Best

The main draw to this place is the bar scene. especially on summer evenings. its a great place to start with a few beers (tecate $2) or one of the many margaritas. (skip the house...

We called on a tuesday night for saturday reservations and were told to call when we were on our way and a table would be ready for our party of 7. When we called on Saturday the...

Cold Beer, Hot Waitresses, Sweet Food 8/25/2005

The food was great, don't believe the bad reviews. Some of the other reviews look ""professionally,"" but I can tell you that my Halibut Enchiladas were fantastic. The beer was cold and their patio was relaxed. Try it, you'll like it! more

hopefully 3rd times a charm 5/5/2005

it was good but I didn't love it like some.....cute atmosphere... Pros: good tequila, guacamole Cons: parking more

Neuvo mexican/seafood on South Pearl 4/28/2005

A great find! Lots of tastes combine for a wonderful dining experience. Lots of seafood options - nice to see in a place like this. Brush up on your tequila-tasting skills, they've got more than you can count! A must-try! Pros: great bar area, lots of tequila, warm decor more

OVERRATED DITTO 2/12/2005

After weighing City Search pros and cons against glowing reviews in 5280, we went to Lola expecting to be pleasantly surprised. Instead, we had one of the worst meals ever in Denver. Everything was cold, WAY overdone/heavy-handed - just terrible. Tuna fajitas were inedible blobs of mealy (once frozen?), cold, rare tuna (and we can eat rare tuna when it's done right), paired with a ridiculous barbeque-like sauce that overpowered everything and dried out tortillas. Scallops and shrimp dish looked wonderful, turned out terrible - cold, soggy seafood on top of watery rice, withered potatos, and more cold sauce. ""Guacamole"" was really just fresh avacados - very little other flavors came through. Service was wonderful and apologetic but the food was just too bad to bring us back. Beyond redemption. Pros: great service, nice bartenders Cons: heavy handed, cold food, loud atmosphere more

great food 1/14/2005

my girlfriend and I went there about 2 months ago.....wow, really great food and great margaritas. we had the calamari for app and I had the pulled port enchiladas and my girlfriend had the salmon.....all was really great food and very interesting combination of flavors. we ended up sitting to the left of the bar as you walk in....that's the only thing I didn't like....it doesn't give you the feel you're eating at a great restarant. so.....wait the extra minutes for the main room. there's of coure more people and probably a bit louder but nevertheless I would have preferred sitting there. try it...you won't be dissapointed. more

sunday brunch is best in town 10/17/2004

Lola is now my favorite breakfast place as well as dinner. These guys know what they're doing! The food is amazing, the new patio is awesome, great energy and the bloody mary's rock. I had the lobster omelette but I'm going next week for the shrimp po boy. Too bad it's only on sunday! Pros: quality food, great service, fun more

NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED RESTAURANT 9/2/2004

Don't waste your time on the negative reviews of LOLA. These people should stick with Casa Bonita or Taco Bell. It is the most enjoyable culinary experience in Denver and most likely Colorado. The dishes are beautiful, tasteful, and wonderfully presented. The waitstaff is helpful, hip, and attentive. One should expect to wait for something so special as the experience at LOLA. Now that there is a patio, nothing can come close to a comparison. If one understands the complexity of flavors at all in Mexican cooking, they can appreciate what LOLA has to offer. If they do not want to wait for a great dining experience it is better for those of us that can appreciate tossing back a margarita or a couple of beers as we anticipate the incredible experience LOLA offers up every time. Don't miss Sunday brunch either. Congratulations to LOLA. more

You'll get hooked 3/21/2004

Lola has it all. Ambience, great food, new menus each season and very friendly staff. The food is innovative and delicious. I have tried numerous items and never been disappointed. The guacamole is a must have. Try Lola once and you will be hooked. Pros: Food, Staff, Ambience Cons: , Crowded more

couldn't be better 12/6/2003

had dinner at lola this weekend, it couldn't have been better. Best service in denver hands down! Friendly, gracious and knowledgeable staff and the food...what can I say? Can't wait to go back. The guacamole is the best I've ever had, the corn soup is to die for and the lobster tacos, outstanding! Can't pass those desserts by either. Thumbs up LOLA more

Best Ever! 9/19/2003

I love Lola! Excellent food (the salmon is amazing) & friendly, knowledgeable (sp?) staff. The tequila selection can be overwhelming, but the staff is more than happy to bring a few tasters and asks the right questions to narrow down personal preferences in tastes. I would expect to pay more for dinner and was pleasantly surprised to find entree prices at about $13-$19. Keep up the great work! more

