Editorial review from Citysearch 1/17/2013

High turnover of staff, apathy from the management, and the owners prefer to stuff your child in a room with dozens of kids with only 2 teachers. I would show up and the teachers were stressed out, overworked, and the room looked like a bomb had hit it; i.e., filthy and disorganized. They tried to stuff my infant in a toddler room with 3 year olds when he couldn't even walk yet. Due to high ratios in the infant rooms the teachers were not able to keep with all the children. \r I supervised my child on the cameras and observed my my child falling and hurting his head when the teacher's back was turned. After several meetings with the director, and realizing that none of our concerns had been addressed, we decided to make a change. We were not going to let our 9 month old be in the same room with 20+ 2-3 yr old Toddlers. We went to Creme de la creme in Allen and my child is learning rapidly and is very happy. What a difference it makes when management focuses on the children's development and not just simply making money. Structure, top notch cleanliness, low ratios, nutritious meals -not frozen food, attentive and responsive to our requests, we couldn't be happier. In conclusion, I strongly recommend all parents do their research and consider this review. \r \r I've seen recently where it has been said that I'm allegedly an ex-employee. Simply not true. I'm a father that doesn't want anyone to make the same mistake we did. There are cleaner, better managed daycare's out there. Do your research and trust your instincts. Good luck. more

I agree with Katy 10/16/2012

mac12 is obviously an ex-employee. Kids R Kids is not a montessori school and does not combine infants with 3 year olds! All of the comments mac12 made are not true. The majority of the negative comments here are ex-employees. If you want to know how the school really is, please tour it and speak to parents you find at the school. more

Sad to depart, this school has become our family :( 6/12/2011

Kids R Kids of West Allen has become our 2nd family over the past couple of years. My child just graduated and is moving on to Kindergarten. He has learned so much from the amazing teachers and the Kids R Kids hand-on learning curriculum. We left Primrose a couple of years ago and that ended up being the best choice for my child. The school is cozy, the managers are so friendly and genuinly loving, and the owners are always there to accomodate our every need. We toured so many schools and this was it for us. Our only regret is that Kids R Kids doesnt go all the way up through 12th Grade! ;) All the schools around are able to talk about how great their school is, but this is the only school that was able to prove it! more

Perfect ChildCare!!! 5/18/2011

I don't have any thought about what's happening right now with the employees, my only concern is about how my kids have loved the school for over a year now. I cannot say enough positive things about this childcare. The school has wonderful program, curriculum, and activities. They ensure a safe and loving environment. My children feel safe, loved, and secured. All the time, my daughter is always happily engaged with her friends, I have to pry her away to come home and no feeling of boredom at all!!! The teachers are all awe-inspiring. The owner and managers are all approachable. We're so glad our children have had the experiences they've had at this school. We feel very much confident that it's one of the best school available. more

Great workers 5/18/2011

I am a current employee at kids r kids and I would say that this is the best place I have worked at ever. When I was reading the reviews that other parents are even past employes wrote I just thought that they were totally uncalled for, and that I am glad that those bad employes are gone because the ones that are hear now work hard for everything, and they deserve to be here. This school has been opened for 2 years now, and yes things are getting changed around but the students still get the best education anyone can get. I do not have children but when I do my fianc??e and I will tour kids r kids as parents not as an employee. so to all the people that wrote rude comments please think twice before because what you say hurts the hard workers of kids r kids of west allen. thank you, GTew more

Happy teacher in a great daycare! 5/17/2011

I, like Mrs. Amy, I am also a current teacher in this school and recently hit my 2 year anniversary. I would never ever leave this place...I found my home. These immature younger girls with no work ethic that are posting horrible reviews of this child care center should be ashamed of themselves. Myself, along with all of the older mature women on this teacher team truly appreciate what we have because of our past experience with other employers and owners of other day cares. These are people who truly care about each and every individual family and I ask all of you parents looking for a daycare to go in and set up interviews with us currently employed teachers and you will see for yourself how happy of a place this is. I know parents are smart enough to NOT believe angry ex employees on this website that were fired for not following our state licensing regulations. The managers and owners only fire people when they have done something horribly wrong....and it is always the immature young teachers who think the world owes them somthing. They need to be sent to me for some raising cuz they mama didnt raise them right!!!! more

