Absolutely Horrible 5/15/2012

This club is a joke - about a year ago it completely went downhill. During the winter, no one is ever at the front desk - I came in at 6am once and no one there - all lights on but completely empty. Equipment is dusty - none of the remotes work, several of the treadmills are broken. During the summer they man the door like a hawk. They want to capture any guest visitation fee ($13) they can get. The lifeguards are a JOKE as well - all are young and immature high schoolers that could care less about watching the kids. We were members here from the beginning and had to cancel - simply unacceptable. more

Agree with Webb 5/11/2012

Regardless of security or abuse, the policy of not getting in without a card is simply ridiculous. The ownership should realize they are in the hospitality business and act accordingly. The fact is, your picture is on the computer screen they use to check you in. With your name, they should be able to look you up and, if the photo matches, I would think that pretty secure. They call themselves a club but, with such a policy, one feels more like a number than any sort of ""member."" There are myriad reasons one might not have their card on their person and, if you pay your dues and they can confirm your identity, they should let you in -- PERIOD! It's a private club and they can run how they like but they ran me off. I've been a member of many clubs and gyms in several states and I've never been to one with so many rules -- many of which are silly and inconvenient. It is certainly possible to run a safe and secure club without imposing all sorts of rules which add no safety or security. If you like rules and want a club run like a police state, this is the place for you. If you prefer to relax and be treated like a true ""member of a club"" with your leisure dollars, there are many better options out there. more

Clean but always too crowded 9/23/2011

The crowds at Lionsgate have pushed me back into my living room for workout options. \r It is evident that they have over-sold memberships. Our family have been members since its opening. This year, we only went to the pool four times. On three of the visits we had to sit on pavement, due to the crowding. You can't move in the pool without hitting another person. The snack bar was intermittently open. \r I work full-time, therefore attend the gym during peak hours. I stopped attending classes 7 months ago, due to the excessive crowding inside the room. Often mats touched each other in yoga class (awesome instructor, but unpleasant experience when you have to focus on your rear being in someone else's face). I have never been able to get into a Zumba class. The crowd was literally flowing out of the the doorway, into the gym on my last attempt. That was the last day I went. \r My husband still uses the gym, so we have kept the membership for his use. He works odd hours in his job, so he has the ability to attend on off-hours. \r If you were thinking of joining this gym and work a day full-time job, it may not be for you. more

Lionsgate is an average athletic club with nice equipment 8/28/2010

I have been a member of Lionsgate Athletic association for a little over 2 years- I also happen to live in Lionsgate. Like any other gym it gets busy a certain times and sometimes the people at the front desk aren't very friendly. However, that is pretty much how other gyms that I have belonged to are. Lionsgate does have nice equipment that is well maintained and they have very acceptable hours and have policies that they enforce that makes the gym safe and keeps it clean. In regards to the 37-week pregnant woman who was likely hormanal and by the way- what type of exercise were you doing at 37 weeks?-were you trying to induce labor? The inconvience of having a pass that was for each person (i.e. so that you couldn't switch cards with family members) was for security and to help limit the amount of young children and teenagers who liked to play on the equipment in the gym- some parents used the gym as a baby sitter, simply giving their cards to their children and letting them ""play"" at the gym. There was also a problem with people using other people's cards, so the measure was taken to make sure each person had their own card- very reasonable in my opinion. The sad fact is that ""Webb"" who wrote the review failed that signs were posted for +4 WEEKS prior to the people who didn't have their own card being denied access. So, obviously she didn't work out between weeks 33 - 37 or she didn't read the signs. Either way I felt I needed to post the truth about that situtation because I detest people who tell have truths. She obviously is one of those people that needs something to complain about and if it wasn't the pass I am sure she would have complained about something else. Don't let one negative comment about an establishment put you off, go and visit and decide for yourself. more

Poor customer service 7/22/2010

We (my husband and I) have been members for almost a year now. We will not be renewing our contract once our year is up. My husband and I are on the same account, but we have different log in cards. I drove his vehicle the other day so I had his card. Please keep in mind that I have done this before, once or twice, and I have never had a problem with the person at the desk allowing me to use the facility. There was a different person at the desk yesterday, and he would not let me in the facility. I told him that my husband and I were on the same account, and would it be possible for him to look it up on the computer. He either wouldn't do it or couldn't do it. Then he said I could pay him $5 to get another card. I don't see how this would fix the problem nor was I willing to give him $5 for something I didn't need. Then he said that a letter was sent out, we could have got our picture made together, etc. All things that we were never made aware of when we joined. Bottomline is, I am on the same account as my husband, and he should have let me in! Did I mention I was 37 weeks pregnant when this occurred??? Pros: fairly new equipment Cons: Rude, ignorant and mean service at front desk more