Never again! 9/14/2003

We were told the wait was an hour and a half, even after calling ahead. Once we were seated we were rushed like they didn't want us there at all. We were asked to place our order as the kitchen is extremely small and they need to keep the orders going. We were then asked if we wanted anything else we should order it immediately because the kitchen was closing. As we were attempting to enjoy our dessert they were beginning to turn the lights off. Lola was definitely not worth the money we spent. We go to restaurants to relax and enjoy a night out...this was not relaxing or enjoyable. We wouldn't recommend it. Pros: Location Cons: Service, Expensive more

Fader know his stuff 9/13/2003

Another Query Winner! Chef Fader makes this costal Mexican seafood eatery an absolute must. With an informed staff, a well timed and well run kitchen, and a bar manager that knows every nuance of tequila. Chef Himan finishes off the menu with his own special dessertsthat are truly sublime. Definite hit with the guac, cerviche, lamb, and some great snapper that so fresh it jumps from the plate. Hopefully they'll be starting their tequila dinner tastings again soon. Pros: friendly staff, GREAT seafood, tequila selectio Cons: parking more

Disappointed 6/25/2003

Lets be brief: 1. Too loud, they need more sound absorbtion 1/2 the time I couldn't hear the person across the atble from me. 2. Average food, there was nothing wrong with the food but for the price I won't go back. 3. Out of ???, they were out of 3 different things we ordered, on a Wednesday night. 4. Excellent service, our waitress was attentive, polite, and very helpful. 5. Although they were out of quite a few of the selections they have some excellent tequila there. I will definately consider going back for happy hour and drinking, then go to another local restaurant to eat, Pearl Street Grill is right the street. Pros: Tequila Selection, Service Cons: Noise, Food Value, Out of Stock more

Lola rox! 5/7/2003

If I could rate Lola higher than a 10, I would in a heartbeat. The silk snapper is by far the best dish I've ever had! It just melts in your mouth, and that was my 2nd choice. I wanted the special ,which was some kind of salmon, coconut something. Practically everyone in the tiny spot was recomending it, but they were out. LOLA ROX!!! Pros: scrumptious, very fresh seafood, sexy Cons: parking not the best, kinda small more

A perfect blend of taste 4/18/2003

No reservations, but when you get there, the bar waiting area is very comfortable. Stylie, candles, nice small bar. The restaurant location and spot are a plus. The mexican fusion-something food is outstanding, creative, and delicous. A perfect blend of taste, you'll love it. Plenty of Mexican food in Denver, but this is the only one you can get dressed up for, impress someone, and not spend much on. Plus again, the food is great. more

Muy Bueno! 3/14/2003

We ate at LoLa for dinner tonight. The place was crowded but we called ahead and they put us on the waiting list and sat us immediately upon arrival. The tableside guacamole preperation is a treat. The entrees were excellent. We had the Chicken Carnitas, Tacos de Salmon, and the Carne Asada. All were very good. A nice change of pace. Pros: Good Food, Hip Crowd Cons: Parking, A Little Crowded more

Creative and Fun! 3/13/2003

The staff was extremely friendly (I had to wait at the bar because my friend was late) and the selection of cocktails was creative. Try one of their happy hour mini-martinis (Lolitas). I had the stew and it was delicious. My vegetarian friend ended up ordering a side vegetable for an entree but she was very pleased with her flavorful choice. more

One of the top Mexican spots in Denver 2/23/2003

Yes, the wait is very long to get seated, but at one of the top mexican restaurants in Denver, what can you expect - once you get seated, they make it up to you in spades. The food is incredible! Forget your traditional mexican fare - Lola's guacamole is made AT THE TABLE with 9 ingredients being tossed in with fresh avocado.... so good I've been craving it 3 weeks later. Ambience is very hip - you feel like a jet-setter. I'm eagerly waiting to go back! PS - if the wait is quite long, take a stroll over to the Village Cork down the street for a quiet, great little wine tasting spot. Pros: excellent food, Great Ambience Cons: Crowded, Long Wait more

WOW!!! 2/12/2003

Now I now why people have been talking about Lola. I was absolutely blown away by the drinks I had at the bar, and impressed by the tequila selection. Food was outstanding. Really impressed. It's obvious the staff cares, because the service was informed and attentive. Hidden gem outside downtown Denver. Must Go!!! Pros: Phenomenal Food, Tequila experts, World Class more

Overrated! 11/7/2002
