Amazing Bakery 10/4/2010

The bakery is truly amazing and worth eating at. The Malasadas are delicious. It's a nice, long walk from Waikiki, which I recommend. Don't hesitate to make this a stop on your trip. more

MUST DO when in Oahu 11/14/2009

I wish they had this on the mainland! Its not touristy or overrated. Its cheap and good! Only 70 cents. Malasada's is what they are known for; fried Portugese donuts w/o the holes. The original is my favorite but they also have different fillings for extra variety and flavor. Definitely a MUST-DO when in Oahu. more

Nothing Compares to Leonard's Quality and Prices 4/11/2009

Drive, walk, run, whatever you need to do to get to this place for donut lovers! Heck, you do not even have to be a fan of pastries to try their heavenly tasting malasadas. Krispy Kreme? Who are they? Leonard's can be spotted as you drive along Kapahulu--you can't miss their 1950's sign as you round the corner. Parking is very limited and people will park and try to double park just to eat at Leonard's. We even saw someone take a cab to this place with the meter running while they stood in line to buy a malasada. You can order these fresh, soft, mouth watering delectables with either their filling of the month (ie. mango creme, banana creme) or you can order their originals. Service is excellent and these freshly made pastries come out fast and hot. Pros: Malasadas Cons: Parking more

The best malasadas you can find anywhere... 12/26/2008

I have been consuming malasadas from Leonard's probably since I began eating table food. It helped that my Grandma's house in Kahala was a short drive away, and when we spent time with Grandma (which was often), she'd take us to Leonard's after dinner sometimes for fresh malasadas. The sweet bread is also delicious and the coffee cakes as well. Sunday breakfast at Grandma's was never complete without a cheese coffee cake from Leonard's. Most of my childhood birthday cakes came from Leonard's too. When I go home to Hawaii, a stop by Leonard's is a must. I love that the pink interior is the same as it was since I was in preschool! Visits to Leonard's always bring back fond memories. Pros: The malasadas and pretty much all of their baked goods. Cons: Nothing... more

Mouth Watering Malasada's! 11/12/2008

You absolutely cannot leave the island without trying one of Leonard's Malasada's. They are THE absolute best! It's like a doughnut sort of but better. It's hard to explain how delicious they are you just have to try them!! more

Yummy masaladas (portugese doughnuts) 12/28/2007

Worth the trip, about 2 miles from the Waikiki beach strip. Located in a local area--you don't see much tourists around here. The Masaladas are made very hot and very fresh. Stick with the original. =) Pros: Awesome Masaladas Cons: None, just go! more

Fabulous! 12/17/2006

I was taken to Leonard's by a friend who insisted I try malasadas nowhere else but here. I don't ever eat donuts, but I am so glad I made an exception for Leonard's! I loved it. Get your order, and park yourself on the bench or curb outside the bakery and enjoy your malasadas right away. They're sooo much tastier if you eat them immediately while they're piping hot! Pros: delicious hot malasadas Cons: no seating, but adds to the charm :) more

Ono Malassadas! 10/29/2006

Leonard's is just one of those places that every tourist to Hawaii must go to. Their malassadas just melt in your mouth. My friends and I always pick up a box before we go to the north shore to eat on the way. more

nice bakery 11/11/2005

My parents love Leonard's malasadas and they even bought me funny looking malasada plush wearting a striped chef's hat. Leonards has a wide array of baked goods in addition to their specialty, the malasada. You can choose from a variety of malasada fillings (cream, coconut, etc.) and coatings (cinnamon sugar, sugar). The bakery also has cute gift items, such as tee shirts with little malasada cartoons and the Leonards logo, as well as plushes such as mentioned above. more

Be a local 10/29/2005

My visit to Honolulu had scheduled a visit to Leonard's because of Citysearch. The ""off the beaten paths"" and ""local"" favorites found in your reviews were the best meals we had here. The front desk staff at the Radisson Waikkiki even recommended Leonard's. This place is a must if you have a sweet tooth. We tried a few different malassadas (custard, coconut, chocolate & cinnamon) and they were all delicious. We ate on a bench outside the bakery (only room for 6 or 7 people, so you may end up doing some juggling). I would say skip on the coffee...just blah. Pros: Delicious, Inexpensive, Tourist must see Cons: Small parking area, Coffee-skip it more

Malasadas 9/24/2005

This is a bakery that is basically on the side of most roads. However, what they are known for are malasadas which are basically a doughnut. Its a fried dough ball covered in sugar, but this place is really the best at making them. They taste awesome and come in different flavors all which are good. They also come creme filled if you would like and cinnamon on top. Most of the locals go for the original, but if you fell like mixing it up, thats find. Commonly when I'm there I'll see people ordering them by the dozen but they also sell singles. more

Review of Leonard's Bakery 9/4/2005

This place over the years has gain popularity due to their advertisements. The store is very close to Waikiki and they are known for their malasadas. It is basically a doughnut equivalent but it tastes very different. A lot of tourist companies take tourists to this place and everybody seems to like it. They make different variations of the malasadas. Some have a type of filling in it or you can just order the original malasada. Would definitely recommend it for a quick breakfast food or a snack. Enjoy! more

Yummy Malasadas! 8/5/2005

Fresh, hot malasadas! A must-go for any out-of-town visitor. The regular sugar and cinnamon ones are great, but so are the ones with filling (guava, coconut, etc). A very local feel, with t-shirts and stickers available for sale. There's also a van that parks in the mall in Kaneohe that sells malasadas as well. Prices are really good. Make sure to get more than you think you can eat, because they're quite addictive! more

Malasadas R Us 7/17/2005

If you haven't been to Leonards, you should correct this error. They are well known for their Portugese malasadas, which are comparable to a doughnut. They are beset when eaten fresh and hot, so when you go in ask to see if any will be freshly made soon. Worth the wait! more

Fantastic!!! 5/8/2005

A never-fail delight! The review on Food Network doesn't do it justice. Hot, sweet, fluffy - fantastic! A must-do stop in Honolulu. more

YUMMY 4/8/2004

Leonard's is by far the best malasada shop around!!! There are other shops, like Champion Malasadas, but they don't measure up to the quality of Leonard's. The actual doughnut is cooked all the way through!!! Pros: Service, Quality, Inexpensive more
