A Great Sushi Hang out Place. I love the great food menus and taste. what a great place for anyone craving Japanese food in town. more

great fresh sushi, service a little slow 12/30/2011

the sushi was delisicous, you can tell it was prepared on the spot- it even felt like they may have had an aquarium on site! the meal took a little while to arrive, but i still would reccomend this place to a family memeber or friend! more

Best Sushi in Queens! 9/7/2011

I have been there many times over. Why? you ask...their food is always consistantly GREAT! Angry Lobster roll and the Ebi Ebi Roll...Yummm!....Drinks specials are easy on the pocket. I always go here with friends, out of towners and my boyfriend.....so it's a nice place for all kinds of crowds......their hot food is so deliscious as well. try the Jade dumplings, seafood spring rolls, sizzling beef, thai lover seafood combo, shrimp fried rice (this comes in a pinapple half) and I can go on...that's how much I have been here.....2 Thumbs! more

Great Sushi Spot! 6/26/2011

Been a regular customer since this spot opened and this place only gets busier and busier. With good turnover, the quality of the sushi is always fresh and tasty. I frequently come here because of the friendly service and comfortable environment. The managers always make an effort to talk to me and the Front of house Hostesses are to drool for ;) As for food my favorites are: Ocean Roll, Angry Lobster Roll, Firecracker Appetizer, and Blacken Chicken. They all go great with an order of Passion Fruit Saketini. more

I was suprised how fresh the fish was! Great place to go!!! I'll definately be back! =D more

GOOD Time! 8/20/2010

I've been to Kyoto several times with my girlfriend and never really had a bad incident. Their food is delicious! The place is pretty popular and it does get busy, therefore service can't always be excellent, but I definitely have seen better waitstaffs elsewhere, so there IS room for improvement. OTherwise they have a really nice staff, great food, Excellent sushi and a nice place to take a date. Make a reservation... more

Bad Service 7/17/2010

I've been there 3 times now, and everytime i went there i always get bad experience. I first went there with a bunch of friends on a thursday night. A waiter served us, we just sit for not even a minute, he asked if we r ready or not, when the food comes, he didn't even give us spoon or fork for the fried rice we order, everytime we asked for something, if he remember to give it to us, he gave it with unpleasant face, we have to constantly ask to refill our water, he didn't bother to ask if everything was ok or no, but at the end, when we decided not to tip him, coz he didn't deserved it, he asked us where is his tip! Unbelivable!! The ass manager saw that, came to us and ask was everything ok, so i said that the service was very very bad.\r The second time was on a Monday ,my coworker took me here again for a business lunch, this time i'm not complaining about the service, the waitress was very nice and gave us a good service. We were just enjoying our food when there's a bunch of group came and sit at one of the big booth they have, but Gosh they are so noisy, they are screaming and laughing so hard, even the other tables were complaining that they are too loud,i can't even hear what my coworker said to me, so i made complain to the waitress and one of the hostess and they said they're gonna find the manager to talk to that table since the manager is on his break. The manager finally showed up after a while, but all he did was looking at those booth and did nothing, i saw that and wait for awhile, he disappeared again, so i stand up and go to the front desk asking for the manager again, this time i wait till he showed up from his break while someone called him and talk to him myself that he should talk to that table to lower their voice down alittle, then finally he did something, he talked to them, whats the matter with this people?? Isn't manager get paid to take care of customer's complain?? He doesn't seem to bother maybe because those people order lots of martinis???\r Third time was last weekend, our luck we got the same old waiter that served us when i first came there, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service, he's lucky my friend was good enough to gave 10% tip this time, i don't think i'll come back there again, the food was ok but if you have to eat there with someone that served you with unpleasant face all the time??? I don't think so, some of my friends also said this place now have bad service, when they made mistakes, or give bad service and we complain, all they do is just give the customer 10% off Pros: Nice decor more

Great Sushi 5/11/2010

I’m fully addicted to Kyoto, I highly recommend there rolls. I drive from Long Island City at least twice a week to have dinner with my wife. Pros: Sushi Rolls more

Great place for food, conversation and drinks! 3/18/2010

I go to Queens College which is near Kyoto and one evening I stopped in to get some sushi and I fell in love with the décor and the vibe. At the time I was also looking for a venue to have my 25th birthday dinner celebration. After being in Kyoto for 10 minutes and asking if they cater private parties, I instantly made the decision to have my birthday dinner there. \r \r The catering manager was very helpful and flexible with my all needs. She made great suggestions in terms of the room décor and everything turned out fabulous. \r On the evening of my event everyone from the staff to hostesses to bartenders were extremely polite and helpful. They made all my guests feel welcomed and comfortable.\r All of my guests had a great time and really enjoyed the food (presentation, quality and quantity) and the ambiance. \r They applauded me on finding the location and deciding to have it there.\r My uncle is planning a 40th birthday celebration and I have already recommended Kyoto for his celebration.\r Overall everything at Kyoto was just WONDERFUL!!!\r Pros: Great decor more

