Ay-yi-yi! Everything was great! We'll definitely be ordering from this place again.

Worst

I ate here last night and had a decent experience. It was a bit pricey for me and the margaritas tasted off. I will have to try eating and drinking here again next month, maybe th...

La Cabana Rocks! 4/3/2007

The margarita's at La Cabana are amazing, a great way to end a busy work work for sure. The food is really really good as well. The atmosphere is friendly and you are sure to feel right at home with the staff who are ever friendly towards their patrons. Pros: Great margarita's and service more

Awesome margaritas 11/17/2006

We had some sort of blue margarita (appropriate that i do not remember the name of it) but they were very yummy and they were blue. The food was good- cheesy, not authentic, but very tasty, and the staff was very accomadating. I would go back. We had good success parking in the Big Lots lot across the street. more

Unexpected find! 11/14/2006

La Cabana was a great little discovery. I've noticed it many times while driving down Lincoln and finally stopped in and was so happy I did. The food is great and the margs are even better. I definitely recommend! more

chimichangas 11/9/2006

they've got chimichangas here on fridays - come in the afternoons when it's not so packed. otherwise expect to wait on a weekend evening. fun place to bring out of towners though it may not be the mexican food they're used to eating. more

Good Mexican Food 11/2/2006

I like this place a lot. It is small, and cozy and the food is excellent. Even better, it is open late and is a perfect option to eat on a weekend night. The ccombo plartes with the rice and beans are very good. Not to mention the strawberry margheritas. more

Great burritos!! 9/17/2006

The area and the location is not so great but the food is great- tyr their burritos- any of them or carne asada is a great choice Pros: food, hours Cons: location more

This place is GREAT! 8/25/2006

We went here last night after much discussion about where to eat dinner. The food is delicious (especially the rice!) compared to most Mexican places. They have a list of one-of-a-kind quesadillas on the back of the menu, plus addictive margaritas! When we were there, there was a roaming Mariachi Band. It was very romantic and the prices were just right! Pros: Prices, margaritas, atmosphere Cons: Very popular (so it's crowded). more

Great even at 1AM! 8/7/2006

I went to this place last night late because my girlfriend gets off from work late and we were not only surprised that the place was open buy it was crowded and very festive at 1am! The food was great and the margaritas were awsome! I tried the Carne adobada and I recommend that dish. The chips and guac were good. My girlfriend had the tortilla soup and it was incredible!. This place is a great date spot... well at least it was for me! Start at the patio with margaritas, work your way to the booths :) Pros: Fun place, great Margaritas!!! Cons: Parking more

Mediocre food, nothing special 8/6/2006

I've eaten here twice. I've never had to wait for a table. I think they have the worst chips and salsa, and it seems they try to nickle and dime you to death- charging extra for everything. The tortillas do taste good and homemade, but nothing on the menu ever jumps out at me as something I really want to eat. The dishes I have tried have been okay - not horrible, but not great. Service was okay, but not stellar as well. I prefer the margaritas at El Cholo. This restaurant is all right, but not my favorite. Pros: Open late Cons: Food, chips and salsa more

Cinco de Mayo 7/23/2006

If you are one of those people that celebrate holidays for the night life, then this is a great place to be! The Mariachi Band will serenade your table as you enjoy the tasty margaritas and authentic cuisine. The patio is a nice break from the crowded restaurant. Pros: Margarita, indoor/outdoor dining Cons: crowded more

Good Patio in Back 7/21/2006

Stick to the simple menu items like burritos, enchiladas, nachos, chile relleno. They are good. THe ""Specials"" are not worth the price and are put together sloppily. Godd margarits. Good Service. more

Best Food Period! 7/12/2006

Ive been going to La Cabana since i was a litlle boy! This is my familys favorite resaurant!I love it!Great hours and excellent food! The waiters are so humble and i will keep coming back, some day with my kids to when i end of having them...lol... more

Great Mexican Food - Da Bomb Margaritas! 7/7/2006

We have been coming to La Cabana now for over 2 years and every time we have gone it is GREAT! And the Margaritas?!!! they are da BOMB! Theyre not watered down and they got a good kick. I highly recommend the Chile Rellenos and the hand made tortillas - they are to die for! Go for the food, the Margs and the fun! Stay away if your looking to be pampered like a prima donna. Its causual and romantic and authentic. Try to get the patio seating its a blast and festive... if you can get a spot Pros: Margaritas margaritas! more

