No complaints, great experience 7/27/2016

My overall experience here at Kindred has been great. The hospital staff are super good people who pay attention to the all the details of my treatment plan. I've had no complaints these past three weeks. The rehab team has been great as well. My physical therapists do a great job of not pressing me too hard. I get a great workout each time. Before I was admitted to kindred hospital as an inpatient I was dependent on my wheelchair. Since then I've made great progress building up strength with the rehab team going from using a wheelchair and walker to now being to able to walk on my own again! Many thanks, G. Vaughn more

Another great hospital stay from a returning patient 7/22/2016

Overall a great hospital. Nurses are well trained and knowledgeable. Kristopher does a great job of explaining my treatment plan in a way I can better understand. It's a clean hospital. Housekeeping does a great job making sure my room is well kept. It's the only hospital I choose to come to if I need an extended stay. more

Excellent hospital stay 7/15/2016

My experience has been wonderful, overall a great facility with staff members who truly care for you! Nursing staff was nice though, my only complaint is the food, it didn't have much flavor, but that may have to do with me being on a cardiac diet plan. Rehab worked well with me, however due to a physician's order I had to sit up in a chair for a bit, which got uncomfortable - the order was revised and all was great afterwards. I would definitely rrecommend this facility! more

Kind team, great care 6/16/2016

Everyone has been really kind, and attentive.. They are always willing to help out whenever needed and are concerned about the care while here and also once I get home. All staff members have gone above and beyond for me - I know I've received great care being here at Kindred. Therapy teams are amazing, I have been receiving Occupational and Physical therapy and both have been excellent. The food is basic hospital food, and the only suggestion I have is to offer more options and seasonings for those that are on a restricted diet. Often times the food was bland and did not have a lot of flavor. Wound care treatments were the main reason for my admission, and the wound care team tended to my wounds terrifically and my wounds are healing really well! Nursing staff was considerate of my pain and always did all they possibly could to help ease my pain when I was uncomfortable. 5+ stars - definitely would recommend this hospital to family and friends. A very happy patient 6/10/2016

All of the nursing staff is efficient and treats you as if you're not in a hospital setting by demonstrating that they truly care. My favorite nurse had been Penny, she has made me laugh many a times which always livens up my mood - she even stops to give me a hug when I'm downstairs in therapy. Most nurses joke around with me which has been the best medicine I could have received while being here, and I sincerely mean it. I think the main thing about coming to a rehab hospital is the attitude that you have and to make up your mind that you're coming for a reason to get well and trust in the staff that they will help you throughout they way! I am so pleased that I am here getting better, I trust the doctors and employees. I can even say that I've enjoyed most of the food here, the best thing I've eaten here are the burgers, they are soooo tasty! An extra special employee at Kindred who makes it possible to keep up with my favorite baseball team, The Astros, is Javier with Admissions. While signing my admission paperwork I said that my only complaint was that the TV did not have a channel to watch The Astro's games on... He remembered and has come up to my room several times throughout the weeks I've been here to show me updates and highlight video clips on his phone, it doesn't take but five minutes out of his day but it goes to show the compassion of the employees here. I was truly touched by his kindness and it has made me feel extra special. I would definitely recommend this hospital to family and friends! Thank You Team!! From. Mrs. B. Riley more

KHBA stay 4/27/2016

I began my journey with Kindred three weeks ago when I was transferred from Southeast Memorial Hospital for continued wound care treatments with IV antibiotics. I had heard about Kindred facilities prior to my admission, but never knew anyone personally that had been here... Upon my admission the nurse mentioned a little bit about the services I would be receiving. Nursing care has been great since day one! Kim, nursing supervisor, would check in on me frequently and always made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. CNA, Daisy, was always extremely kind, she is definitely a sweetheart, I love her and wish I could take her home with me! CNA, Renee, was always attentive, and gave me the best and most thorough baths during my stay. One day I was in a lot of pain, but each staff member (from the wound care team to the respiratory team) came in with a smile and asked me if I was okay, which made feel better. The wound care team were all so sweet, especially Becky. My wounds thoroughly cared for, and thus have made good progress in healing. I did require a pain shot prior to receiving wound care, but nursing staff was always attentive and great about getting it to me when needed. Overall Kindred exceeded my expectations, and I couldn't have asked for a better team to help me get well. Thank you, Mrs. Catherine Wranich more

