Worst

For anyone, going to the gyno can be stressful. Dr. Diakos has quite possibly the worst staff ever. Extremely rude, condescending, and inconsiderate. Pros: not really any ...

awful experience 3/23/2011

Could not agree more with the other reviewers--I had been going here for my annual exam and seen Dr. Barb Diakos. She was nice-very speedy (good if you're just in for the yearly, not good if you want a thorough exam). I continued to go there when I found out I was pregnant and had a terrible experience with Dr. Rose Diakos and the front office staff. I ended up having a miscarriage and was crushed but the doctor told me to get over it and that I was ""overreacting."" The receptionists are rude and I was told to ""stop complaining"" when they wouldn't put me through to the doctor in the middle of my miscarriage. Do not get your prenatal care here! They may have been nice people once but they are burnt out and uncaring. more

Look elsewhere 2/23/2011

I tried and gave them the benefit of the doubt, but if you are looking of a new OB/GYN go with another office. The staff is rude, it is sooooo very hard to get anyone on the phone, Dr. Tam was running 3 hours late for my appointment (I do realize emergencies do happen and you deliever babies for a living). When she did get there, there were 5 of us waiting in rooms for her, so she was very rushed and skipped over explaining some very important information reguarding my ultrasound. I also had issue with trying to even schedule an appointment because their office hours are horrible. I actually just transferred to a new office in the burbs and I know now how you are supposed to be treated in the office. I never recieved any information packet about cost of having a baby with them, things not to eat, or drugs that are okay to take. These may seem like little things, but when you are sick with a cold, you really would like to know that information! I would honestly go somewhere else if you are having a baby. more

WARNING! Look elsewhere for obstetrical care! 12/4/2010

My friend referred me to this office when I was single and simply required a gynecologist. For that purpose, the office was sufficient and I was happy with Dr. Barb Diakos. And yes, I agree with most reviewers that the front office staff is horrible. If you are searching for an OB/GYN, be wary of this office and its doctors for obstetrical needs. Like many other reviewers, I had a bad experience with this office and the doctors during my first pregnancy. They completely missed noticing that I had a massive fibroid which ultimately led to requiring a C-section after 28 hours of labor. In my final month of pregnancy, when I rotated through every doctor and mentioned to each that I couldn't feel the baby moving around, shouldn't they have seen a red flag? Also, the ultrasound techs always had problems finding the baby's heartbeat - shouldn't that have been a red flag as well? For the actual delivery, Dr. Tam finally showed up at the hospital 4 hours after she received the first call that I required an immediate C-section. Luckily, the end result was OK - I was fine, the baby was fine- but simply by luck she missed cutting into the orange-sized fibroid which could have had a catastrophic result. I did not return to this office for subsequent gyn/obstetrical care. more

Great Doctor(s), horrible office staff 11/28/2010

Dr. Tam is great- every time I have had an appointment with her, she has me in and out quickly. I feel that she knows what she is doing and makes sure you are healthy. She is really sweet and doesn't make me feel uncomfortable at all. Her office staff, however, is a totally different story. Every doctors office has poor office staff, but here, they reach a new level of low. To check in to my appointment one time specifically, I stood at the front desk for 5 minutes before either of them even looked at me (they were both sitting there the entire time). At my last appointment, I waited 20 minutes to reschedule an appointment and get a paper for blood work. Also, every time I call, it goes to voice mail and they never call me back. These women also are not friendly at all and are only concerned with eating lunch and facebook. If it weren't for my trust in Dr. Tam, I would go to a different OB/GYN because of the rude secretaries. more

WARNING!!! DO NOT GO HERE- ""DOCTOR"" EVIL!!! 6/17/2009

WARNING!!!! i used to see Dr. Diakos here. DO NOT go here or anywhere that this ""doctor"" ever practices. she is beyond neglectful. because of her neglect, i was in a most painful, life threatening situation. also due to her neglect and lack of concern, i ended up in er surgery. i am writing the medical licensing board due to her improper care. all attorneys that i have spoken to agree that this ""doctor"" was extremely negligent as well. not to mention, her receptionist is as rude (to put it nicely) as it gets! stay away if you need real and quality care. if you go to her, you better hope that you never truly need her help. i highly recommend Northwestern Womens Health Group- i trust the care of all of their doctors. they can be reached at 312.943.0282 Pros: NONE!!! Cons: LIFE THREATENING, UNCARING AND RUDE!!! more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dr. Tam 11/25/2008

