Everyone keeps talking about their burgers, but really -- try their Pot Roast dinner ; it's delicious! Have had it on occasion for a few years, and its consistently wonderful! I do agree, though, the service could be friendlier -- maybe a smile or something... more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/21/2013

Just had a burger there which is what this tavern is supposedly famous for. The burger was good. However, the STARTING price of the burger is $7.99. That's a burger and a bun. I added cheese, mushrooms, onion and FIVE peppers rings for an additional .75 per item EACH. This wasn't clear on the menu. So I add a side order of about 12 French fries for an additional $1.99. This brings my burger and fries lunch to $13. Service was very slow for the number of diners at noon. My wife had the ""special"" a chicken wrap with side salad. I had one draft beer and my wife had a soft drink. Total bill before tip was $30. I don't mind paying inflated prices for huge portions and a take home box, but this was nothing beyond typical bar food at an outrageous price. I won't go back and wouldn't recommend it with so many other good places to eat in the area. more

Food good, service poor 3/11/2008

Went on a recent Monday night, and had the half price burgers and an order of match stix's. These are thin slices of onions and peppers battered dipped and fried. Very good.\r Since no tables were available, we sat at the bar. The bar tender (owner?) was not pleasant at all.\r Food was good, not very friendly service though. more

Outstanding Food 5/1/2006

I just moved into Kirtland and my neighbors highly recommended that I try the Kirtland City Tavern for dinner. My family and I went on a Monday night and were surprised to see a full house retaurant and a short waiting list. Little did we know that Monday's are 1/2 price burger night at the Tavern. I had a Burger and a bowl of homemade bean and ham soup and found it outstanding. My daughter tried the French Dip and hand cut fries, my son the Cajun Chicken and Broccolli Pasta. Both of them raved about their selection. Their menu features made from scratch entrees, and a wide variety of sandwiches and appetizers, all reasonably priced. We will be back. more

A smoky bar with bad food, bad service, high cost 4/9/2006

I went to this restaurant because it was voted best hamburger joint in NE Ohio for 2001-02. I guess they forgot how to cook hamburgers since then because the burgers at the Kirtland Tavern are nothing to write home about. Burgers were really no better than McDonalds. The only difference is a 1/2 lb vs. 1/4 lb burger. The Fries were cold, the service was late and unfriendly. Food was missing from the appetizer (no wings for Combo appetizer). This restaurant does not take credit cards. Cash or Check only which I did not have either of.. Who ever heard of that in 2006? They have an ATM with a $2.75 ""convenience charge""! How convenient! A Root Beer was $2.50 a bottle, extra ranch sauce was 35 cents, and the burgers were much overpriced and not that great. I will never go to this place again. Cons: Cost, Taste, payment options more

burger to go? 6/7/2004

Yummy! First thing I do when I get there is order a burger for my meal and one to go, so I can have another one at home. Once you eat one you want more!! Try the fries too, can't have a burger w/o fries! Pros: super friendly, inexpensive, lots to choose from Cons: none, none, none more

and I didn't get paid for this . . . 7/30/2003

I knew Kirtland City Tavern BEFORE it was Kirtland City Tavern. What Debbie, Mike and Moe (owners) have done with this place is incredible. I had my daughter's graduation/birthday party there just this past weekend. They were the best! The place was beautiful, the food was wonderful and as always, they are genuinely nice people. Pros: Great menu, Great food, Great service Cons: none, none, barstools more

Good but not the best. 12/23/2002

Good but needs to tweak it a bit. A good toasted bun and less bun for starters...more toppings. The prime rib was outstanding on Saturdays and the deserts are what I look forward to when I go back. Bread pudding, taramazu. more

Best Burger two years in a row!!! 8/27/2002

There is a good reason why Kirtland City Tavern has been voted ""Best Burger"" in 2001 & 2002 as well as ""Best Fries"" in 2001 - because they ARE the best. If there was a ""Best of Cleveland"" category for the rest of the items on their menu, they would probably finish first in those as well. A well deserved ""Congrats"" to Mike & Mo! more

Catchy title here 8/14/2002

Florida Connection 8/9/2002

The consistently tasteful menu is only a compliment to the comfortable home town atmosphere created in this newly renovated gem. The menu has a great variety!!! After trying the ""popular"" burger from a friend's recommendation, it easily became one of my favorites! The staff and service, especially ""Mo"", are efficient and extremely friendly!! SNJ Pros: Reasonably priced, Addn' outdoor area, Friendly staff more

Great food/good volleyball 8/7/2002

Huge burgers and wings. Everything on the menu is excellent! A great place for a beer and burger following volleyball leagues, unless you're playing that cheatin' Boyd team!!! more