Taco bell has better food 7/6/2006

when you order food to be delivered, watch out for the fine print. Unless you print up the menu online, you won't know about the $3 delivery charge, or that the tortillas (which I was craving and are hand made) are not included in your to go (delivery) order, only the pre-fab tortillas which are like cardboard. So, when we received our delivery order, which was cold, soggy and pretty much tasteless, we saw that our tortillas (which i believed to be hand made) were not with the order. I called the restaurant asked them please deliver them. They gave me attitude, and said ""45 minutes to 1 hr). When the tortillas finally made it to our front door I was shocked to see that they were not ""hand made"". they were stiff, tasteless (like much of their food I've found out over the past 25 years) and a complete let down. Sorry La Cabana, I've never liked your food, and guess what, you remain on my list of the worlds rudest waiters and bad food. If you think I'm being to harsh, then call in your order for delivery, you'll see. Pros: close to home Cons: terrible food more

Mouth Watering Margarita's 7/5/2006

When I make plans to go to La Cabana, my mouth starts watering on the way, thinking of the great taste of that salted rim on my glass and the great drink that the bartender puts in front of me. I am a big fan of the Chef Specialty that they serve, it seems really popular, but you have got to try the ""Original"". Sometimes, one of those is just enough to get you going (it makes like 3 small glasses) and it is made for you right in front of you. As far as the food, well the salsa is great with their fresh warm chips that they keep filling up the basket with. My favorite is (and this is so hard to decide on just one) would have to be the combination that comes with the grilled chicken al carbon soft tacos, they are to die for. The staff are very professional and polite too. You have to get the feeling that the back outdoor patio gives you, its almost like everyone knows eachother. I've gone alone and seen old friends and made new friends there. Anyway, try the place out and I promise that you won't be sorry. Pros: Ambience and Service Cons: That they aren't open earlier in the morning and that they should have a dance floor built over the place. more

Best Mango Dessert 6/26/2006

I thought the food was mediocre. My cousins and I shared 2 orders of empanadas, Enchilada Del Mar, Barbacoa, and Veracruzano. Out of those dishes, the Barbacoa tasted the best. For dessert we had the Mango Flameados and it was heavenly delicious!! It is a must have!! I would go back just for that dessert!! Pros: Mango Flameados Cons: Parking and the neighborhood more

Perfect Mexican 6/13/2006

Great food. Great service. Great margaritas. So many tasty choices! We're always excited to go there and are never disappointed! more

great food!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6/8/2006

great food, good service, fair prices. what more can you ask for!!!!!!!!! Customer for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

It has me coming back for more 5/8/2006

A hidden gem beckons me, and it's name is La Cabana. Open those big wooden doors to a dimly lit room with big comfy booths. Attending this place at night will ensure a fascinating dining experience, complete with the best mariachi band in town! Relax with a few drinks in hand, and snack upon the mouthwatering homemade tortilla chips (by the plentiful). I recommend one of the following dishes... -el verde burrito (massive in size and great taste) -chicken quesadilla -tacos -margaritas Some may complain about the waiters lack of immense friendly attitudes, never mistake them for being discourteous. If you need anything they're there for you, they're more introverted/shy (a far cry from rude). Enchanting times, amazing food, good service, what more could you ask for? Now go I say, drink and be merry! Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere Cons: It's daytime hours more

Great Margarita and Food! 5/5/2006

My favorite place whenever I'm around Venice, I dont know what all the bad reviews are talking about, I grew up on Mexican Food. and this is at authentic/ and good as it gets, great job La Cabana, I'll be back many times! Pros: Cool, Open Late, Nice motif more

Owner Message
  • Since 1963, La Cabana in Venice has been serving great Mexican food. A little senorita pats out thick tortillas by hand on a brick-layered fireplace and a festive strolling guitar trio takes you back to pueblos of Mexico. There's a colorful outdoor patio where you can wash down chips and salsa picosa with over 18 varieties of margaritas. La Cabana serves monster burritos and sopes made fresh from the tortilla comal. The Chile Rellenos are to die for and they have an excellent Carne Adobada (pork steak marinated in a smokey chile ancho and pasilla sauce).