I am a nurse at one of the hospitals in Chicago and I must say I just love Dr. Tam. She explained everything to me and my husband during my first prenatal visit and was throughout my prenatal care. She took her time explaining everything to my husband who is not in the medical field. She was always on time for my appointments but I do have the afternoon appointments and not the first appointment of the day. She was present the entire time I was in labor eventhough I don't think she had to be there but it made me feel better. I pushed for over 2 WHOLE hours and she was there the entire time. Several of my nursing friends said their OB's only appear at the last minute so I guess I got lucky. I would see Dr. Tam again for my next pregnancy and have been recommending her to all my nursing friends at the hospital. The front girls could use some work but I don't care, I'm there to see Dr. Tam anyway. Pros: Great OB doctor, short waiting time, feel comfortable with physician more

I love these doctors. 9/18/2008

I started going here in 2001 when I found out I was preg. I saw Tam, who was really good with me all the time. I then went on to have two more kids with the Diakos sisters, both of which I liked a lot. I never had rescheduling problems and I happen to think the staff is great too. Maybe I got lucky? All 3 times? I dunno. I will find out in a couple of weeks as I am ""with child"" for the fourth time. I also want to add that this is a great place to go if you have zero complications with your pregnancy. It is really quick. I was always in and out in less that 30 minutes. They are NOT specialists in any way. I wouldnt continue to go here if u had complications. I would recommend Lakeshore Womens Health to anyone. I hope my review helps even though it is the only positive one. (sorry for those of you that had bad experiences). Pros: Parking lot, Quick service, Amazing doctors Cons: They like to shuffle you at about 20 weeks. They put you on rotaion with the entire staff. I didnt want to see any onther Dr. at the time. Just the one I had picked to car for me through my pregnancy. more

Terrible Customer Service 6/3/2008

I was new to town and I went to this practice for my 3rd pregnancy and it was uneventful. Most of the visits were with one of the Diakos sisters. I stayed with the practice for my 4th pregnancy ( convenient, I was already an established patient) and it was the a terrible experience. I kept getting rescheduled by the front desk with Dr. Tam. I would show up to an appointment and be told that I need to reschedule. Dr. Tam was consistently 45 min - 1 hour late for all of my appts. which were generally her first of the day. She would arrive with a coffee in hand and no apology. I left 2 appts. after waiting 45 min and being told that the office staff hadn't heard from her. My husband called while I was in labor and she had no idea who I was although I had just seen her the day before. She was rude to him on the phone and then never made it to the delivery. We arrived at the hospital and they said that they were calling her repeatedly. She arrived after the baby was delivered by a resident and some nurses. I called the practice for my post part um visit and explained that I was uncomfortable to see Dr . Tam due to above circumstances and was told that it is the policy that I have to see her because she was scheduled to do the delivery ( no rationale). The best part is that my insurance received a bill from the hospital for her services. The worst quality of care and customer service I have ever experienced. Spend the time investigating your physician. You absolutely don't need to settle for this type of treatment. Pros: parking is validated Cons: inconsistent, rescheduling issues, lateness more

RUDE and AWFUL staff, average doctor 1/25/2007

For anyone, going to the gyno can be stressful. Dr. Diakos has quite possibly the worst staff ever. Extremely rude, condescending, and inconsiderate. Pros: not really any Cons: the receptionist, the office waiting room, the imcompetent nurses more

Good doctor but messed up assistant and nurses. 12/5/2006

My wife went there for the first time after getting pregnent, they made two mistakes on that day. more

Great Doctor, Bad help 10/25/2006

Dr. Barb Diakos is an amazing doctor. Always made me feel comfortable and always straight forward. However, the girls in the office seem more then incompetent. THis is the second time this week they called to change my appointment, and today just an hour after i made it. I also called for information on the new shot that is a vaccine for hpv/cervical cancer. Supposenly this girl was calling me back to let me know if they had saturday hours. After she already stated that they do offer the shot, she called back and said ""no."" hmmm... no what? no you don't have office hours on saturday. She said ""No, no we don't offer the shot. I suggest you call your pediatrician."" Im thinking pediatrician?? I'm 22 years old. and I have no kids. Why would I call a pediatrician. I told her this and she replied with, ""Well, i don't know. We don't offer the shot."" So I just figured whatever, your an idiot, I'll talk to the doctor when I get in for my appointment. Which, later on they called to cancel. So. I suggest you see the doctor, she really is amazing, but don't bother the girls at the desk. They are just ridiculously unhelpful, and will leave you hopelessly confused and annoyed. Pros: Parking lot across the street more
