Worth the splurge 4/20/2006

Our entire experience was positive, from the elegant, but understated decor, the attentive service and amazing food. We were there on a Thursday night and had a reservation, but it would not have been required. Everything we tried was excellent - for appetizers we had a baked mussel special and the prosciutto and fresh burrata cheese. For entrees my friend had the halibut special and I had the red beet tagliolini with homemade quail sausage, which is a signature dish - highly recommended. It's pricey and yes, you only have chianti or cabernet to choose from by the glass, but the chianti was perfectly fine. It's worth the splurge. Pros: food, service, decor Cons: expensive, few wines by th glass more

Best Italian in LA 4/9/2006

I ate at La Botte with a group of Italian businessmen. They felt it was the best Italian restaurant on the westside, and I'd have to agree. I've been back, and it was even better. Every dish I've tried has been simply amazing. more

horrible service, bad food, unamusing decor 3/17/2006

It took 15 minutes before a waiter came to our table & the bus boy never brought us bread or water in that time. Interior design is poor. There is an open view of the street & a huge red exit sign. Santa Monica Big Blue Blus shakes the tables whenever it passes by (about every 5 minutes). Bathrooms are only a few feet from the tables. The waiters try to impress you with their thick Italian accents, you cant understand what they are saying. Wine by the glass list does not exist. Red wine drinkers: you only have TWO yes 2 to choose from: Chianti and Cab. Finally the food came. The special fettucini with scallops was so salty it was inedible. And the sea bass ravioli had a horrible stench of fish and was extremely dry. Definitely not worth your money and more importantly not worth your time. Pros: nothing Cons: price, food, horrible wine selectn more

spectacular 3/16/2006

having been to and loved Piccolo I was eager to try the new restaurant. The quality of the food and experience of the meal is one to remember. It will remind anyone that has ever been to Italy that Italian food is more then lasagna or spaghetti. It is about simplicity and quality ingredients and when that is combined with great sewrvice you have a winner. The veal special, the artichoke salad, the ricotta cake all memorable. more

Such a wonderful experience! 2/23/2006

My boyfriend and I dine out frequently at some of the hottest restaurants in LA and SF, but this was really one of our best experiences! The service was amazing and Antonio - the chef - us feel like family. My boyfriend had the cured duck breast and wild boar and said it was amazing, I tried the sea urchin and squid ink pasta, which were both unique and absolute perfection! I will definitely be back soon... more

Very expensive but...worth it!! 2/17/2006

The food here is great..so authentic and tasty..I'm italian and if this place wasn't that expensive I would come here to eat every day. Good for special occasions and dates. My favorite? The risotto. Great selection of wines. Pros: ambience, food, service Cons: parking more

Could use a little help 1/13/2006

This is a very handsome restaurant but unfortunately the food did not match up. My ahi tuna was so-so but my boyfriends beef carpaccio (sp?) was not good at all. It was drizzled with so much oil that it killed flavor of anything else. The entrees were okay as was the dessert. They did have excellent decaf expresso though. It was pricey for the quality of the food. more
