Best

My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful dinner at Klee that we we went back for brunch the next day. The pea soup was velvety and perfectly seasoned, adorable little lobster roll...

I was really excited about dining here, but came away very disappointed. We arrived fairly early for a NYC diner: 7:45 PM on a weekday, and the restaurant was about 1/4 full. Ye...

Best Dining Experience EVER! 1/19/2007

I have been to Klee with friends and clients on numerous occasions since it has opened and have had an absolutely wonderful time every single time I have been there! The environment is classy and sophisticated yet warm and comfortable, and the food is excellent - completely was out of this world. Everyone - from the lady who took our coats, to the servers, to Daniel (the Chef ) made us feel pampered and at home. I have lived in this city all my life and have been to many happening great restaurants, but I have to say that Klee outshines them all. What a gem! Pros: Food, customer service, atmosphere more

Amazing Dinner at Klee! 1/19/2007

Some friends and myself had dinner at Klee on Thursday night and the place was alive and great in many ways. We had the Alsatian pizza which was delicious, the char tartare was fresh and interesting. I'm told the soups were great too (was not allowed to try them). For main courses we had home made linguini with goatfish which was the best pasta i've had in NY. My friend had the swordfish steak which was amazing -- huge, fresh, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The service was warm and knowledable and the design is creative, smart and very cool. The place is chic and modern without being cold or pretentious. It was the best dining experience in NY Ive had in ages. Can't wait to go back already for the pork chop! Pros: Excellent food Cons: hard to get a reservation more

Klee writes there own reviews- Be warned!!- Just read though some of them!! 1/18/2007

- I wrote this review( please see below) last week and it seems that the Klee Management team( or an employee)- have been writing there own wounderful reviews about there own restaurant(that is so shady). How do I know this because they reference my own personal review. Please please be smart ( real citysearch users) - I am telling the true about my horrible experience at Klee- Becareful or it could totally happen to you- Everytime I ride by Klee in I curse them!!\r ?Klee the worst mistake of my life?\r I ate at Klee last week for the second time (because the first time was amazing). The food and service really went down hill from the first time I was there. The pork chops were all fat and not really cooked through all the way (isn?t pork supposed to be cooked?). I brought a celebrity friend of mine who couldn?t even eat her scallops because they were horrible. Also, another friend informed me that the risotto he ordered was basically rice oatmeal. I was so embarrassed that I recommended this place and it turned out to be a big disappointment (WORST EVER). I had the food taken back and then the blond host/manager came over and offered us something else (by that time we were so over Klee all we wanted to do was get out of there). They gave us free desert for our troubles but that stinks for me because I don?t eat desert. And at the end of the meal the manager came over again to apologize. I told her what happen (in regards to all the food orders) also letting her know that I do not eat desert and how I didn?t even like the desert (because other people at the table did not like it) and she said "" Wow your hard to please""- I was so upset!! And then they still charged us for the horrible food. They even called me later in the week to apologize again-Klee is NOT CLUTCH.\r P.S Don?t get me started on the rubber sword fish.... stay far from Klee - trust me!!! Pros: Not a thing Cons: Everything - food , service- Shady Management more

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE - EXCELLENT!!! 1/16/2007

Klee has only been open for two months and I realized today that it has become my new local spot; I've dined there at least once a week. Having lived in Chelsea for 15 years I've seen many restaurants come and go, Klee seems to be here to stay. I knew right away that this was going to be a great restaurant when I heard that it was chef-owned and chef-driven but what I didn't realize was how huge a spot they are filling and how consistently great the experience would be. It has a very friendly menu featuring a large number of dishes. Whether we are in the mood for seafood, meat, pasta or whatever they have something to offer (even tasty vegetarian options). The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and the atmosphere. Klee offers many wines by the glass and a large selection of half bottles of wine. The design is very pleasing and the bar is quite comfortable for dinner. I find the staff to be gracious and professional. I cant say enough about this place... Klee's food is outstanding... truly delicious. Don't miss it! Pros: Food, Value, Options more

Enjoy this place before it becomes impossible to get a table 12/30/2006

This place is a jewel. The service is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere stimulating without being too loud for conversation. Chef Daniel Angerer is extremely talented and creative. After a few visits, standouts for me include an elegantly prepared lamb shank, a rich and refined macaroni and cheese with lobster, and an exceptionally done fresh pasta with roasted cherry tomatoes and olives. Among desserts, the baumkuchen is not to be missed. The price range is lower than one would expect for this level of quality. A well-balanced wine list (a bottle of Chateau de Fieuzal was superb) tops it off. more

