I have always loved Lola, but am so impressed with their party hosting! I had my 40th birthday party there and we booked BeLola (the room below Lola) and had about 50 people. They did a great job timing the appetizers, keeping everyone's glasses full, getting meals out to those who ordered them and just being all around awesome to work with. I'll going to do my 50th party there as well! Thanks Lola!! more

Great Monday Night Happy Hour! 11/29/2010

Went to Lola monday night and found out they had All Night Happy Hour. The drinks are amazing, cucumber lemonade and 5 dollar margaritas all go great with the food. We sat on the patio and loved it...but wished for bar height tables in order to enjoy the view of Denver. Overall this place is great, decor is amazing and you will love the food and atmosphere. Great for a date or to spend time with friends. more

Always a great time! 6/15/2009

cool location - the decor is wonderful - always great service and food. Chef's table is fantastic. Weekend brunch w/ bloody Mary's - yum. Pros: great food and atmosphere Cons: the wait more

Ummm! I like Brunch 3/12/2009

I have been to brunch a few times at Lola's and have always had a really good time. It is such a cool place and the view of Downtown is awesome. I think their brunch menu is really good and have nevery been disapointed with anything and they make great bloody mary's! There are always so many people which I can understand (cause its brunch and they have good food), but I wanted the restaurant to clear out for ME! Pros: Good Food Cons: super busy more

REALLY, $30 a plate 2/12/2009

""Getto menu"" straight from our waitress? We were told, first night of the new menu, well change it! You are not a truck stop (one of the appitizers advertises such). Service = Bad! Pros: Its food Cons: Horrible menu choices for a mexican restaurant more

Horrible food, bad service! 2/2/2009

I had one of the worse experiences at this restaurant. I had asked the server if a particular dish had a specific ingredient in it and he told me absolutely not. So I ordered it under the impression that my server would know the dish. Well when it came out from the kitchen the dish was covered in the ingredient that I had just specified that I did not want. I sent it back to the kitchen and another server (not even my own) notified me that it would be right back out. Well 20 minutes later after everyone at my table was done with their meal, notified the server that if my dish wasn't ready, I would be fine with not eating it. About 3 minutes later, I got my meal from the manager who didn't apologize for the delay but instead decided to tell me that I should be patient and wait for my new dish and next time i should notify my server about my preferences on the dish. When I explained to her that I did in deed ask the server before I even ordered the dish, she said nothing in response. The restaurant did not apologize or even offer to take off part of the meal. HORRIBLE SERVICE and definitely over priced! more

Just okay 12/16/2008

the one big downside of Lola is the limited menu. it's trendy and I don't always see that as a plus, but the food is okay, I don't know if its worth 30 bucks a plate or not though. Pros: Not bad food Cons: Religious decor, Prices, Limited selections more

Bolola bottoms out 12/14/2008

Belola is the BASEMENT venue of Lolas. Don't expect a private party to be private. The bathrooms for the entire establishment are in the basement. People come and go through the private space you rent (you never know when you're paying for your guests' drinks or a crasher's drinks). Food is low-quality and poorly presented; not what you eat upstairs. Overall -- a big disappointment! more

Never get tired of Lola 10/6/2008

I have been going to Lola since it was on Pearl St. Now that it has moved I still go out of my way to visit a couple times a month. The menu is always changing and I am rarely disapointed. As for the service, I am ususally at the bar and I love the staff. They all seem to get along great and connect with their customers well. As for the previous comment on bad service, that person must have some personal issues with a bartender because I always see smiles and close conversations with guests. The waitstaff is some of the best in town. Maybe that is why they are always busy. Pros: atmosphere, staff, interesting menu Cons: can get crowded really quick more

great place for food and drinks 9/16/2008

The main draw to this place is the bar scene. especially on summer evenings. its a great place to start with a few beers (tecate $2) or one of the many margaritas. (skip the house marg and pay the few xtra bucks for one of the specialties) and then move into the dining room for dinner. Pros: drinks and atmosphere Cons: service could use some work more

Fun people, nice staff, good drinks, bad food 9/6/2008

Two stars for the friendly and fun staff and the bar crew...like 5280 says, this is a great place for drinks. But if you're thinking of actually eating here, thing again. The starters are OK, but the rest of the menu is dog food. I'd rather eat mud. Pros: Bar, drinks, service Cons: Food, drink menu more

Not great food or service 8/28/2008

I have been to Lola's several times. My friends all love to go there for happy hour. The patio and the guacamole is really the only thing that I could recommend. I think the food is expensive and very mediocre, ordinary at best. Every time I have been there it's been very crowded so of course the servers are very busy, but still no excuse for snotty, bad service. I love the patio and the location and I really wish they would do something to improve this situation. Pros: Patio Cons: food, prices, service more

Best Restaurant in Denver....no contest 8/3/2008

Fantastic Atmosphere & decor Pros: Artsy fun without being pretentious Cons: none that I saw more

