Editorial review from Citysearch 4/24/2013

I am not the owner. I am a client. I am real. I met Aaron at the Home Show and within a week he was at my house. Was he expensive? He was - however I am paying for his professional knowledge, first rate equipment and employees and exceptional, guaranteed work. Please note that all negative comments came from people from who Keystone did NOT do the work. Hmmmm. My basement - which is in a flood plain along the river - is DRY. Keystone's staff is clean, neat, (and this is working with cement - including jack-hammering it up), well mannered and professional. I am so pleased - that I am meeting with Aaron next week for another potentially HUGE problem house that I may purchase. If any one can fix that nightmare - it is Aaron and Keystone. Any questions? Contact me!\r more

Very Satisfied 9/23/2011

My basement was waterproofed by Keystone and it has withstood the recent rains. I was able to finish my basement because it no longer is wet. I was impressed that non of the workers smoked cigarettes and they took off their shoes when they were upstairs. They also let me use a senior discount even though I am 2 years away from being one.\r \r My basement is now finished. more

Very Satisfied 12/30/2010

I used Keystone based on a recomendation of my brother-in-law. They had used Keystone in 2003 and they still had a bry basement. So I went with them. They were clean and very nice. I liked how they allowed me to use financing also. The best part was how quick everything went. I thought this would be a messy two weeks but it was a clean 2 days. more

I'm Glad My Basement Is Dry! 6/7/2010

I am a single mother from Brighton Heights, so sometimes I hesitate to have work done at my home. I usually feel taken advantage of. When Keystone Basement Systems came out to my home, I felt very good about them being there. They were very kind in helping me understand everything about my basement. They even came out a second time to answer questions that I had. I would recommend Keystone Basement Systems to anyone who wants quality work done. Pros: Workers were very polite. Work was done very efficiently. Cons: Work was a bit dusty more

Very Pleased and Dry 4/10/2010

I had the Keystone Basement Systems water proof my home and I am pleased to say that I am very satisfied. I have no leaks anymore and I was able to finance the project which makes it a lot easier as I have a daughter in college. I am always available for more details if anyone needs them. They were a pleasure to work with. Pros: Professional, Clean and Flexibile on Payment Options more

Anyone but them 4/5/2010

I got three bids on an interior french drain. Two of the companies were great. They bid me prices between 2500 and 2800 to do it. Keystone bid me over 5000 and then pressured me to sign right then to get the ""special price"" of 3600. The guy also talked down to me the whole time, even going so far as to tell me the holes in my wall were due to termites and I needed to get that fixed. (They were nailholes, evenly spaced across the whole wall, and in CONCRETE). Don't buy from these jokers. Cons: Pushy, rude, and not that bright more

Pressured to buy something I didn't want 3/1/2010

Called them to remediate mold. They didn't care about mold, just started trying to talk me into an internal french drain. Didn't even try to determine where water was coming from. When I said if anything I would prefer to take care of it from the outside the guy actually rolled his eyes and gave me a story about the insane price difference. He then told me it would be around 38000 to waterproof the half of the house that is below grade. I'm sure this was to push me to get the 6000 dollar internal french drain. I would never use them, was a huge waste of time. Also notice the 3 other reviews were 2 days apart from each other. Yeah, I bet those are real. more

IT IS FINALLY DRY!!! 1/27/2009

I live in an old home with walls that are stone. Before I had the basement fixed it would leak everytime it rained. After Hurricane Ivan I had 3 feet of water in my home. Finally, last week I had my basement waterproofed by Keystone Basement Systems. I am so happy I did. My basement is dry for the first time in ten years. I cannot tell you how nice it is not to worry about all of my stuff getting ruined each time it rains. I used to leave work early if it was raining to move cloths off the floor. I am so happy I got the basement waterproofed.\r \r Keystone did a great job and I would recomend them to anyone who has a basement problem. They were quick and the price was worth it. Pros: price, quickness, clean and they are nice people...even the workers Cons: The process took three days...but I have a big basement more

AARON WAS GREAT! 1/25/2009

I was so impressed with Aaron Stull that I am compelled to write this so that others will know who to call when their basement has problems. Aaron, and Keystone, were clean, polite, quick and well priced. I not only received a quality job, but I was informed every step of the way of what was going on. Even though I got a cheaper price from a competitor, when I looked to see what their ""Lifetime Warranty"" and ""French Drain"" system really was there was no comparison. I am happy to endorse them as a company. I am very satisfied.\r \r p.s. I recommend you call Aaron for an appointment if you have an issue.. He is wonderful. Pros: Everything more

CHEAP, QUICK & PROFESSIONAL 1/23/2009

I am not much for words, but when I call a company in a pinch and they are out within a days time I am impressed. I had a longstanding problem in my basement that I neglected for a long time. I got a couple estimates last year and I did not get the problem fixed. Finally, it turned into a disaster and I was forced to call any company that would answer at 2AM in the morning. Keystone had a guy out at 8AM to explain the process and a crew in the next day to correct my basement. Three days later, after my heart stopped pounding, i got out the old estimates to see how much more I paid for immediate service. To my surprise they were $1500 dollars less. I have never been so happy with a company. Pros: Fast, Clean, Polite and Cost was perfect! Cons: N/A more