Place with great food and service 12/21/2006

Couple days ago I read review in NY Post about this restaurant. \r Although it isn't in my neighborhood I decided to pay a visit to this new place and to my surprise I was fascinated. Great host, very charming young lady welcomed me and my companion. We were seated at the bar where we got excellent service, from great cocktails to knowledgeable explanations of foreign dishes.\r all in all i had great time there and I would recommend this place to anyone who likes good food, great atmosphere, good service, and excellent hosts . Pros: great food and drinks Cons: still under constuction more

Best New Restaurant! 12/21/2006

I've followed Chef Daniel Angerer from fresh to Klee for his halibut and lobster rolls and am even more impressed that I was before. The menu at Klee is so varied and filled with delicious choices. I had the showrdfish steak which was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. The tarte flambee is definitely the best in NY and the sacher torte was lovely, light and traditional, the way it should be. Klee staff was friendly and warm and the place was beautiful. I cannot wait to go back! Pros: Great Chef, Excellent Food and Warm Atmosphere more

Hate to disagree with you 12/20/2006

but the food is good (not exceptional). The service, however, is another story. The hostess seated as quickly and pleasantly. Then the wait began. It took at least 15 minutes for our server to ask for our order. Once we did order, things moved very slowly as if time had been set in slow motion. The server seemed disinterested. As a neighbor, I am disappointed to say that it was a frustrating experience for the price/quality. I though the shrimp appetizer was interesting and flavorful. The hangar steak was cooked properly but had little flavor. The ice cream was adequate. I am sure that many of my issues will be worked out in time, but the disinterested service at the beginning of a restaurant's life is reason for concern. If the delays had been kitchen-related, I would have been more understanding based on the newness of the venture. If the hostess (owner, I believe) is able to get her staff excited about the place, I am sure it will be a success. The area certainly needs nice restaurants. Pros: pleasant hostess, location, look Cons: service more

Pefect balance 12/17/2006

A wondeful experience - the restaurant is a nicer version of casual with elegant appointments, a beautiful and spacious bar area and completely delicious food. The Alsatian pizza melts in your mouth - you literally stop and take notice. Pros: The food is simply superb more

high-end dining meets cool yet cozy environ 12/17/2006

OK. I'm a fool for lobster rolls. So I live with disappointment. But I've found a chef who understands that the lobster is supposed to be the main attraction! So I thought my second visit to Klee -- the very new, hip and trendy but comfy and friendly (who knew those terms could be said together in one sentence?) -- would be for a second helping.... Wrong! I caught the scent of lamb shank and the rest is history. Beyond tender. With beautifully roasted root veggies--poached in Rioja! Which, by the glass, is lovely. And I started with that Alsatian thin crust pizza I read about in the Times (but had to look up ""lardon""--it's like bacon, but better). With Vidalia onions and creme fraiche. So now I'm a fool for the pizza, too. Met both owners--and understand why this place is so special. Go NOW, before getting a reservation is a three month wait! Pros: cool yet cozy; interesting wine selection; really great food Cons: lobster roll is a ""small bite"" dish. I want...more! more

Adorable and Delicious New Spot 12/12/2006

Klee is a great new restaurant in Chelsea!!! The ambiance, the food and the service are excellent. I highly recommend for appetizer the lobster roll and pizza, the halibut for an entree and the bread pudding is AMAZING. Best bread pudding in the city! more

Best Lobster Roll in the city! 12/11/2006

Great ambiance, delicious wine, amazing food! Everyone is super friendly and eager to make your dining experience enjoyable...What more could you ask for!? Pros: Location, Food, & Service more

Creative menu and fair prices 12/9/2006

If you compare the quality of ingredients at Klee with other restaurants of the same style it becomes very clear that klee is reasonably priced for the grat food you get. I had a Muscovy duck which was huge and incredibly delicious for at least $10 less that it would have been in another restaurant (and not as good). I dine out a lot and am consistently impressed by their food, service and value, including the prices of the extensive and impressive wine list. Pros: Great value more

...welcome to the neighborhood, Klee! 12/2/2006

I have to say, I had one of those meals that was so delicious it makes you happy to pay the bill. Open only a week, but aside from the temporary bar, you would never know - they had their act together. Nice decor, nice crowd, friendly staff. Diverse menu with something for everyone, and intersting drinks. Must try the creme fresh pizza appetizer - it's beyond...... Pros: great food, nice neighborhood scene more