Good stay at Kindred 4/13/2016

I came to kindred with a good understanding of the type of facility it was and the services offered - and my expectations were definitely met. I've been a patient here for over a month and have received great care. The physical therapy team was more than adequate, but that doesn't mean the other departments were bad. The respiratory team supplied me with oxygen and was given promptly each time. The food at the hospital could have some room for improvement, the food oftentimes lacked flavor - but that's hospital food for you. Overall my stay was pleasant and I would absolutely recommend this LTAC to family and friends if needed. Thank you, W. Armstrong more

Pretty good stay here 3/31/2016

Nursing and therapy care have been great - y'all have some really good people here. Daisy, CNA, really impressed me when I needed to be cleaned up. She did it fast and without hesitation. Shurron, RN, also really shined! Broch and Tisha are great - they motivated me to keep walking and made therapy enjoyable. Downfall was sometimes they come in early in the morning and woke me up simply to take my blood pressure, which was I asked for them not to do and my request was accommodate. But the only horrible things about the hospital is the food - it lacked flavor and a variety in options. Thank you, F. Hickey more

A day at Kindred Hospital 2/11/2016

Let's start with a real plus - the meals served at Kindred are excellent. Each meal have many options that you can choose from: Breakfast serves many types of juices, dry and hot cereal with different % of milk, they serve different omelets and scrambled eggs, also have different options for toast. Lunch and dinner are pretty similar, you have the option to order between two main entrees with meat, vegetable, and starch as well as getting dessert.. However if you do not like options you can always request from the grill where you can order hamburgers, grilled cheese, hot dogs or tuna cold plates and fruit and cottage cheese plates with fresh seasonal fruit, and let's not forget the PB&Js!! The nursing staff is exceptional - all of them are just wonderful! I put in good words for a few staff members that impressed me with their knowledge regarding my care. All were knowledgable and kind, truly a good well run business. You are able to receive assistance with a bath - they can help you into the shower or provide a bed bath, or you can clean up at the bedside sink. All necessary items needed such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotions, shampoos, socks and gowns are provided.. You are able to leave your room and walk throughout the building, if you can, to go outside and get fresh air. I was even crowned Queen of Bay Area Mardi Gras - where we got to parade through the hospital and pass out beads to patients and staff members which was so much fun! I have a white board In my room that is updated daily with nursing information, supervisors extension, rehab team, and case manager contact information. Your doctor will usually visit once a day, but be ready for them because they visit anywhere from 8am to dinner time - I always keep a pad of paper and pen nearby so I can write down important information from doctor's instructions or if I have questions I need to ask. Kindred Hospital is a well kept facility with great staff - I would highly recommend this hospital! more

Great turn out 1/29/2016

I was a little hesitant to admit to Bay Area due to not hearing good things about the facility - upon arrival there was a medication order delay and I didn't receive my medication on time... The night shift supervisor intervened and I was taken care of immediately. Ever since then my stay gets better and betters each day. I have grown to adore the nurses here and am so thankful for their care to me. I am a very independent person and do not like to ask for assistance to do anything, but I was too ill to not have the help from the staff. Marlies, CNA, is truly amazing and efficient! She did not hesitate to take over and give me excellent care. Nurses Ernestine and Cherry were both understanding and patient with me. I regained my strength from working with physical therapy, I have bad arthritis and the team was accommodating to me when I was in pain and could complete a lot of therapy some days. I'm very pleased with my stay and that everything was smoothed out since day one. more

