A GEM IN QUEENS 7/10/2007

I had the pleasure of dining here a while back and I enjoyed it immensely. The ambience was great as well as the sushi. I was greeted by the staff and my server was very attentive. One of the things I enjoyed the most was the fatty tuna. It was excellent. It was also extremely well priced. This place is certainly a gem in Queens. OPEN ONE IN DC.\r \r Best regards.\r Pros: Service, food ambience Cons: You have to drive or take a car service. But it seems that is just the area standard. more

Come for sushi, not the Thai! 7/8/2007

I came here with my family on a Sunday afternoon. We wanted to try this before deciding if we wanted to hold a large family gathering there. The ambiance and decor is lovely. The hostess and wait staff is very warm and friendly. I wish I could give the same positive reviews about the food. The sushi was good and fresh. The Thai food was undesirable. I ordered two basic, fairly easy to prepare dishes. The green papaya salad was not authentic, it tasted very vinegary. The chicken massaman curry was also not authentic. This curry dish usually is made with your choice of meat, onions, potatoes, and that is it! Kyoto sushi's version consisted of only two potatoes cubes (which tasted like it was previously frozen), mushrooms, zucchini, peppers, and asparagus. Perhaps the chefs wanted their own spin on this dish however the taste of the curry was not that of massaman curry. This is a cute place to bring a date for cocktails and sushi if you are a local. Pros: decor, waitstaff, sushi Cons: thai food more

Great Place for Sushi & Thai Food 4/20/2007

We ordered sushi along with pineapple fried rice. Everything was wonderful. They even have a sunday brunch which includes dessert. We had Mango ice cream it was awesome. I really like this place. more

Great Customer Service and Delicious Food! 2/12/2007

Group of 10 for a birthday dinner on a busy Saturday Night, with reservations. The staff was accomodating and helpful. The food was exceptional, the service impressive and the bill at the end of the evening reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will be back again. more

Awesome spot for a romantic date!!!! 1/20/2007

Guys, if you want to impress your date without going broke, this is the place to go! First off, the ambience is great and very romantic. In case you are not too much into sushi, there is a great variety of dishes that you can enjoy. The Japanese food is great, however, it was the Thai food that I was very pleased by. The Thai food is very tasty, but if you cant handle too much spice , you can request a mild version of your dish and I assure you it will be equally wonderful. On the down side, sitting time is a bit long on the weekends, so a reservasation would be the way to go. So, if you want to get a second date, go to Kyoto! more

Wonderful Sushi and Ambience 1/16/2007

Walking into this restaurant, I felt that it was a pretty friendly environment and the waiters were attentive. I loved the Japanese feel to the restaurant and recommend sitting in the tatami rooms. The sushi was also wonderful, especially the Godzilla Roll. I would definitely recommend couples to go to this restaurant, it looks like a great place to take a date. But at the same time, I would also bring a group of my friends to pig out on sushi in the tatami room. And I had a pretty easy time finding parking since there are meters in the front and spots around the block. I would recommend people to get there early or make reservations for large groups though, because this restaurant can fill up quickly. Basically, I think everyone should try this place out because its not easy finding a great Japanese place for a good price in Queens, let alone serving Thai cuisine too! Pros: Great sushi, ambience, parking in front, cool tatami rooms Cons: Wish I could stuff more people in the tatami room haha more

Sushi is okay, Thai is not. 12/28/2006

This is an okay Restaurant. I recommend going there once in a blue moon if you like Japanese.\r I am curious why it gets such high rating. \r \r I had the Pad Thai in addition to some rolls. I don't recommend Pad Thai here. \r Also, the service was very slow. With better management, this place might be better.\r Price is okay. Pros: not much. Cons: too many more

