. The service is wonderful, the staff VERY friendly. The food is freshly prepared and the presentation is beautiful. I am a vegetarian and the selection is great. I have had the stuffed avocado with pistachios one time and the stuffed peppers another time, and both meals were wonderful. I have tried the flamed mango for dessert - had some lighter fluid type taste to it, so I would recommend the Mango cheesecake instead... VERY YUMMY. I had a regular margarita and it was delicious... not too overpowering and it went well with the meal. Both times I have gone, they were not busy, which surprised me, since the quality of the food and service far surpasses any mexican restaurant I have been to here in the Nashville area. Los Rosales is full of authentic cuisine, fresh ingredients, vegetarian options, cool decor and so much more. I had lunch there with a friend this weekend when it opened up after remodeling. The food is to die for. You get more than just regular salsa here when you sit down at the table. You have a selection of fresh pico, refriend beans and traditional salsa with home made tortilla chips. I had the shrimp chimichanga with a side of rice. My friend has one of the new dishes (torte something) which was amazing. We topped it off with a slice of mango cheesecake. Oh my. The wait staff is very attentive. Our drinks were never empty, dishes were cleared away quickly and our server was ready to explain any question. The owner came in as we were leaving and stopped to speak with us. The prices are very reasonable and the decor is lovely. They also have a very well stocked bar. I really cannot give enough praise. You have to experience it for yourself. Enjoy!