VERY SATISFIED 1/20/2009

Last week I was standing in a basement full of mold and water. I live in Squirrel Hill which is an older section of town and my basement, along with all of my neighbors, leaks. I was told it was something that we should ""just live with"" or ""something we could not help."" For about 6 years I listened to my friends and did nothing. I lived in a home with a moldy, smelly and wet basement. Then, to my amazement, I was walking through the Pittsburgh Home Remodelers Show and I saw Keystone Basement Systems booth. I had no intention of doing anything in terms of fixing it because I though it could not be done. I walked over simply to inquire if there was a way to control the smell of the home. I talked to someone named Josh and he explained that I did not have to live with a basement like that as it was easily fixed. With a bit of skepticism I set up a time for him to come out and give me an estimate to fix the problem...with little in terms of expectation.\r \r Josh came over last Monday and gave me an estimate not only to fix the water and mold, but also a way to control the air quality. He explained how humidity control machines can also create optimal air quality. I was very interested and I had them over Friday to install the system.\r \r I can honestly say that I have never been more satisfied with a home improvement in my life. I just increased my living space by 33% and I can move all the stuff I have piled in the upstairs closets in the basement. It feels so much more comfortable now. My basement is dry and free of mold. I just had a separate company test the mold and they also found that the mold count is normal. I am so happy I felt I should write this email to let people know that you do not have to live with a wet, moldy basement. \r Pros: Joshua English was a great inspector...If you use Keystone ask for him Cons: I did not know this service existed...it should be better advertised more

WONDERFUL WORKERS AND SUPERVISORS 1/16/2009

I am a single mother of 3 living in the McKeesport, area. My home is very modest, but it was my parents and I grew up here. I love my home, even though the neighborhood has deteriorated badly over the years. I only mention the area of town I live in as it became quite important when scheduling to get an estimate for repairs of my basement. I first called Champion Waterproofing who said that they do not serve McKeesport, even though their coverage map included 35 miles past my homes location. I then called A Better Choice (ABC) who told me that they no longer go as far as McKeesport to install jobs. The funny part about this was the fact that I was referred to them by my friend Tony who had ABC fix his basement two weeks prior and lives in Monongahela which is 45 minutes further away. Finally I called Keystone Basement Systems, Inc. who is located in Irwin, about 15 minutes away and asked to set up an estimate. To my amazement they not only said ok but they told me they had an inspector in Duquesne and he could stop over in 1 hour. I was so impressed I said ok and let them over.\r \r The company sent over a civil engineer names Aaron who investigated my basement and spent an hour and a half explaining the process so I could understand it. I had a lot of questions and he answered them all. Aaron was also a certified mold expert and he found an area where my washing machine was leaking which had caused a little mold. He gave me an estimate and did not pressure me at all to sign anything. I told him thank you and he went on his way.\r \r Over the next week, and literally 7 more calls to as many companies, I got two more estimates to correct the issues at my home. I was amazed that Keystone's estimate was slightly cheaper and they were taking care of the mold problem, offered a lifetime warranty, offered professional cleaning services once the job was completed while the others had none of this. Simply said I choose them and I have had a great basement since! Pros: My basement is a usable space again...not a damp room where I am affraid to store things!!! Cons: The only con is that it takes a couple days to fix. more

SCAM ARTISTS 9/17/2008

DO NOT TRUST !!!!! Major scam artists. Halfway into the job they told us they ran into problems and they were going to need another 5,000.00 dollars to finish the job on top of the original 9,000.00 dollars. We were so disgusted that we called our good friend who is an engineer as well as another friend who is a dry waller. They both said we were getting taken - BAD. Whatever you do don't get this company to do your work. more

I am impressed 2/23/2008

In June 2007 I had a foundation problem. I went through the exhausting process of calling contractors to explore my options. Keystone happened to be one of the 6 companies I called. During the process of getting estimates I discovered how condescending and judgmental people can be. I have muscular dystrophy and I am confined to a wheelchair. This made the estimation process hard as I could not go down the basement steps. A couple of the contractors were in and out of my house in 5 minutes. Another contractor told me to call him when I could have someone walk downstairs with him. The next to last company tried to take advantage of me by saying my house was going to collapse. They demanded I give them $5000 today to get started on rebuilding my foundation. Little did he know I have an uncle that came over and told me I needed a simple waterproofing system. I was at my wits end. The last estimate was Keystone. Aaron called me the day before to confirm and explained that he was an engineer who was very knowledgeable about these situations. By this time I did not trust anyone. When Aaron came over I was shocked to see a young man who owned this company. This furthered my suspicion. But to my amazement he proved to be the most competent. Not only did he spend 2 hours explaining what I needed, he went downstairs and took digital pictures, downloaded them on his computer and showed me what he was looking at. No one else wanted to give me the time of day. I gave him the contract. The job was completed and Keystone was a pleasure to work with. Aaron stopped over three times while the work was going on just to make sure everything was correct. Five days after the project Aaron came out again and retested everything just to be sure at my request. This is why I must tell you what a great company Keystone and its owner Aaron Stull are. If you need a good company, they are it! Pros: Engineering services, clean, professional, more