A DEFINITE RECOMMEND! 12/9/2009

I recently held my best friend's bridal shower here in the private party room and I have to say, this was a great decision. The room was clean, spacious, and was set up exactly as I had requested and envisioned. The staff, from the owner, to the host/hostesses, to the wait staff were ALL incredibly helpful and friendly. The wait staff was always ready to help with whatever request we had. From inquiring about certain foods, to providing more plates/utensils, to even helping with the media equipment, I felt completely comfortable in their care. The food was superb and affordable. Our guests all raved about the quantity as well as the quality. In particular, the sizzling beef, basil chicken, thai chicken wings, and spicy tuna rolls were phenomenal! My best friend and all her guests gave thumbs up to the bridal party for picking this location. Highly recommend! Pros: Awesome party room, great wait staff, and more! more

Good Food / Great People 11/29/2009

I live in the neighborhood of this restaurant and I read quite a few of the Cityscape reviews, both good and bad. I couldn’t believe the bad ones for a place that has been there so long, so I thought I would give it a try. I was very pleased with my experience. The hostess staff was very courteous and friendly. I was seated at one of the bench seats that someone wrote was hard and uncomfortable. I guess if you sit on the hard wood maybe, but the seats had a pad and it was fine. I got there about 4PM, was seated promptly and was helped with my menu suggestion by one of the hostesses. After I placed my order, she came back to my table and advised me that it was not yet 4PM (3:57 PM to be exact) and I could have my meal using the discounted lunch menu. I thought that was very thoughtful. My overall experience was the food was very good, the wait staff was excellent and I will be sure to repeat my visit. Pros: Excellent food more

Consistently Great Food and Service 11/7/2009

About a year ago, we were looking for a place to go in Queens that had the quality and service we had in the city without the hassle of having to travel into the city. We went out on a limb and tried Kyoto and have been going there ever since - at least once a week. The food is excellent and the staff is extremely friendly. We were amazed at the quality of sushi, which is comparable to many places we go to in the city. For those who prefer something cooked, the Thai/Japanese kitchen menu is extensive and delicious. It's great to have a place to go that accommodates the sushi lovers and those who prefer their food well-done. The tatami booths and private party rooms are great for gatherings and private parties. \r \r Whether it's date night or just a casual night out with friends, Kyoto has yet to disappoint. The atmosphere is casual yet romantic and chic. It's a pleasant surprise to have a place like this in Queens. The cocktails, sakes and desserts are definitely worth a try! My recommendation - start with a Lychee Martini, followed by the Sushi Deluxe or Pineapple Fried Rice and end with the Thai fried banana with honey for dessert. Mmmmmmm! Pros: Friendly staff, great food, excellent ambience more

Private Party Rooms are a delight! 10/27/2009

we recently had a nice birthday celebration in the private party room and was pampered by the staff. we were loud and a bit messy but the noise never bothered anyone else so we could be ourselves. there was a ball game on the tv, which some of us could watch while courses were being served. all in all, we had a great time and would definitnely do it again! Pros: Private Area for large groups, special menu for our budget Cons: Away from the main crowd and not close enough to the bar more

Tasty Food, Trendy Atmosphere! 7/22/2009

Kyoto has become my favorite Japanese and Thai restaurant. Not only do they have delicious food, the restaurant has a hip atmopshere one can only expect to find in Manhattan. The best thing about Kyoto is their special rolls, they are addictive! The fish they use is undeniably fresh. Their salmon teriyaki is superb! All of Kyoto's dishes are reasonably priced for their fine quality. Definitely try their tatami booths for a more authentic Japanese eating experience. Pros: creative platings, tatami booths, superb special rolls Cons: busy at times, especially on weekends more

Great hip, casual, comfortable sushi place! 5/21/2009

This is our staple sushi restaurant we go to in Queens. It's reasonable, family-friendly, is always busy which is always important for me when eating sushi. And the wait staff is always friendly. And the food is great. Love the specialty rolls and the Dynamite! Pros: Very friendly, nice ambience, food is good quality, not $$$ more

Pay for the setting 1/25/2009

The girls in the front desk are really friendly and nice. The waiters were helpful. The food came out fast. The wooden seats werent as comfortable as I thought it was. The setting of the restaurant is very nice, sets the mood just right. I felt like I paid for the decor at Kyoto, rather than the food. The food was nothing out of the ordinary. Although the drinks seemed interesting and new, the bartender didnt seem too happy making them. Overall, the trip to Kyoto was mediocre. Pros: The atmosphere Cons: Not worth it more

Great Sushi at Amazing Prices! 12/29/2008

I've been to Kyoto on numerous occassions. The first time, I just stopped in to try it out. I ended up parking my butt in one of the seats by the bar and enjoyed some great food! I enjoyed some great wine as well as a great conversation with the friendly bartender the entire time I was there. It's rare that you see a bartender have a conversation with every customer who sits by the bar and waits for their takeout.\r \r The 2nd time, I brought a date there for dinner. Upon entering, not 1 but 2 hostesses quickly dropped what they were doing to greet me and my date. The atmosphere was extremely cozy and romantic. Eventhough it was a pretty busy night, the wait staff was very quick and attentive. The drinks and food both came out extremely fast to my surprise as sushi restaurants tend to take a long time to serve especially when busy! The sushi was extremely fresh and the have a great twist on many traditional drinks and plates. My date had a great evening and was extremely happy that I took her here.\r \r I would recommend Kyoto to everyone I know and even people I didn't know! Pros: Great Food & Service! more
