Best storage facitlity in the Jersey City area. Not only is it the cleanest and best kept, the customer service is above and beyond. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I looked at other places before renting here, and they were horrible. They were dirty and the employees were not friendly or helpful. In my opinion if you need storage in the Jersey City area, this is the only place to go. more

WARNING: Do not believe the previouis poster. There is no way in my opinion that anyone could have a good experience with this place. This is the WORST storage place imaginable. I had my things stored there during Huricance Sandy. When I called after the storm to check on the status of my posessions, they told me there was minimal if any damage. Upon returning 2 months later to check on my stuff, I found the entire storage facility had been flooded. I had to throw away $20,000 of personal belongings. They provided no help and were extremely rude. They lied about the amount of damage that has occurred to the faciliy and to my things. When I removed my things from storage at the beginning of the month to close the account and throw away all of my things they still charged for the that full month despite the fact that I vacated the space on only the 5th day of the month. They were too busy filing their own personal claims for FEMA assistance to be bothered with helping their customers who has lost eveything. As I was covered in toxic mold and dirty sewer river water removing my things to throw them away, they couldn't even provide hand sanitzer, latex gloves nothing. They really deserve to go of business. I feel that they have NO ethics only greed, never use this storage facility. I paid over a $1,100 in fees over the course of the year to store my things and now I have nothing. more

We have been doing businesss with Liberty Self Storage for well over 10 years. We find the facility well managed and maintained and customer service to be excellent. You can see that the staff takes great pride in customer satisfaction while understanding personal needs that may arise. The ownership in many cases offers services free of charge and has been flexible with terms during this economic crisis we are in. My business has a level 1 unit with a racking system placed on both sides. Since the weather service, days in advance, warned us of how powerful this storm was going to be, combined with the Governors of New York and New Jersey ordering evacuations along coastal areas it was time to do an inventory check or as I like to say due diligence; reposition, cover or remove items that we deemed vulnerable at work, home and the storage unit.\r \r Yes, we also were not allowed into our unit until the power was restored and it was safe to enter, we cannot fault Liberty Self Storage for putting safety first, after all a human life is worth more than stuff!! In today's day and age no one wants to take ownership for what goes wrong and would like to point their finger at someone else, that is why the court system is backed up with frivolous lawsuits. No one could prepare for the type of devastation we experienced with this storm. Just ask the people on the Jersey Shore, Breezy Point, Hoboken or Staten island who are suffering more than losing a few personal possessions not important enough to take action when call for. In closing when I rented my unit I requested a level 1 unit being totally aware that you could see the Hudson River from the parking lot. That was the time, even though there was no history of flooding in this area that we had the foresight to think ahead.\r \r Thank you Liberty Self Storage for the long hours you put in during the storm's aftermath and thank you for the dumpsters you provided us during the clean up. You have my loyalty in an era where there is no loyalty during tough times.\r \r Yours Truly,\r EXOTIC AQUATICS\r PROUDLY SERVING THE COMMUNITY SINCE 1974 more

ignoring the warning\r I have been storing my belongings at liberty storage for ten years and have never had a problem. Easy access in and out. The facility is clean and dry at all times. The piped in music, well that's another story. Anyone, no matter what your background is, or where you come from, or what level of education, or degrees you have taped on your walls, or with only the smallest bit of intelligence and or common sense, would know that when you store your personal things in a storage facility you must keep everything off the floor at least 18'' (eighteen inches)....preventive care and maintenance of my property is of great concern to me. I installed coated steel shelving the first day I rented my ground floor unit. Mother Nature's ''SANDY'' came. Not a drop of water touched my belongings. We were warned how severe the storm would be many days in advance, which gave you plenty of time to realize that just in case water rose up to a level that might possibly damage your items in your storage unit now was the time to make adjustments and reposition your belongings to protect them. Those of you that were to lazy or did not heed the warning serious enough to prepare in advance for any type of water infiltration suffered the consequences. This was not the responsibility or neglect of the owner of Liberty Storage, only your own lack of thought and preparedness. \r AND...I, like so many other millions of home owners or apartment renters in this country pay to have ''off premises'' insurance protection which covers losses that occur outside of my home. If you did not have this type of insurance you have only yourself and Mother Nature to blame, not Liberty Storage. more

I agree with jordantbd 100%. My storage unit was on the first floor and everything was ruined by the flood. The water came up about 1 foot. The worst part is the owners would not let us in to see our units for almost 2 weeks after Sandy. By then, the water had travelled even further into my stuff and by the time I we were permitted to get our possessions, everything smelled strongly of mold. I spent the entire day last Saturday mopping up the excess water and tossing boxes of ruined possessions out. The owners insisted on charging me for the entire month, despite the fact that they shut us out for almost 2 weeks. No compensation at all, and they were downright RUDE when I asked if they would do anything to help compensate for our losses. I saw many people moving their stuff out of there, done with this crap place. I will follow suit as soon as I can. The owners' behavior was shameful throughout this ordeal and continues to be. They will pay the price when everyone goes elsewhere. more

The Best Arounbd! 5/30/2003

Liberty is the best storage facility I found in the area. Not only are the employees friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, but the facility is very clean and secure. And now that they have opened a second location, it is even more accessible! Believe me, I thouroughly searched Jersey City and the surrounding areas for an affordable, yet well-maintained self storage facility and this was the only one that I found to meet my high standards. Pros: Affordable, Secure more