Atrocious 5/17/2011

I am a former employee of kids r kids west allen, I left due to a better job opportunity. I must say that I totally agree with the parents reviews! Amy you are practically part of management so your comment doesn?t count. Although the school gives you a good presentation during the tour of the school, the reality is that it?s another mediocre childcare facility chasing dollars instead of fostering children?s learning! The ratios are OUTRAGOUS with about 25-27 children in one small classroom and most of the time there are 30 kids on the roster with the hope of students not showing up every day. The management team is very unprofessional, they are very catty and seem to only care about themselves and making money. more

awesome management team 5/17/2011

i am a current teacher at KRK West Allen and i must say the negative reviews about management and owners are outrageous! i have been a Pre-K teacher since it opened and the management team and owners are awesome! Last year when i missed 2 weeks of work due to personal issues, they supported me 150%! they were very helpful in getting me and my family through those times. Whenever there is something i need to discuss, they are always there to listen and give advice. i couldnt work for a better bunch of ladies. thank you for giving me the opportunity to work for you. more

Former Employee 5/16/2011

I was just informed that the management of KRK West Allen has posted on facebook that they want to claim former employees wrote bad reviews about them under fake names and proceeded to call these employee "" naughty"" words. I was asked by one of their current employees if I wrote a bad review and honestly I just laughed. Well I will be a former employee to use my real name. Im not afraid to write a review using my name. I am acutally the employee that the review "" Amazing Teachers"" is about. My name is Meghan. I have worked at kids r kids since october 2009. I became lead teacher within a month of working there. I had also been promoted to Creative Specialist recently and two days after they announced my promotion ( with quite a big raise) I was fired ( or basically forced to resign) without a reason. They said they don't have to give a reason. I recieved a hug above the rest ( best rating) review from corporate and had been named employee of the month twice in only a year in a half working there. I have only had wonderful comments by parents and since finding out I am no longer with kids r kids had an out pouring of support from my former parents. I feel like I was treated unfairly and fired without a real cause. But that is just my opinion. You can make your own opinion. Im not writing a review to the parents really because there are some wonderful teachers, but more to future employees. I would pass on working here because I put my heart and soul into my work, children, room and parents and cried when I was forced to leave without reason. I don't want that to happen to you. Thanks, Meghan more

WORST MANAGEMENT EVER 5/15/2011

I am so glad I found somewhere I can let people know of the complete and utter disappointment I have in this school.I would have rated it negative if it wasn't for a couple teachers that have been wonderful. I agree with fundad. They lie! They say they have lower ratios. My son has 30 kids in his class. The classrooms are small. They don't have a gym because they put a classroom in it so my son stays in his room all day if they can't go outside when it rains. They extra activities aren't daily. He never gets on a computer even though they say they do. He goes to the smartboard class once a week for 20 minutes. He hates wiggle class because they do the same things every week in the small lunchroom area. They have the highest teacher turnover rate. I just found out two wonderful teachers were fired without reason. Well guess what. parents are mad and will be pulling out. They raise tuition without warning, change vacation policy and charged all the parents for the snow days they were closed saying they had to pay the teachers. They only paid some of the teachers and made them use their pto to even get paid. The director and manager go smoke together during work hours and come back without washing their hands. I have watched this. The only reason parents put up with them is because of some of the teachers. Now that the good ones are mostly gone the parents will be leaving too. They lie about turnover rate. They told me they had the same core teachers. That means they have 3 teachers out of all the teachers that are still there from open. They have only been open two years. That is sad! Now the management team seems to be the same. So maybe that needs to change instead of all the teachers leaving. They are rude, sarcastic and cold. Especially Malak the owner and Kirsta the director. Almost childish at times. Don't tour this school. It is not worth it. The tuition will be going up soon Im sure because a lot of my friends I know are pulling for the summer and probably not coming back. This school is so disapointing. more

