Best

I love this place, the food is great, the cocktails and the service couldn't be better. Love Maya pork steak and the Shrimp Tacos. Best Mexican food in The City, no doubt about i...

Worst

The hostess was rude from the start but the waiter was polite I suppose. The food was not very good at all, seemed to be very low quality. Made me sick to my stomach afterwards ...

where's my fresh garnish??? 11/5/2006

3.5, good very reasonable, nice tile tables & decor. Salsa lacked fresh cilantro or onions - it was canned or bottled w/ a few too large chucks of tomato thrown. Good menu selection. I had a beef taco & tamale combo plate. Tamale meat & around edges dry... Over microwaved??? Taco meat yummy & a big taco - again.... wheres my pico de gallo? I had to order sour creme and guac on the side... more

Great Service! 11/3/2006

la fogata is in a strip mall, but there's a lively neighborhood-bar feel to the restaurant as well. they also have an outdoor seating area, which is nice. their menu selections are decently priced - i had the enchiladas suizas from the lunch menu, they were $6.95. shmackyrelish had combo #9, a ground beef taco and a tamale. i noticed that their flour tortillas are not made in-house, but on the other hand - they take the entertainment book! no pork carnitas on the menu, which is always a negative for me. the chips were served hot, but the salsa had that canned tomato taste, and very little cilantro or spicing. all in all, okay but not great. Pros: entertainment book participant Cons: bland storebought salsa and storebought tortillas more

45 minutes and still not served food! 5/18/2006

The service was EXTREMELY terriable, we were seated given 1 basket of chips and salsa along with our drinks/water. After 15-20 minutes chips were gone no refills on chips/salsa, drinks or water. Other customers came 10 minutes after us, recieved theire food before us and was given refills on chips/salsa and water. After 30 minutes waiting, staff continued to pass our table, never asked if we needed anything. Waitstaff continued to fix other orders. After being there for 45 minutes no food and bad customer service, we decided to leave and this is when the waitstaff wanted to ask what was the problem, our responce to the waitstaff was that theire service was NOT EXCEPTABLE and that people that came in after us were served before us. There were no appologies given either!!! Pros: Authentic/Ethnic, Parking Cons: Poor Service, Too long of a wait, Be more Friendlier more

Good place to meet with friends 4/22/2006

My Burrito was very good along with all the other food on my plate. The Margaritas were flavorless and weak. The service was okay. Pros: Burrito, Food Cons: Margaritas more

Never again 10/12/2005

This was a completely disappointing meal in almost every way. We were served chips but no salsa (eventually the salsa came after we asked for it). The margaritas were horrid (and expensive) -- a huge goblet of mostly slushy ice with the barest hint of a margarita flavor. They have a very large menu (with an interesting-looking, separate vegetarian menu), but the food was bland, the mole sauce was uninteresting and very sparse. The flour tortilla that came with the meal was so bad I actually spit out the bite I took. My 5-year old seemed to be happy with the meal, though. We'll keep searching for decent Mexican food in the Beaverton area. Pros: interesting decor for Cons: bland, boring food, awful margaritas more

MEXELLENT 5/24/2005

I eat there once week, service and food are exellent, Mexican restaurants abound but La Fogata's a favorite Pros: Service, Quality, Food more

No mas 5/23/2005

We were lured by all the positive reviews, but found La Fogata forgettable. The food lacked the abundance of flavors found in good Mexican. The chicken was unsalted even. The menu was extensive, but after a poor showing on a burrito and pollo asada, we'll not chance the more exotic fare. Service was friendly, but slow. Perhaps we just caught them on a bad night. Pros: parking, salsa Cons: flavor, service more

Outstanding food 12/13/2004

This place truly blew me away. When I walked in the door I was skeptical of how the overall experience would be after surveying the very ""strip mall""-esque decor. However the attentive and quiet service coupled with the delicious masterpieces from the kitchen will turn me into a regular. The portions were huge and all the flavors were in proper proportion. The chips were plentiful and still hot and the salsa was mild enough not to require two gallons of water. Even such a simple item as deep-fried ice cream was notable in its quality. This is truly a diamond in the rough for Westside diners. Pros: Large portions, quick service, parking more

Another Favorite 3/9/2004

Although I'm not sure how authentically Mexican the food is, it's VERY good, and reasonably priced. We have yet to have tried anything bad from the menu, and for the most part, the service is great. I wish I could remember the name of a certain waiter who's been there since it opened, but he's the BEST! As noted in another review, the margaritas are spendy, and aren't worth the price, in my opinion. One other thing that bothers me... the seats in the booths are terribly uncomfortable. But I'll put up with a sore butt in exchange for the great food. Pros: food taste, service Cons: , seating more

Fresh Fogata 12/16/2002

The staff were friendly and service was good. The food quality was good and ingredients were fresh. I don't think this restaurant would be considered an authentic Mexican restaurant, but I think it's a good combination between the Mexican and American. I had the Fogata Burritos with steak meat--not the best burrito I've had, but good. A bit pricy at $8.95, but not out of line. The atmosphere was quite nice with many ornaments. Pros: Friendly service, Fresh ingredients, Nice atmosphere more

Tasty Food 7/21/2002

Great selections and tasty food. Ask for the hot salsa with your chips. The margarita's are $8 each. Not at all worth it. You're better off with a Dos Equis or Pacifico, but the food is very good. Pros: menu selections, taste, service Cons: margarita prices more
