My boyfriend took my engagement ring here to be sized. He bought it from a jeweler in New York and had it appraised at around $10k by a very well known gemologist. After having ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/11/2013

After spending nearly $5 k the past 2 years I'm through with Kessler's. I own a retail shop in Appleton, and purchased a ring from a lady who came into my store. I paid nearly 4 times what Kessler's offered her. I brought it in to get sized (for a fee of course) for my wife for Christmas. They looked up my account, looked at the ring and told me they needed to see my wife's finger. I told them I measured her ring that I purchased from them last year and that was good. She commented 'last year?"" I explained it was for Christmas, but she refused. All done doing business with these folks. Richard Kessler, what ever happened to your impeccable customer service? We sent so many folks in to see Arnie. more

Worst customer service! 3/3/2011

I have never been so compelled to write a review after my visit last Sunday (3/27/11) to Kessler's in Brookfield. I walked in (while my soon to be husband was running errands) and started peering into the cases to look for a diamond band as we were looking to spend some serious money on a stand alone diamond band. Granted, all sales associates were busy ; however, two gals behind the service counter were just standing there chatting with each other. It was obvious I was waiting for assistance, but after at least 15 minutes, I asked for help and was rudely told that all sales associates were busy and I'd have to wait. OK, they could have offered me water, cofffee (the coffee stand was right there) and/oir told politely ask me to wait for a sale associate. Instead, I felt like I was bothering those two gals to ask for help; Soon after that, a couple walks in (male/female) and they are immediately given assistance! I may not have ""looked"" like I was going to spend some money (I was in my ski coat in lieu of my normal ""professional attire"", it was the weekend) or whatever their deal was for not offering me assistance was unreal especially given the current state of the market. Regardless of my appearance or being a ""solo"" female, I should have been offered the same courtesy as any other potential customer! Well, we did find a gorgeous almost three carat band at Dick Powers' downtown and their customer service, genuine kindness and willingness to offer best prices are clearly beyond anything this large ""chain"" is cable of offering. more

A total scam 8/31/2010

First off Kesslers grades their own diamonds which is a major conflict of interest. This means you do not get a GIA diamond grading report, and if you did get it graded correctly the diamond would likely be of lower quality than it was sold to you as. Second, Kesslers laser drills holes and uses sulfuric acid to get rid of certain inclusions. Laser drilled holes have to be reported on GIA diamond grading reports, which again Kesslers does not provide. When we went to Kesslers, all we wanted was to look at a few diamonds side-by-side with their respective specs. The saleswoman told us ""don't worry, I'll keep track of that for you"", which was their way of trying to keep a cloak over the whole operation. We did not want or need financing, but we were pushed to apply for it so that Kesslers could make an extra buck. We had much better experiences at Shaw's and Jared's, but for the best quality at the right price nothing beats the Chicago diamond district (or Blue Nile if you're alright with not seeing you diamond before purchasing). more

No pressure here 12/12/2006

I visited Kessler's (Greenfield) multiple times while looking for my wife's engagement ring. I felt absolutely NO pressure to buy at any time. The sales people were very friendly and I enjoyed my service so much that I did end up buying my ring there. I will admit that the prices were a bit higher than other jewelers, but I felt the service was worth the extra cost. Pros: Great service, no pressure to buy Cons: higher than normal cost more

Sales tactics, no substance 3/31/2006

I shopped a lot, gathered information from jeweler to jeweler. The salespeople at Kessler's seemed to be a bit high pressure. After gathering information on price and quality aspects, I found Kessler's to be expensive and felt like they tried to sell me size, rather than quality with some low grade diamond that had been ""fixed"" or something..treated in some way to make it look better. They also pushed credit. I don't need credit, I simply wanted value and they could not give me that, in comparison with many other jewelers. It was more sales than substance. Pros: Nice Store, Friendly, Selection Cons: Overpriced, Lower Quality, High Pressure more
