The massage itself was great. No complaints there. My only issue was the receptionist Angie. First of all, this spa is inside a 24 hour Fitness, yet Angie is very fat and very ugly. She is also rude and load. I could hear her complaining about her fellow employees while I was in my massage room. When I came out to pay, Jabba the receptionist was busy yelling at a therapist. I asked her to stop and implored her to act in a professional manner. She snap at me, telling to just "sign my credit card reciept and mind my own business." more

I recently had the pleasure of having a deep tissue massage at the re:fresh day spa in lakeshore towers. The massage was amazing! I had been injured a few years ago in a car accident and tend to hold a lot of tension in my back, which causes terrible headaches. I had a friend who works out at the lakeshore towers 24 hour fitness that recommended that I try out re:fresh. I had been going to a spa in Mission Viejo and was paying quite a bit of money for massages that I was not completely satisfied with. Anyway, I tried out re:fresh and had a wonderful massage. Tami, the therapist really listened to me and addressed all of my problem areas in my back and neck. She was able to really work out knots that had been bothering me for months (which no one else has been able to do). I have gone back 2 times since my first visit. The last massage I got was a swedish. Since Tami had been able to work out so much of that tension, I was able to enjoy the swedish style massage instead of the deep tissue. I was so relaxed that I fell asleep. I also had a facial done at re:fresh...my first! Parvin?, the esthetician, was so sweet. She had a very gentle touch, and I got the appointment through Goldstar so it was really affordable. I am definitely going to have another one (I wouldn't even mind paying full price if Goldstar doesn't have any specials). I highly recommend this spa! I found the receptionist /manager to be very professional and courteous and was very impressed with the high quality staff. My treatments have all been fantastic and I am looking forward to my next massage! As you can see from my screen name, I AM a spa LOVER :) I am what you may consider a connoisseur, of sorts. I came to re:fresh day spa after joining the gym in which it is located, and I was happily surprised at how they are able to pull off the ambiance of a day spa that is separated from a loud gym, inside a loud gym. Then there was the customer service you don't see at the larger day spas. Personal care is priority one. I got a massage first and had a facial as well. OMG is all I can say. I have been back a few times, tried several therapists, and have NEVER experienced disappointment, not one bit. I read the most recent review and was absolutely shocked! It is so not true, not one little eensy bit (At least in my experience)!! GO go go to this wonderful establishment. You will not regret it!!!! Went to Refresh Day Spa located at Lake Shore Tower, Irvine, CA. Kim who provides nail care service, was rude, vulgar, mouthy and completely unprofessional in every way possible. Kim makes negative, hurtful comments towards other employees/clients in front of other clients within the spa as well as in hearing distance of other employees. This particular spa located within 24 Hour Fitness is NOT a booming business. Each time I have visited there, their is not a steady flow of people coming and going. It is very sparse and with Kim's attitude and behavior, I can understand why! I will do my best to STOP anyone from going there. As a business owner, my suggestion to the owner of Refresh Day Spa is to bid Kim a quick and final farewell! Her arrogance is unspeakable! Pros: Could be a great spa without employees like Kim. I went on my birthday (July '08) and had an overall good experience. I got there 10 minutes early, but the esthetician wasn't ready until about 15 minutes past my appointment time. She made up for it though. I got the deep cleansing facial, and it was well worth the wait. The lady at the front desk was very nice, too. She encouraged me to write a review on Goldstar (where I had purchased the service) if I had a positive experience. Another employee, however, LITERALLY said, "But if you didn't, well, you just keep your mouth shut...just kidding." I know she was kidding, but I found it rude, unprofessional and tacky. That was the only negative part of my experience. I won't hold that against the whole spa, but I surely wouldn't want to encounter that person again. RE:Fresh is always great - I never have to wait to make an appt. and the service is excellent. The Cleanse Facials are wonderful (ask for Jan - she's not too chatty but makes a little small talk to put you at ease). I also get my eyebrows done by her and she does a great job. Great no nonsense facial and eyebrow place - good place to go if you have a facial regimen you want to do maintain but don't want to spend a fortune. I've had a several excellent massages here. The staff are friendly and the Lakeshore Towers location is convenient. Being able to use the fitness club facilities locker room facilities - sauna, steam and whirlpools is a plus. Refresh is located inside the big 24 Hour Fitness - so you can't see it from the street. There is also free parking available if you get your parking ticket validated. Pros: Friendly staff, convenient location, validated parking Cons: none - good basic spa environment - adequate not fancy more