5+ star hospital 1/15/2016

I have been to Kindred one time before this current stay and both times I was treated with respect and they always made me feel comfortable and safe. Physical therapy worked well with me, Broch and Trisha were excellent and made my therapy sessions fun! Tamara Rhodes with case management made sure to arrange my discharge plans and always kept me informed of any new updates.. Each staff member was kind and respectful to me. Selina with Patient Relations always came to check on me and made sure I was doing okay! The food was also great, it was all seasoned well and delicious!! I would definitely come back to Kindred Bay Area if needed, but hopefully I do not have to. Thank you all soooo much! more

Attentive staff and clean facility 11/19/2015

I was actually hesitant about transferring here because I was expecting to receive less attention but it actually turned out that the staff was very attentive and kind. Physical therapy was awesome, my therapist did not push my limits too far but was respectful when I could not push through my therapy session any longer. I absolutely loved the food here, in fact it has been the best hospital food I've ever had - it was all tasty and I always had a good variety of food items to choose from. Wound care was friendly and gentle, I could go on but I'd just like to thank everyone for caring for me while I was here. Many blessings, Ms. S. more

Very nice hospital 10/27/2015

Everybody was perfect, pleasant and nice, they always made us feel really comfortable. All techs were friendly and made sure we were taken care of and always asked if we needed anything and if we did they were quick to get it us! Nursing staff I'd like to personally acknowledge are Jenny, Sam, Kim (nursing supervisor), Abiba, and Rita - they were however all amazing but I cannot mention them all due to not knowing their names. Nursing supervisors were exceptional - if I ever any questions they always told me to cal them directly and were quick to resolve any minor issues. My husband needed some wound care while he here and their staff was really great too, they explained how to care for the wound. Physical therapy was great and polite, they made my husband feel comfortable! The food was pretty good, and the kitchen staff made sure to get us snacks if we ever needed one. We were overall really pleased with our stay. Mr. and Mrs. Lopez. more

Awesome staff 9/29/2015

I've been at kindred for a month, and I have not had any problems with the staff. Nursing were always helpful and attentive, and treated me with professionalism, respect, and friendly attitudes. A few nurses I would like to personally acknowledge are Trissa, Camilla, and Regina-who all were quick with their responsibilities in tending to my needs, always sympathetic and were great listeners with compassion. CNAs were available when I needed them and helped me gain independence back regarding my care. Esperanza and Rochelle, always make sure I'm comfortable and have everything that I need, both ladies are very friendly. Physical therapy was very encouraging and had good attitudes, Claudia was exceptionally kind. She would help me take my mind off of any pain I had during exercise sessions and before I knew it therapy was over! Although I did not work with Trisha, OT, she was always positive and friendly towards me! Dietary cooks made great food and had tons of variety! Thanks, Laurie B. more

Our second stay, but hopefully our last! 9/16/2015

The care was very good, however I noticed that sometimes it was not coordinated effectively from shift to shift, as accurately as it should it have been. Physical therapy was wonderful, Brock was a fabulous therapist, very personable and kind, however the therapists were often on their phones during therapy sessions, I'm not sure if it was a personal matter or facility matter, but that was sometimes very annoying. Wound care was absolutely excellent, very thorough and personable. All in all I would definitely recommend the hospital and thank everyone for being so wonderful. It made our journey a lot more bearable. I enjoyed all the hugs and prayers., We had some fabulous nurses during or stay! Hopefully, we do not have to return but will be more than willing to it needed. Thank you very much everyone! more

Thank you Kindred 7/29/2015

Great staff, everyone is friendly, and I've been treated great here. Food is really good and I can order whatever I'd like. Physical therapy doesn't push too hard, but helps me get the job done. Mr. Minor more

Bay Area Hospital 7/24/2015

I loved the food, and liked the fact that there was a clean and private room. PT/OT was excellent, Sophie and Tessa really encouraged me to walk as much as I could! They lifted up my spirits with laughs and jokes. The nursing team treated me well. Thank you all! more
