The hostess was rude from the start but the waiter was polite I suppose. The food was not very good at all, seemed to be very low quality. Made me sick to my stomach afterwards ...

Washington county's best Mexican Restaurant 12/14/2011

I love this place, the food is great, the cocktails and the service couldn't be better. Love Maya pork steak and the Shrimp Tacos. Best Mexican food in The City, no doubt about it! more

Great Food 12/11/2011

I've been a fan of this place for over ten years and have been meaning to add my two cents to these reviews. If you like Mexican made with fresh, healthy ingredients, you should definitely try La Fogata. I'm so tired of Mexican food made with greasy, heavy sauces that just coverup the taste of the actual food. Everything at La Fogata, from the grilled chicken and steak(that is actually grilled to order) to the homemade salsas is delicious. I've never been disappointed by the food or service there. And contrary to other reports, the people are great! I've met the owners and manager a few times and they couldn't be nicer guys. more

This was literally the BEST BURRITO I 11/28/2011

This was literally the BEST BURRITO I have EVER had,The food was very good and the service very attentive. I've driven by this place many times while heading to and from Hillsboro without ever giving much thought to stopping in. We finally hit it up today...we should've done it sooner! Gracias Amigos! more

Love it 6/18/2011

We've been going there for 17 years - 99% always a pleasant time and great food. Their staff is always friendly and accommodating, especially to kids. Sometimes crowded and can be slow, but more often than not just a great place to eat. more

La Fogata Mexican Restaurant 7/1/2010

OUR FAVE!!! This is the BEST MEXICAN FOOD to be found in Beaverton, possibly the Grtr Metro Area! [Those who have experienced long waits, etc. probably went on Cinco de Mayo, when the place was swamped! (We have never had any problems except that nite, & we completely understood--they had a waiting list 30-40 minutes long.)] They have wonderful options, especially ""Build Your Own Burrito""--huge (too much for one meal) & just the way you want it, coz you order everything that is in it & on top of it. We highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Mexican food. Pros: Food more

Our Favorite Mexican Restaurant for a while! 6/12/2010

Since me and my gf work in the restaurant bussiness, we like to try new restaurants all the time, its our passion. La Fogata has been our favorite spot for a while now. We love the interior. The good food and the attentive service make the whole experience in LF wonderful. They have the best Mexican food (we are hard to impress). We recommend this place either for bussiness meetings, a date or special occasions.Biggest outside seating in town. This restaurant is complete. Congruatulations to the Owners, you are doing a really good job. Try the Birria de Chivo and The Cielo Mar y Tierra with a BombRita a 16oz blended Margarita with a 4oz Coronita bottle INSIDE!!! REFRESHING!!! Pros: Regional menu more

Beaverton Best Mexican Food 5/26/2010

Eat here on a regular basis, at least once a week. I think the people working there are professional and the food is wonderfull. I think it is far better than any of it's local competition. Pros: Chef's Specials, Margaritas! Cons: only other reviewers who are too negative, in my opinion more

Terrible food and incompetent management 5/15/2010

Looks like nobody but family of the owners gets decent service at this dump. On the recommendation of family friends we came to this poor excuse for a restaurant. It took over an hour to get our food, when it arrived it was cold and overcooked. Our waitress was kind but she could do nothing to alleviate our complaints and when asked to speak with her manager, she informed us he had already gone home. Called back the next day to speak with the manager and inform him of our poor experience and he was completely dismissive of our complaints, told us we had nothing to talk about. Needless to say, would not return to this place if my life depended on it. Pros: I will never have to experience it again Cons: Too many to list more

WORST MEXICAN RESTAURANT EVER 5/15/2010

I started a city search account specifically to facilitate writing a review on La Fogata, literally, the worst Mexican restaurant on the planet. 45 minutes to get our drinks, hour and a half plus to get our food. When we complained the food was cold and had been overcooked and asked to speak with the manager, the coward Bennie told his waitstaff to tell us he had left and refused to speak with us. He than accused us of being desperate and trying to take advantage of the restaurant because of the economy. Whatever you do, do not waste your money on this strip mall dump. The worst restaurant experience of my entire life, and I have dined on 6 continents, so that's saying something. Pros: hour and a half long wait Cons: the worst Mexican restaurant on the planet more