Very poor service, mediocre at best food!! 4/27/2008

At brunch, our service was terrible!! We asked numerous times for silverware, cream, etc. When the food arrived, we did not get steak knives, napkins, many items that we needed with our meal. We asked several people including our server to no avail. What up?? How can a server be walking by so frequently and not care period? Ridiculous!!! more

Great food 4/16/2008

The service was great and the food was excellent. I got Salmon with a sort of olive saute beneath. My wife got albondigas, I think from lamb. The ceviche was good and the dessert was good too, although strange- it used something that seemed like pop rocks. I have been to La Riviera Maya in Mexico, and this is the closest to that style of food I have found in Denver. Good coastal Mexican! more

Awful food 3/24/2008

I went to Lola's after a friend recommended it to me. I usually eat at Il Posto or Potoger so I figured a new place wouldn't hurt. Boy, was I wrong. I ordered the table side guacamole and although it looked great, the guy added about a tbsp of salt before I dug into it - ruining the whole dish. I then ordered the ""garlic"" shrimp, which wasn't garlicky and certainly lived up to its name - shrimp. The tiny shrimps were skewered and half cooked over the grill. The worst part was that the sides it came with - beans, rice, and a salad - were so awful, I had to order corn tortillas just to swallow it down (the beans were way too salty, the rice undercooked and without salt oddly enough, and the salad was obviously left in the cooler overnight pre-dressed and soggy). To add insult to injury, the waiter brought me FRIED tortillas - yes, that's right - the 2 little tortillas came drenched in hot grease. I asked him to please get me two heated tortillas. The manager came to the table at last where I was able to communicate how incredulous I was at this $20 dish passing for ""food"" - her response was strange - the chef didn't taste the beans today, and the tortillas come fried because they are so tough, they are difficult to heat and serve. Well, if your chef can't bother to taste the 2 main side dishes - staples of simple Mexican cuisine - before plating them, perhaps he or she should rethink what they do for a living. And the tortillas? Give me a break - if they are too tough to warm on the griddle and serve to a patron, then don't serve them at all - call Candy's and cancel the order. The only saving grace of the evening was the margarita - it washed the sin of that awful food right down the hatch. In a nutshell, the place is over-priced inedible food. You get better beans and rice at a Chipotle. Pros: Great waitress Cons: Awful food and the lighting is too dark to see it! more

Great food, fun atmosphere 2/3/2008

We dined there last night with friends who love to try new places. They had seen this one in 5280 and thought it sounded good. From reviews of others about the wait time, se decided to dine early. We called at 6pm (on a Saturday) and were told we needed to get there within 20 minutes because after that the computer deletes you name? We got there (10 -15 minutes later), approached the hostess desk and were sat immediately. Our waiter ? Ben was great. He walked us thru the margarita menu, patiently described all the food currently waiting in the open kitchen, and gave his suggestions on dinner. We went with the table side guac and were happy with the results. Chips were replenished in a timely manner! The menu was short but lots of delicious items to choose from. My husband went with the smoked pork and shrimp albondigas asada ? he was very pleased! I got a taste and thought it was very good as well. I and my friend?s husband went with the pan roasted cobia ? wow! Such different flavors and so moist! My friend went with the tequila glazed char and she really enjoyed that. For desert we chose the mud cake and a caraf of decaf French press coffee! Mmmmmm! We had a great time, really enjoyed the food and drinks and our waiter was great. more

great margaritas, great food, great service 1/2/2008

After reading many of the less than stellar reviews, I was pleasantly surprised. We expereinced great service. We ate dinner at the bar, the bartender was very knowledgable about both the tequila and the food. She was friendly and poured us three tequilas to taste before we decided what we wanted. The atmosphere was great, we ordered the avocado fondue, the tomato soup, the scallops, and the pork and shrimp albondigas (spicy!). Can't wait to go back! Pros: great margaritas more

nice ambiance, but the poor service has soured me. Waiting over 3 1/2 hours to NOT get a table is absurd. 11/14/2007

While I like the type and style of Lolas, I am very upset with the overall service. We waited for over 3 and a half hours for a table, checked every 15 to 20 minutes with the hostesses and still left without ever being seated. While they may have quite an exhaustive collection of tequilas, making a serviceable margarita should be the only goal. With the international feel they are striving for, I would have thought they'd know how to correctly make both mojitos and caipirinhas, but I was very disappointed. Pros: Ambiance Cons: restaurant service and inexperienced/unknowledgeable bar staff more

Interesting Menu 9/18/2007

Creative, interesting menu. Lots of authentic Mexican ingredients used in a ways not experienced before (at least in the northeast). Dinner began with a roasted orange seafood appetizer, which was a whole orange with the flesh scooped out bursting with shrimp, calamari, mussel, clams and jalapenos. Entrees were pork and shrimp which significant latent heat and too much salt. The pork was very smoky. All in all, it was a good dish. The other entree was corvina (sea bass) with enchiladas. Sitting outside on the deck with the downtown skylight view was delightful. The only disappoint were the margaritas. Pros: Interesting ingredients, good service, good view, nice decor Cons: maragritas, food a little too salty more