Best sushi in Queens 10/29/2006

We ordered a lot of food (Thai and Japanese) and it was all delectable. Kyoto offers a diverse menu... lots of sushi rolls to choose from, not to mention the menu actually explains what the rolls consist of! Kyoto is a clean resturant with fresh fish and great portions that are nicely priced. We went on a weeknight and had the place to ourselves! If you are addicted to sushi and live in Queens, you have to visit Kyoto... it's a real treat!!!! more

good food 10/8/2006

Kyoto rocks Brooklyn and Queens! 8/22/2006

Kyoto BROOKLYN is an awesome place -- cheap eats, great food, fast service. I didn't think I'd find a comparable place when I moved to Queens. Luckily, the owners decided to share the wealth and opened up Kyoto QUEENS. This place is a joy even to the pickiest eaters. You're bound to find something suitable to all tastebuds. I went with 11 hard-to-please diners -- we asked for cooked food, raw food, spicy food, not spicy. The host and hostess' suggestions were right on target. Service was excellent; food was original, delicious, fresh, and beautifully plated. The unique drink menu is a plus for those who enjoy something other than green tea with their meal. The atmosephere and decor is great for casual dining, family outtings, special occassions, and even dates. 22 thumbs ups from all 11 of us! Pros: Great value for great food and service more

Great food, Excellent atmosphere 7/12/2006

The food was fresh and tasted delicious, the decor of the restaurant made the experience even better. You can't find any place like this in Queens. I definitely say this is a two thumbs up from me! Pros: Great atmosphere more

Great Place 7/3/2006

Kyoto has great food, not over priced, good customer service and a wonderful atmosphere, I would definately recommend it for a group of friends, it's even a great place to bring dates. more

THIS PLACE IS GREAT FOR SUSHI! 6/19/2006

MY MOTHER AND I WERE IN THE MOOD FOR SOME SUSHI AND I HEARD THIS PLACE GOT GD RATINGS, SO WE WENT THERE ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THE SUSHI WAS EXCELLENT BUT, THE HOSTESS WAS RUDE AS WELL AS THE WAITRESS WE HAD. IF THEY REPLACED THE TWO WITH NICER AND FRIENDLIER PEOPLE, THE RESTAURANT WOULD BE A MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE PLACE TO BE. Pros: SUSHI IS FRESH Cons: STAFF IS NOT SO FRIENDLY more

Great Sushi - Service Average 6/5/2006

I've been here quite a number times. I'm not a fan of any of their appetizers or Thai food, but their Japanese food is great. I love the creative rolls that they have on their menus, and none of them were a disappointment. Sushi and sashimi are excellent as well! The servers were really attentive, which is good in a way. However, it feels like they hover over us, and almost feels like they want us to leave. I've had this happen a few times, so it didn't just happen once. Pros: Great Japanese Food, Good Parking, Reasonable Prices Cons: Average Service more

Great neighborhood restaurant 4/21/2006

Clearly a unique restaurant in Queens. the food is simply amazing and very different from any other restaurants in the area. its dual appeal came when my girlfriend who doesnt enjoy raw food, the thai kitchen offered an array of hot & spicy dishes. this may be offset somewhat by the service where it does get slow/crowded on weekends. the space is particularly large (good for big parties) with a nice decor especially within the tatami rooms Pros: great sushi, romantic decor, birthday parties Cons: street parking more

BEST JAPANESE/THAI RESTAURANT IN QUEENS! 4/1/2006

I was celebrating my 30th birthday here with a bunch of friends and it was one of the best dining experience I have ever had. The food was out of this world - especially the DYNAMITE. The wait staff was friendly and the decor was beautiful. I definitely will reccommend this place for big parties but be sure to call in advance for a reservsation because this place really gets packed fast. Even though the place was packed and full, the waitress came around several times to asked if everything was okay. I disagree with some of the other reviews because I thought the service was great. Pros: GREAT FOOD, FRIENDLY STAFF, BEAUTIFUL DECOR Cons: LACK OF PARKING more

EXCELLENT FOOD/FRIENDLY SERVICE 3/31/2006

I highly reccommend this place to everyone. The food was excellent and the ambience was great. The staff was friendly and attentive. I read the other reviews and decided to check out the place. I agree the place gets busy real fast but I thought the staff was still attentive. The food was just amazing and I definitely will be back for more. more
