The BEST facial ever! I had the microdermabrasion facial. It's cost was $150 and worth every penny! Even though the spa gets the a little noise from the salon side, Iriina made the room so soothing and peaceful that I didn't even hear anything but the music . My skin looks and feels great. I've been here 3 times now and have always been satisfied. I am not a spa person - it makes me self-conscious to sit around in a robe, reading Lucky (a whole magazine about shopping?) having people cater to my needs and look deeply into my pollution-clogged pores. Friendly and effective! 6/13/2009

My friends have been telling me for ages to go here, and I?m so glad I finally did! The location is a welcoming little storefront in the Village, and I noticed there was a nice aroma when I walked in. Everyone was very friendly and seemed happy to be there, including the other clients, and I had a great facial with Natasha. I have been experiencing some acne problems recently, so Natasha took her time during the extractions for me, and suggested a great mask that gave me a deep clean feeling. I was very happy with how she tailored the facial to my needs. This is a place you can trust for a great facial - I highly recommend it. I decided to try one of their facials and cannot regret enough that I did, a waste of money to say the least. My esthetician was absent for at least half of my facial, which I later learned that she actually catered to another client while I was under the mask. Are you kidding me? I especially recommend the seaweed facials, and the organic peel, which truly lightened/brightened/changed the quality of my skin, leaving long-lasting improvements in elasticity and tone. (My family and friends were inquiring about whether I was using a new makeup, when in fact I was wearing none.) Recently, Lavinia launched a product line. The eye cream and the 2 face creams (which I've been using alternately--day/night--are absolutely fabulous. When I go elsewhere for skin care, I'm always disappointed. Everyone who's worked on me has been very professional/knowledgeable, with the exception of Erma/Irma; just be sure you don't get her as your esthetician, and I guarantee you'll be pleased with this place. Great experience, knowledgeable staff, and amazing skin care 4/1/2009

I went to Lavinia Borcau Skin Care two days ago for the first time, and had no idea what to expect. Upon leaving, not only did I feel relaxed, but I had a higher understanding of my skin and how the skin care products I had been using were actually more harmful than helpful, because of the synthetic products used. Great Experience! 3/31/2009

Yesterday I went to Lavinia Borcau Skin Care for the first time and it was a great experience! Lavinia and her staff were incredibly attentive and were so knowledgeable and passionate about their organic products and services. Lavinia let me sample a number of products including the day cream and the face mask from her new LaVie-Organique line. The products smelled incredible and worked amazingly well. I will definitely be going back to Lavinia Borcau Skin Care for all of my skin care needs! Pros: New organic skin care line Cons: None! more

I?m writing to share my wonderful experience at Lavinia Borcau Skincare. I was not exactly sure what to expect when I received a gift certificate for a ?spa manicure.? Well, from the moment I set foot in the place, I was treated like royalty! I was greeted immediately and made very comfortable (I was early but was soon getting my manicure.) The receptionist noticed I was looking at the skin care products in a wistful manner and gave me several samples to try before I made the purchase. And that was just the beginning. I started going to this salon years ago after seeing Lavinia's name on a Best of Boston list as the #1 brow waxer in town--and have been getting compliments on my eyebrows ever since. Over the years I've also had a variety of facial treatments, including microdermabrasion and organic peels. I have very sensitive skin, so I was little worried about irritation from these treatments, but there was no redness afterwards--only fresh, glowing skin. The atmosphere there is elegant and sophisticated but the staff is so friendly and unpretentious that you immediately feel at home. I've had services from Lavinia herself as well as Natasha and Irina--they are all experts at what they do. Best Brow/Bikini wax in Boston 1/10/2009

Until I became a walker I would always go to Elizabeth Grady to get waxed. Thankfully, I had to find a spot in Brookline to go to and took a friend's advice to request Erma at Lavinia's. Two years later I would not trust anyone else but Erma to sculpt my brows or remove hair from the painful bikini region. Surprisingly she makes both experiences easy, enjoyable and effortless. The end result is consistently fantastic and I truly enjoy our conversations. If you are looking for a new esthetician walk into Lavinia and ask when Erma is available. more

massage 9/30/2008

Had an amazing massage here last week. A friend had recommended lavinia's as a reputable salon so I called for a for a massage appointment. Jessica the massage therapist is terrific, the massage room was really comfortable with a heated table and a shower in the room. Half way through the massage Jessica applied some extra heat to my back and it was so relaxing. Everything about the experience was pleasurable. I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. more

My experience with Erma was awesome 9/19/2008

When you come to a salon after a whole stressful day at work, seeing a face that's genuinely smiling at you is a great start to a wonderful feeling of relaxation ahead. I don?t know what it is, but it seems Erma is always smiling! I came in all stressed out, partially, because I was late, but there was no sign of any negative emotion on her face. She quickly brought me into the room and explained the process. I wanted facial, and she recommended in addition an organic peel. Yes, it was an extra cost, but I agreed to it, as I am not ashamed to ask how much additionally I would need to pay, and she was not hiding that either. She also explained the difference between chemical peel and organic. Let me tell you, the peel was worth the money. She did facial and all the rest, and I loved how gentle her hands were touching my skin during the massage. Being 40+, I pay attention to what happens to my skin, and I resent any harsh treatment. So, I recommend Erma for her very cheerful spirit and very professional care. Loved it! more

Best Brazillian Bikini Wax in Town 7/25/2008

My experience at this salon is the best that I have experienced in a long long time. Not only was Erma the best that I have dealt with but she was very attentive to my needs. She does the best bikini wax. Not only that but she shape my eyebrows the best that I have ever had done in any other salon. I would definitely recommend that you stop by for all your spa needs and ask for Erma. more

Beware of Dishonest Business Practices 7/12/2008

On the basis of Yelp/Citysearch reviews, I scheduled a bikini wax with Erma - the wax itself was fine (not too painful, pretty thorough) but BEWARE OF DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICES. I scheduled a regular bikini wax and when I got into the room, Erma asked me if I wanted a Brazilian. I said no, just a regular wax and she said ""oh, a high bikini wax?"" and I said well, I want it somewhat high but not anything crazy (assuming, she was asking me how much I wanted taken off). When I went to pay, I was charged $45 vs. the $28 regular price because although not listed anywhere on the services sheet, a ""high bikini wax"" is a more expensive wax (although it wasn't any different than regular bikini waxes I've gotten elsewhere). I'm pretty positive Erma knew that I had no idea that she offering me a more expensive service...when I discussed with the person at the front desk, she was sympathetic but I still had to pay the $45. I won't be going back, but if you go, make sure they don't trick you into more expensive services. more

I have been going to Lavinia's for YEARS!!! I reccomend it to everyone, i can't remember walking out dissatisfied when i have gone for an appointment. Although I am a BIG fan of facials with Lavinia, I am a regular with the bazilians... I am comfortable with the process, the people and know that the facility and equipment is clean!! Although the spa is very busy and is constantly growing I have never been forgotten and always feel appreciated and welcomed as a client. more

Erma gives the best brazilian bikini wax, almost painless, very thorough and over so quickly - it cannot get any better for a less than desirable procedure! She also gives a great facial and eyebrow wax, I can actually leave the spa looking renewed not red and inflamed. I have gone to Irina also for eyebrows and was thrilled with the results. Zhanna's manicure and pedicure were great too (and I am terribly particular!) Overall, a fantastic spa to go to, the staff is super friendly,knowledgeable and professional and the salon is immaculately clean! Pros: located in Brookline village, no need to go to Boston more
