Humo is a domestic short hair cat, about 10 years old. Last summer, when he rapidly lost weight, I took him to the first local veterinary I found?as we had recently moved and did not have a vet yet. The diagnosis was sad and sour. Not only was Humo suffering from an advanced case of diabetes, his teeth were crumbling down and he was FIV positive (meaning, he carries the feline version of AIDS virus.) The vet said Humo did not have much to live, anyway? and that to treat him properly for the diabetes, it would cost me about $ 300 a month. He recommended to put him to sleep.\r