GREAT PLACE FOR GOOD MEXICAN FOOD 1/11/2010

My fiance and I have been there 8-10 times since we've moved to Portland from Los Angeles 5 months ago, and we have had a great time each visit. The staff is friendly, the food is outstanding; everything that we have ordered has been exellent!!! Try the Grill Maya Pork Steak , Pescado Veracruz and the 32oz. Spicy Mango Margarita. Pros: FOOD, SERVICE. more

Great authentic mexican food pretty cheap 10/19/2009

My wife and I moved from California a few years ago and we are always in search of authentic mexican food. This place is one we continue to go back to. Great food, large portions. We just went and shared a La fogata nacho we got the small and didn't finish all of it. I am a huge fan of salsa and I love there's also good Guacamole, Some places have that fake neon green Guacamole. Not here Its fresh. Over all Highly recommend if you are looking for a new favorite. Pros: great food, friendly more

tortilla soup! 8/21/2009

Great mexican food with good prices. Go for the meals instead of the regular tacos, enchiladas, etc. Pros: Best tortilla soup anywhere! more

Our Favorite!!! 8/19/2009

We have tried many Mexican restaurants in Beaverton and Hillsboro...La Fogata is the one we keep coming back to. Huge menu, great prices and the food is AMAZING. Don't let the fact that it's in a strip mall and doesn't have all the bells and whistles on the outside (like Pepita's) fool you, it's the best food you'll find. Try chicken or shrimp poblano (my favorite) or the camarones al mojo de ajo (my husband's favorite)! Pros: Excellent food, Great prices more

Excellent mexican food! 2/7/2009

My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at La Fogata. It is so hard to find good Mexican food. La Fogata is located in a strip mall but don't judge it by its location. We went on a Saturday evening and were seated promptly. Our server brought us our menus and took our drink orders immediately. We were brought chips and salsa that were both home made. My wifes margarita was served in a huge goblet. I had a Dos Equis, on tap. Our food arrived surprisingly quickly for a busy night. This is usually a sign that a microwave is in use in the kitchen. Not the story at La Fogata. We each ordered combination plates. My wife had a taco and tostada. I had a chimichanga, relleno and taco. The food was wonderful. Fresh tasting. Good sized portions but not so much that any was wasted. I was especially thrilled that my plate had a large serving of both sour cream and guacamole, ordinarily you get a small dollop of one or the other and get charged for guacamole. We both ordered the shredded beef in our meals. It was very moist and flavorful. Our entire dinner totaled less then $33. The service was friendly. Decor was pleasant. Bathrooms were clean. If quality food is what you want along with good service and nice atmosphere La Fogata is the place to go. Pros: Delicious food. Good service. Very affordable. more

Best Mexican food in town by far 1/17/2009

I've ordered a lot of different items on the menu at La Fogata. My favs are the beef enchiladas, nachos, and I love love love the chicken fajita burrito. Super yummy! Everytime the food arrives at the table I'm amazed at how great it is. Its like the chef is making it for him/her self its so good....always a lot of cheese and full of meat etc. They don't skimp here. Pros: nice portions, quality ingredients Cons: horrible margaritas more

Good food, decent prices, but frequent, careless mistakes 11/20/2008

The good -- La Fogata has good food, and the people who work there are friendly. We came in often enough that they got to know us, and almost all of them seemed happy to see us. Food-wise, the chimis are great, the burritos are tasty, the mole enchiladas are good. And the prices are reasonable (except for the margaritas, but that's true of any restaurant these days). Other than Lupe's Escape in Aloha, it was our favorite. Pros: Food, prices Cons: Attention to detail, management attitude more

Very good...most times 5/17/2008

The food and the service can be a little inconsistant, but overall, very good food. The advantage here for us, is it is around the corner. If you are looking for ""authentic"" Mexican food in Beav in the hood, there are some food trucks that are wonderful. If you are looking for good, em, SoCal Mexi food, this is quite nice. Rice and especially the beans are very good, the house salsa, most times is very good, though a little less vinager and more real citrus, but I am being picky--bless 'em they use cilantro at least. The combos are their high spot--hence my quiveling about the ""real"" factor. The service is good and the management has been good--though the last time we were in there were whispered problems in a marriage which may effect the future of the good times that we have had in the past--which I hope were unfounded. Pros: good tasty gringo-isque Mexi-eats Cons: not much to whine about here more

not a good experience 1/26/2007

The hostess was rude from the start but the waiter was polite I suppose. The food was not very good at all, seemed to be very low quality. Made me sick to my stomach afterwards and the next days I was sick in a whole different way. Pros: cheap food, but standard pricing more or less convenient location Cons: bad food, bad service more
