Rip Off Prices - Go to JC Penney 10/15/2009

They tell you you can order a new frame but I went there so that I can have glasses the same day. I did not know this about the frames until I had to have them fix the arm twice to separate times. They are impatient while you are shopping. I finally turned these glasses back to them for a complete refund with in my 30 days. BUT WAIT, I purchased two pair at once totalluy over $800.00. The clear pair of Dolcy & Gabanna's broke first and glad it was within my 30 days and they were not repairable. It was the arm also. Also, all five times I was there,(had to go back to pick up clear ones 8 business days later for the anti glare to be done at a cost of $69.00 when JC Penney charges $30.00), I signed in and ALWAYS got waited on AFTER other people behind me signed in. And, if you'll forgive me here, they were all caucasian - I am not. Take your money somewhere else. I went to JC Penney. They happen to have a sale going on at the time. I turned in both pairs of glassed to Lens Crafters. I purchased two pair at JC Penney for $285.00. Lens Crafters cost me over $800.00. DO NOT GO TO LENS CRAFTERS. They are a rip off. Cons: Rip Off, Impatient People, Racists more

Holding My Prescription Hostage 11/18/2008

I paid for a full examination and received my prescription on paper. They made a second appointment for me to get my contact lenses. The price they quoted me was outrageous. $200 +. So I canceled my appointment when I found a deal on-line for a fraction of the cost. I inputted my LensCrafters prescription info and it was approved. When I returned to reorder more contact lenses several months later (but within a year of examination), LensCrafters denied my prescription claiming that I hadn't finished the final exam. How many damn exams do you need? Clearly they are making it difficult for me to use another vendor. When I scheduled the second exam, they wanted to charge me $25 because I waited 6 months. I complained to corporate who finagled a free exam, but I had moved in the meantime and this location was 45 minutes away. I stopped in one day while passing by and they didn't have time for me. During all of this unpleasantness, this woman with a tight smile and a condescending tone at the location kept making me feel like I was panhandling for my contact lenses. As if I should feel lucky to be in your crappy store, with overpriced merchandise in a mall! THANKS! I reported them to the Better Biz B. They don't honor a prescription I have fully paid for with paper documentation. THIEVES! Pros: helps you appreciate on-line shopping Cons: value, nasty staff, don't honor prescriptions paid for within the year more

Ask for Loretta 8/31/2007

Out of all the Lens Crafters I have gone to get my glasses adjusted or serviced, I keep coming back to this one. Why? LORETTA (Asian lady, very friendly and knowledgeable). She doesn't just eyeball your glasses but actually uses a machine ""in back"" to find where in your lens the prescription ""centers,"" makes little temporary red marks on your glasses, and adjusts to your pupils. Also, as an Asian without a nose bridge, I have a hard time keeping my glasses up, and instead of the conventional wisdom of tightening the temples, she tightened the part that goes on the ears, making the fit much more snug (and comfortable), the way I like it. Also, she gave me straight up advice about where and when to go to buy my next glasses. I have a very strong prescription, and I'm also on a fixed income, so rather than buying my next pair at Lens Crafters, she suggested I try Costco, since with my prescription, they would need to be special-ordered anyway. And if I'm going to have to wait a week or two to get them back, I might as well not pay the Lens Crafters markup. She also took the time to suggest frame shapes that would better suit my face. I will keep coming back to this LC for all my eyeglasses needs, even if I buy my next pair elsewhere, because you can't beat their customer service. And for ""the powers that be"" at LC, don't worry, I'll still spend money at LC even if I do follow Loretta's advice, since I like the selection of unisex, men's, and prescription sunglasses at LC as well (but that just reflects my taste in frames). LC higher-ups, you need to do anything in your power to keep this woman on your staff because she brings in much of your repeat business. While waiting for service, my fellow customers and I have actually praised her specifically, citing her excellent service as the reason go there. As geeky as all this sounds, I swear it's absolutely true. Pros: Loretta, the customer service, her skill and knowledgeability more

Be prepared to wait 2/6/2007

You definately need to make an appointment. Expect to spend over an hour if your going for an eye exam (this doesn't include the time you take to pick out glasses). On the plus side the doctors and staff are very friendly and take the time to answer your questions. They are very thorough in checking out your vision and the health of your eyes. I just went for contacts, but they seem to have a good selection of glasses. more