AMAZING TEACHERS 2/16/2011

I am not normally the parent that feels the need to write reviews, but I would like to express what I love about this school. I have had a little trouble in communication with the front staff, but credit needs to be given to some amazing teachers. There is especially one teacher that is my child's teacher now that is amazing. My child moved up this school year to a new room and has really shined. She is quite shy and we had concerns about her development. Our concerns were quickly cleared away the first month she was in this new class. The teacher's name is Mrs. Meghan and we are so lucky that our daughter is in her class. Our daughter has learned so much and come out of her shell. Mrs. Meghan is so creative, loving, fun, exciting, organized and much more. She even created a class website to keep the class and parents united. On top of being such a wonderful teacher she takes the most amazing photos and videos of the class. I feel blessed to know that while I am at work I will still get to experience what my daughter is doing in class. My daughter's eyes sparkle and smile radiates when she goes to school. She has had the chance to learn so much in the most creative ways. I love walking into her classroom because it is like stepping into another land. The themes that Mrs. Meghan and her teachers create go above and beyond. Just recently the whole room was turned into the Swiss Alps and a ski lodge. My daughter still won't stop talking about her ski trip. Mrs. Meghan actually brought real skis to class and let the children pretend to ski on the grass all while taking wonderful photos of the trip. I think I could go on forever about other amazing teachers at this school, but really just wanted to express how much Mrs. Meghan has touched our daughter and our hearts. She was recently ill and missed a couple weeks of school and I could tell how much she was missed in her classroom and especially by my daughter. We are so elated she is back and healthy. Kids R Kids has done a great job in finding the best teachers in the area. Teachers are the heart of the school and to me that is the most important part! I also must add that my husband is a quiet man and maybe that is where my daughter gets it from however even my husband can't stop talking about the wonderful confidence our daughter is showing and how much he enjoys her class! more

Hug Above the Rest! 2/9/2011

I am so grateful to have a beautiful school for my three children to attend! My children have been in the school age classroom, the pre-k and the infant rooms. In each room my children had consistent, loving teachers who were well-educated and there for the right reasons! I am so pleased with my middle child's transition into Kindergarten this year! She was so well-prepared! As a mother who works 50 to 60 hours a week, I consider it a blessing that my children are fed breakfast, snacks and lunch and that they experience extra curricular activities weekly. I have looked at many schools, and none offer what Kids R Kids of West Allen offers! Every school goes through times of change, and we were all sad to see the former chef move on (he was great!), but it appears the managment have remedied the situation and breakfast is back on track! I just want to say thank you to the owners and the teachers of Kids R Kids of West Allen for giving me peace of mind each day! more

Another mediocre daycare :( 2/8/2011

I could not agree with you more Famof4! Our child has been with this daycare since they've opened. We were promised everything when he started: Spanish, Lego classes, piano classes, gym. The lady that provided Spanish classes went on maternity leave and so the classes stopped. They only recently started back up again because she is back. There are no Lego classes that I'm aware of because everytime I ask my child he says they didn't have them. They basically have them whenever they feel like it, not on a weekly basis as promised. Piano classes? What piano classes?? I don't think my child had piano class in the whole month of January yet! Breakfast, as you said, it's always cold or non-existent. My child is supposed to be learning writing his letters but when I asked for his notebook to see his writings, I was told they couldn't find it and that another teacher that was on sick leave probably took it home! Really??? more

Not good enough for our child 1/31/2011

We feel the need to inform parents of our experience with Kids 'R' Kids West Allen. When we initially toured, Kids 'R' Kids of West Allen sounded great and although the rate was higher than most it was supposed to include daily Spanish, Computers, Music, and extracurricular activities. We were also promised they would keep a lower ratio. Within months, they increased their rates but took away programs without any communication to the parents and added so many children into the classroom it was complete chaos with no structure. We noticed a huge decrease in learning and not following the daily schedule. They were always running out of breakfast so our child would have nothing to eat when it was supposed to be included. High turnover in staff and unhappy teachers. None of our concerns were addressed, in fact, they told us they wouldn't cap enrollment and couldn't give us a clear understanding of the programs our child would receive. more
